- These are the final minutes of "Reel Life", the 26th and final episode (307th overall) of the 12th season of the 1978-91 CBS drama "Dallas".
This episode would mark the final regular appearance and departure of original cast member Linda Gray as the long suffering Sue Ellen Ewing. She wouldn't return to the role until the final episode two years later. The episode originally aired Friday, May 19, 1989
With a new marriage to English filmmaker Don Lockwood (Ian McShane), and after nearly two decades of putting up with his schemes, Sue Ellen Ewing has finally sought revenge on her ex-husband John Ross "J.R." Ewing, Jr. (Larry Hagman) by filming a movie that exposes every dirty trick that he has ever pulled. She warns him not to cross her or she will release the movie and that it will make him "the laughing stock of Texas". And with that, she walks out of J.R.'s life for good.......at least until the 1996 reunion movie.
It might not have been the best cliffhanger, but I was definitely glad that Sue Ellen finally managed to get the best of J.R.
You go suellen I've gotten that same indecent treatment also I know the feeling
"BURN IT SUEELLEN" 😂😂😂😂😂 I LOVE THAT LINE.....
I am so proud of Sue Ellen finally beating JR at his own game.
Jason Gibson Sue Ellen was just as bad as he was. She cheating on Jr with Cliff, Clint, Dusty! Jr was right when he said she was a drunk, a tramp and an unfit mother! And this ridiculous revenge was just a proof of that! Jr was and will always be the KING 👑
Boy oh boy, was this a bad cliffhanger! The last good season was 1986-87 and when Pam was killed off, the writing was on the wall for a once amazing show.
Her best acting suellen rules
And I thought that the “Good-bye Cliff Barnes cliffhanger was bad in 1982 but this beats it.
Ian McShane awesome actor
and, more importantly, LINDA GRAY/SUE ELLEN LOOKS FREAKING GREAT!!!
Sue Ellen got hotter and confident as years went by.
I think you ppl are missing the point: it was more a fitting exit for Sue Ellen versus a ridiculous NEED to have an "OMG the sky is fallin-what will happen to the ranch" cliffhanger. It was a fitting exit for ALL that Sue Ellen endured. Stop this whining and just understand that after 9 yrs of INVENTING cliffhangers, every now and then you just need 2 do DRAMA. Gray was missed, the show went on for 3 more yrs and HALLELUJAH it's back on TNT in 2012. I'm thankful. TRUE FANS should be also.
Best episode ever
AND WITH THE DEPARTURE OF LINDA GRAY, DALLAS WAS DESPERATELY OVER.....
Kudos suellen the know the feeling
Let's not forget those two Dallas TV Movies as well.
i just love dallas
Linda gray best actress
But at least JR finally got what he deserves, even La Vega ethered him
I don't know why I disliked this so much. It seems if you look back at how JR has treated Sue Ellen-especially the cheating and lockdown at that sanitarium. She could of come up with better than making a movie about him. The last seasons stunk pretty bad.
After getting shot by her sister ,then her .And now the movie. This man finally got what he asked for.
i really dont understand how this movie would hurt jr everybody in dallas knew what a scheming ruthless and horrible piece of shit he was anyway nothing in the movie would surprise anyone
will james unfortunately they needed some excuse to get rid of Sue Ellen when producers wanted to save money and didn’t renew Linda Gray’s contract. Larry Hagman knew it was a mistake because The JR character needed the Sue Ellen character. That whole Callie Harper plot line was just stupid and giving JR an illegitimate son was another bone headed move. As much as I loved Dallas, the series should have ended once Victoria Principal left because after Pam was gone, the show really went downhill fast..
bwahahahahahahahahahahaha! The LOOK on JR's face and how he was FINALLY put in his place by Sue Ellen! Absolutely delicious!
I loved when Sue Ellen use to punk JR!!
chuckles1972 Sue Ellen was a bitch! Jr was right when he said she was a drunk and a tramp and an unfit mother! She cheating on Jr with Cliff, Clint and Dusty! Jr was and will always be the KING 👑
This has somehow been edited. In the original before she walked down the stairs she said something like "And dont forget...ill be back"
JR, you will be the laughingstock of Texas.
QUEEN
She should have done a script of Valene's book "Capricorn Crude". Probably just as nasty as the movie she made about their marriage.
Kind of a weak way to end season 11, but at least Sue Ellen got her revenge.
JR did become in real life the laughing stock of the great state of Texas. The last two seasons were horrible and disrespected the state of Texas. I felt the last two seasons became a new show in its self.
Jason Gibson very true. The last 2 seasons are horrible
MY THEORY:
In 1997, bored, Sue Ellen Lockwood gives the film to a Hollywood producer, and J.R. is horrified by the news, so he decides to get HIMSELF committed, now extremely guilt-ridden for his evils over the years, leading to him preparing the good idea to try to do the right thing in season 2 of the TNT revival, which lasted three years, sadly.
The "Sue Ellen"was on midnight caller.
I put this cliffhanger up with the one when cliff tried to kill himself in the 1981-82 season ..Is was the point of the story. Not to have the most shocking cliffhanger...
Well, that end was not so exciting. I wish she would have saved until when she bought westars stocks so JR wouldn't take control of it. That would be a perfect revenge. Sue Ellen came out and said, hello my love in a conference room with all of people on the board from Westar. That would be her last revenge!
well, Sue Ellen pretty much did get some amount revenge on J.R. she shot him like her sister before her but, the short movie she made of him would hurt his ego and people would look at J.R. in a different light and loose his reputation no one does not want their dirty laundry to be in the public eye however you are correct the way they made Sue Ellen walk off the show is not good enough but, somewhat fair she finally got one over J.R. with Pam's ending it was bittersweet
Oh boy. I remember watching this when it first aired, it was terrible then and it's terrible now. JR would have simply said, go on release it, everyone knows I'm a bastard anyway.
DALLAS WAS ALREADY N TROUBLE WITH THE RATINGS, BUT LINDA GRAY'S DEPARTURE KILLED DALLAS ALL TOGETHER..... ESPECIALLY HER SEND OFF WAS EVEN MORE DISRESPECTFUL AS HELL 2 LINDA/ AND SUEELLEN.....
Click dat finger Gurl. SNAP
I hopw sue ellens movie if or when she release's it does better than val's book.
What with the music at the end.
This was the year when CBS Primetime had crappy season finales for all its nighttime soaps. The only good one was on ABC with Dynasty and its Unanswered Balcony...but only to see it cancelled.
Do you know the name of the song?
Is she still calling her self Lockwood in the new series?
No I think she went back to Ewing
Joseph Rodgers Thanks...season 4 commimg??
TNT cancelled Dallas so no Season 4 due to low ratings
Joseph Rodgers Ah...No wonder since Katherines dead ..pams dead jRs dead. Sad!cliff is a villian in 2012 ..when the in the orginal series he was a good guy sorta..Makes me think. XD thanks.
MrCraigblaze you're welcome I wasn't born when the original series came about but was around months before the first Dallas movie (JR Returns) came around
Burn it, Sue Ellen!!!! That shit was tv movie fare at best.
This was too stupid for words.
