I'm also using PL6. Of note, you can correct your horizon (without hitting the close button) and click the crop tool and PL6 will automatically crop to the edges to avoid any blackness. I like this type of video. Since you know quite a bit about film, it might be interesting to know more about that.
Thanks for the tip! Yes, basically what I'm doing on the computer is what I would do in the darkroom to a silver print. The toning ritual in the darkroom is very hit or miss. It takes at least a day to print the print and then a day to sepia tone it and then a day to selenium tone it, because there is a wash and dry cycle between each procedure. Usually I would do them in batches of 5-10 and always have a few that didn't tone optimally. But when they turned out they were great. I still think the darkroom prints are superior, but what's the point of making very complicated and exquisite prints that very very few people can even appreciate? Though it is a shame to have all this skill and knowledge that took years to accumulate just going to waste. It is something I struggle with.
I’m using DxO since DxO Optics Pro 6. I switch to it permanently after Apple abandoned Aperture. Still using Photolab today, just upgraded to version 8.
Do you produce a TIFF version? I currently use Capture One but I’m considering moving to DxO PL. when I moved from Lightroom to Capture One I discovered to my cost that raw edits were not transferred and only jpeg and TIFFs made it across successfully. I now always generate a TIFF file just in case. One of the downsides of C1 is that you can’t stack the versions so that you have the raw file at the bottom and then the various colour and b&w versions on top. You could do this in Apple's Aperture and I found it very useful. Can PL do that?
PL has an "Export" feature in which you can always generate a tiff or Jpeg when you want. When I need a TH-cam thumbnail, or instagram file, or want to continue a full size edit in Affinity I just generate the size and type of file I need. And all the edits are non destructive. If I hit the global reset button, the original raw or jpeg goes back to the original. And the original raw or jpeg is untouched unless you're in PL. As for multiple edits for the same image, just make sure you make a virtual copy and then you can edit the image as many different ways as you want. So they are not necessarily stacked by next to each other and separate. Capture One was very quirky, and you almost had to be the programmer to understand how it worked and what it was doing. With PL I feel very comfortable with what it does and how it does it.
LOL, welcome to 2024. And as a retired Airline pilot I can assure you there is no such thing as chemtrails, but you already knew that... ;). But it does point out that something like "Moonrise over Hernandez" is probably impossible now.
Interesting alternative to Lightroom - I like it!
With DXO Photolab and Affinity Photo 2.0 I can do anything I need or ever did in LR and PS. And faster, cheaper and better.

I'm waiting to see what the Black Friday sale in the US is like, I'll probably upgrade to 8 then.
Thank you
Hope it's helpful!

Too bad those chemtrails ruin those beautiful photos......
