Grubby i don't usually comment on videos but this one brought a smile to my face. When i was a kid i started with WC3, and then after getting to high school switched to Dota (i am 24y old now btw). Love both of the games and i will definitely support this type of videos. Huge love from Serbia!

There are so many people in the Dota scene who adore you. I would love to see a colab between you and Purge, Fear, Lacoste or the dozen others who watch your WC3 content. It is a massive learning curve to say the least. Just think about it, even playing through every hero once in the game requires like a hundred games. Also the heroes are much more distinct than they were in the old WC3 dota days, where a lot of heroes had skills that were carbon copies from WC3 heroes.

I've played both games about equally at this point and I like how they each offer something unique in the MOBA genre. I enjoy the fast-paced teamfight focus of HotS with some really creative heroes like Abathur and Cho'Gall, while the strategic mechanics in DotA can get pretty crazy when used their full potential (especially in pro play). Im really excited for you to do this! it´s a fun game and if you´re able to get into it, it feels more rewarding (but also more demanding) than HotS. At least imo. BUT: look into some guides/vids of basics or, since you´re a famous content creator yourself, reach out to some of the scene. I can recommend Purge, he does "train" fairly often. Also he´s a chill guy.
Anyway, getting help for/looking into the basics saves you alot of time AND NERVES (also for your team :P).

The dark ritual is removed because its considered too OP cause you can deny one unit from your creep wave instantly. (which is very important because in dota, lane creep is your main economy and also its disrupt lane equilibrium). and the frost armor is only remain on ogre magi jungle creep now. Good old days..

When dota was getting big in 2004/2005+ it created a huge division in the warcraft 3 community. Many of the serious ladder players (ie normal game mode) thought dota was for newbs that couldn't hack it in proper matches. And then all the other custom map players that liked enfos/footy/TD etc hated dota because it quickly became 95% of custom maps people were playing. Basically by 2005 there were 3 distinct types of people who played warcraft 3 - ladder players, custom map players, and dota players. It was quite normal for each type not to ever play another type.
And within a few years dota grew so much it was probably 95% of people that played warcraft 3, and then eventually they split off into playing private servers and only the newbs still played on bnet. Anyway my point is... I'm not surprised if hardcore ladder players like Grubby (and probably Lyn, ToD, Madfrog, Sky etc) never got into dota.

@@ajcl_gaming7061 good point most people knew what they liked and stayed in their lane. Dota ruled the cg list and had sooo many versions and spin offs. I mostly played an obscure version called danites hell. All skills were fully randomized each game. Made for chaos!

@@Rick-zw9kp Yeah there were tons of weird ones originally. I liked this version where when you killed creeps in your jungle they respawned in your own wave. So it was a race to jungle the fastest to overwhelm the enemies lane.

@@ajcl_gaming7061 as a custom map, you couldn't edit it with map editor .. needed an unlock, and custom map editor addon to even open it .. had custom spells / "triggers" (scripts) not available in regular map editor .. i played around with editor quite a bit -- this was quite the operation, not ordinary custom game made by an individual hobbyist

Hello Grubby. Seeing you give DotA a try really brought a smile to my face. Happy to see you giving it a shot. I'm sure that, as a WC3 pro that you are, you will be very good at the game. Just give it some time and practice and I'm confident you'll start owning everyone in no time. :D I have 10k hours in the game and can help if you have any questions about the game. If you need any help with it, let me know.
But please, play it more. :D I am super happy you even gave it a try. IMO, you'll love it more than HotS.

Hi Grubby, DOTA has an extremely steep learning curve for brand new players (requiring atleast 1000 hours of gameplay just to get past the skill floor).
But due to your competitive background of these kind of games, you have a very good mechanical grasp of DOTA already (denying, last hitting, etc)
I am certain you will get around to playing ranked much faster than usual beginners. There is a great DOTA personality called Purge you could potentially partner with in your learning journey and possibly create bridges into the professional scene (commentary, analysis, etc)

You catch things so fast, would love to see you learn Dota and play from time to time, I feel you would learn it and be in above average end of mmr pretty fast, it would be def be interesting to follow your journey if you decide to try it on.

You can also use the setting Select Hero button to follow hero something like that. That way you only need to click space ones, hold if you wanna

Nice first game. I used to play a lot of DotA (both 1 and 2), but stopped 5-6 years ago. If I may suggest it, perhaps contact Purge (who is the creator of a famous beginner's guide to dota 2) for a collab on twitch/youtube. He did something similar with a starcraft player a couple years ago and he's a patient and knowledgeable teacher.
    Looking forward more!

Maybe useless thing to point out but at 1:34 Grubby swipes his hand and claims about a hundred heroes are present. My brain cannot make that estimate. This is very interesting to realize that some brains have that capacity. Now thinking about it, I always found it so impressive how grubby goes into skirmishes during matches and the numbers of units on his side versus the opponent don't make sense to me, and he is able to measure that the numbers make sense to engage the skirmish. Still developing these thoughts, one very hard thing to me in war3 is balancing my team size, seeing what I have and what is missing in my units. I literally have to count each unit to remember "ah I lost some shaman and I have my mental plan that I must keep 3 with me, so I need to make more". I'm pointing these things out in case you don't realize these might be specific to your brain and to your training. Like I said, maybe useless to point out, still interesting to me to realize this is an actual capability I didn't realize existed.
