Oh wow. Thank you so much for the kind words. I do love this van and think they did a good job on them and continue to evolve how they do these build outs.
Wow. This was a great review. Answered all of my questions and even ones I would have never thought of. Ive been comparing Coachmen B’s and this is absolutely the one for me. Going to pull the trigger now..can’t wait to get in it!
This is the walk-through of the Beyond RB that I have been searching for. It is by far the most thorough presentation Thank you for the demonstration and comments. Love this layout, especially the windows. Thank you!
Thank you so very much! Once I’m back from this road trip I’m on I will be posting how I keep the van ready to use all year, even in the Rockies, so that it is a true 4 season rig.
Great walkthrough of your Coachman Beyond, very informative. We are hoping to take delivery of our Beyond in late January or early February. I was wondering if it was difficult taking of the Coachman name off the van? I also don't care for all the branding and stickers that manufacturers put on their vans. Thanks again
@@chrisaronson4531 it wasn’t hard at all. I used, and recommend, plastic razor blades. You can find them on Amazon pretty cheap. I also used 3M adhesive remover. It comes in a spray can and is $12-$15 on Amazon as well. I didn’t warm the decals, I just used the plastic razors to scrape them off then sprayed enough of the remover to soak the remains glue. The plastic razors made short work of the glue after soaking for a minute. No scratches on the paint or damage to the clear coat.
This was a fantastic video in how you touched on details that get ignored by a salesperson's review. You intimately know your van, as well as the other layouts for comparing/contrasting. It was bumming me out about there being no fan in those other layouts, and I totally wouldn't have known this ONE layout includes it! Very thorough...I appreciate your time/effort.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Second time watching parts of this for specific questions I have with the RB. Do you keep this rig on your driveway all year? Thanks again!
Absolutely do! I keep it in the driveway pulled in as far as I can go so that I don't block the sidewalk in front of my house. I'm single/divorced and downsized to a smaller home and I still manage to keep it with me without any issues from my neighbors. One of the upsides to a van versus a full traditional RV.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Those are exactly the reasons I'm looking only at this style of RV to buy. It should fit in my driveway by a hair, so I may not add a front bumper bar..but I won't have to pay to store it! I also want everything tucked inside, so it's 4-season useable here in the Pacific NW.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Not at all dry. Just a nice presentation and easy to understand and follow. Hope you have great adventures in this van. Hopefully you will keep us up to date on how it goes.
You most definitely have a gift for doing presentations.....so crystal clear...so easy to listen to.....speaking at the perfect speed for what I'm guessing would be the average person comprehension/following speed. Glad you're enjoying your work/camping van so much. I'd like to see the other floor plans as well.
Your reasoning for buying an already built van is similar to mine. I'm 63 and getting ready to retire. I don't want to have to wait for a Transit 350HD dually AWD Ecoboost that I order, then wait for an outfitter to configure and build it to my spec. I just as soon buy one from a manufacturer (most likely a Coachmen 22C LI3) then put some additional solar and batteries on it and then probably a Van Compass 2" lift w/ Fox Shocks and new leaf springs. Maybe some bigger/beefier tires and I'm good to go! PS: Love the T-shirt. My sentiments exactly. USGC '77-'83. Semper Paratus.
This is one of the best reviews, I've seen. Thank you so much. The pace and explanation was great! I'm sold on the Coachman. Just need to decide on which floor plan. But your comments regarding the vent fan in the rear bath, has made me second guess the floor plan to the RB.
Nice walk through. I have a 2020 22CEB Li3 and love it. I too have removed all stickers and letting from mine including Transit and 350HD. I even removed my awning.
Just now finding your channel. I am torn between the beyond or nova, but love AWD. Really considering the Nova 22D or the Beyond 22D Love your shirt. Retired USMC here.
That was a great review. Just purchased a 2021 but have not received yet. Getting the rear bath also and at one point thought maybe the "D" version would be better but your review reassured me that I chose the right one. Thanks so much for the indepth review
Thanks and congratulations on the van purchase! The "D" was the runner up for me as well. After over 6 months in the van it is still somewhat of a runner up. I find that the option of laying in bed and having the rear doors open only works well in areas without anyone walking by your van. Otherwise, at least for me, I don't like having my living quarters so open to the public. Anywhere that I have boondocked and could leave the van doors open due to lack of people, I was already outside lounging anyway.
You’re welcome. You may want to join the owners group on Facebook. That group is so active and always helping owners with questions and other stuff. I love it.
That was my feeling as well with the rear bath. Did you notice the windows? I also get full use of ALL the windows in the van and the bath takes up the part of the van without any windows. Lots of light makes the van feel more open too.
Excellent review and walk through. I’ve watched dozens and dozens of Class B reviews and your clear, honest and informative presentation is definitely the best I’ve seen and helped me understand the more technical side somewhat better. I’ve been thinking of a B for many months now and my dilemma is do I rent one first to see if this is really for me or just line up and order one? The rentals I’ve viewed are so expensive that by the time I tried one out I could have used that for a down payment. I would at times be traveling alone but also at times with a friend along. Your set up after listening to you seems ideal for me even though I was iffy about a rear bath. I liked your description of how it works so well for you. Thanks again for this super review.
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words! The cost of the vans, even to rent, versus the size is kind of a put off unless you are pretty sure this is what you want. I have to admit, there are times that I think a nice 27-30 ft Class A seems like a nice option, especially when I am in a RV park, but I would never be able to comfortably park in all the places I do. A trailer would make that even worse. As for the rear bath, it does make it really easy for me to take people with me as the standing area in the shower seems larger. Taking a shower is still tight as in most wet baths, but as a changing room it works really well for travelers that want a private area with a little room. The only way to really open up the other types of Class B wet baths are the install a shower extender which is a shower rod that arches out beyond the shower to create more shoulder room. I like not having to do that. One thing I don't think I mentioned in the video, which I think is addressed in the 2021 models is that I do not have a place to hang my showerhead when I shower. There is no wall mount so you have to lay it in the sink and pick it up to rinse; etc. Overall I still love it!
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Thank you for your response. Yes I questioned that there was no place to hang the shower head. Years ago I towed a Coleman pop-up tent trailer. It did have a wet bath and it did have a place to hang the shower head. Hopefully they’ve caught on for the new ones. Happy travels and look forward to watching more of your videos.
This is the one I love however I am going back an forth between the back bathroom and the middle side bathroom. My main reason is that I can just picture myself backing up to a lake or beach and laying in the bed in the back with the back doors open and just relaxing while looking at the scenery. I know there are drawbacks like I need a screen for bugs so the view is not the best. What are your thoughts, pros and cons on both. thanks
Hi and thanks for watching and the question. Honestly I tossed back and forth about the same thing. In reality it was a really close call for me and I may end up tossing back and forth on my next van as well. I like that the RB has a bigger bathroom. There is also better storage for clothes and other things in there. The back doors are not insulated like the rest of the van and often times people put up thick curtains to help keep the heat or cold off them if their bed is in the back. The rest of the van feels more open and you get the benefit of having both sides of the van's windows for natural light through the whole van. The downside is that some people will say, you don't spend that much time in the bathroom anyway so why worry. There is also the opening the back doors to the world. I can say that for the majority of the time I am not opening doors like that or in a place I can. Even at the lake, you will be in the parking lot with a sidewalk behind the van between you and the water with people walking by. It's possible to do like what we see on social media, but my personal experience has been that is not really the case, especially in a van this size and weight. The back doors being opened up and sitting there would come in handy at those turn out vistas where you just want to hang out for a little bit. There were also technical considerations like where the tanks where at; etc.
Fantastic walk through. I am a very detailed person so your video was great. I'm sorry that there is no larger refrigerator/freezer in this unit. I may have missed it but what is the approximate gas millage on the van? Also in the future you might consider doing a video of measurements (height of beds, cabinet widths, width between beds, you name it, etc.) I think that there is a small opening window in that door but no videos that I have seen does not show the van door closed when you're inside.
The gas mileage I get is about 12-13 MPG but I also drive pretty fast on the highway. If I were not such a lead foot I would be getting about 13-14 MPG. This is on the 2019 chassis with a 6-speed transmission and the ecoboost. 2020 and newer chassis are all 10-speed with ecoboost and they have been getting 15-16 MPG when driven nicely. The van sliding door does have a venting window. There is one on both sides of the van in the front and in the back. The one on the sliding door gets opened quite a bit but the one behind my galley sink it often not messed with so that I don't have to fidget with the blinds to get them back down low behind the counter.
Thanks! That's very much appreciated. I'm trying to release another video this week showing how I keep the van ready for adventures during the winter without fully winterizing it.
Thank you for your detailed review! Especially mentioning the pricing difference of of sticker and actual price to pay! I have a 23 foot travel trailer at the moment. I plan to go solo travel, thus down sizing and not having to go through the hassle of towing etc. I watch tons of van conversion videos but haven't considered buying an already converted van like this. I didn't realize the sticker/actual purchase price difference. The cost of purchasing a van plus the cost of converting, the months of self labor, and headaches versus hop in and go has got me looking another direction!
Wow thank you! I’m so glad I could help you. I was definitely sold on building my own until I really looked at the true cost and tax advantages were, plus all the new tech that works together better.
Hi! Thanks for asking for the update. I do plan to make another video showing what's gone wrong and what's gone right with the van. Overall it's been better than I could have expected.
Great job in your review of the Transit Beyond 22RB model. I have watched a lot of different Class B videos and like the other comments below, yours is one of the best. I am so glad you mentioned the MSRP and what the possible real price you could pay. Not sure why the other videos won't say anything about the price. I am grateful you added what the differences in the other Beyond models and what options you can add or not add. My question to you after you have driven and slept in it. What would you add or not add on your next Class B and would it be the same Ford Transit chassis? I am leaning towards buying a new Ford Transit model which is why my question. Thanks for a job well done.
Hi! Thank you for the compliments and great question. I'm working on a follow up video to update on how things have been with the van. In short, I am definitely adding the lithium battery. I have heard stories of people not driving enough to charge them without a generator so I'm glad I will have both at that point (over 300ah of lithium AND the genny versus the AGM battery I have now). There are other little things like installing the ability to use a curtain versus window shades in the front would be nice. For the things that are not easily user installed, 1 or 2 have been added to future models of this van like a water recirculatory that helps you not waste water like at home when running the faucet to get the water warm. Stuff like that wastes water. Now that I have used the tanks, I feel like even though the blank tank isn't all that big, having one slightly smaller would not be a big deal for 2 people if that could allow the gray tank to be slightly larger. Nothing huge or major. As for the Transit platform. I absolutely love it still. Oil changes are weird in that Ford states this is a commercial vehicle and only needs oil changes like once every 12 months or 30,000 miles but most people change the oil more often like in a car. The short wheelbase of 148inches is nice for turning but leaves a long "hangover" past the back wheels (typical in vans usually) and I have scrapped the hitch a few times pulling out of certain driveways. Maybe a slightly longer wheelbase would work better. I've seen some Transit HD's with wheelbases in 155"-ish area but they were all converted into large box trucks. The 10 speed transmission on the 2020 frames versus the 2019 and earlier 6-speeds (like mine) seem to get slightly better gas mileage. I absolutely would not trade the Ford's 3.5 liter Ecoboost Turbo engine for anything. The Transit also has an All-Wheel drive option whereas the Sprinter if I am not mistaken still has a 4x4 option. Big difference in how those work in snow and slippery conditions and I would choose All-Wheel drive over the 4x4 any day.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Thank you for your reply. I have some other questions. You mention adding lithium batteries to your Beyond in your reply. Will you be going back to the RV dealer or the Coachmen factory to have lithium batteries installed? Or would a 3rd party lithium battery dealer be able to install what you need and possibly be less expensive than by the Coachmen factory? And what advise would you give about buying a factory installed lithium battery system, costing $20,000 from Coachmen or installing by a third party after you have driven your Beyond for months?
@@larrygee2613 Great questions Larry. The benefits of getting a van built just keep working out for me. Because of the Firefly control system I have as well as the type of inverter I have; etc, I can drop in a lithium battery to replace my AGM. I just need to make an adjustment on my inverter panel to the LiPo function. My AGM is an 8 cell battery and is a common to find in Lithium with the same dimensions, it will just weigh a lot less (Lithium is like less than half the weight). So I am going to do the drop in replacement myself. As for buying the Lithium system versus building and installing after, from what I have learned about these systems and the almost infinite ways you can have them configured, unless you have a very specific need for a certain amount of power/amps/amphours I would go with the factory installed systems or at least a builder that has a "system" for how they install and balance their power system. Hope that helps!
We are confused about the grey tank comments. Can you clarify the situation about the tank location, inside or outside, exposed to the weather or out of the weather? Excellent video!
Hi and thanks for watching! On this model and floor plan, the 2020 22RB the grey tank is the only tank on the outside of the van exposed to weather. It is the only tank with a heater because of that. The other floor plans, with AGM batteries and a generator like mine also have just one tank exposed (pretty there are no exceptions to that). With the lithium battery option the 22C model gets 2 tanks on the outside with one being the freshwater tank. This is due to the space needed for the batteries as they are inside the van (the AGM batteries are on the outside). I hope that helps.
Sorry for the late reply. I had to confirm it but I was correct. On the AWD Li3 the grey tank is the only one on the outside and it has a tank heater. Confirmed through the owner’s group on Facebook.
I stumbled into somebody looking to sell one of these. So i went back and watched this again. You did a great job on the walkthough explaining everything. You mentioned that you go off road a bit and you never have had any troubles. Is yours a RWD or AWD? Perhaps you mentioned it and i overlooked it. Thanks!!!!!
Hi David! Thanks for watching and the kind words. Mine is a RWD. The van distributes just over 2 tons of weight per axle so sinking into the dirt/sand/mud is what I had to look out for. Traction and power was not an issue for me. I hope that helps!
Great video. Thanks. Did I understand correctly that the waste storage hose compartment is only 5' long? Is the supplied hose accordion style such that you could get one that was longer than 5' when needed.
You understood correctly. The outside hose storage will fit maybe some 10 foot hoses but not any of the higher end, tough hoses. The tube is only like 27 or 28 inches which makes it a few inches short for a 10 foot Rhino hose. I can fit a 5 foot in the tube though and use that for the black and have a 5 foot extension in the back of the can if I need it. Apparently the company that did my van is now using a longer tube that can even fit the elbow while it’s attached to the hose.
Hi thoroughly enjoyed your video, love the layout with the back bathroom. Could you tell me what size your seating is please especially the width of the cushions. Thank you, take care and stay safe from the UK x
Hi! The seats/beds in the back are 28 in / 71 cm wide. They are slightly different lengths though with the driver side cushion being 76in/193cm long but the other one is 72in/183cm long. Thanks so much for the question. Cheers!
I do love that almost every year the chassis being used is getting more and more of the Ford higher end options as standard. Keep in mind to make sure you ask for the build sheet for any van you are looking at. The chassis can trail the "year" model of the van build by as many as 3 years max, although its usually 2 years on average. So it may not be until the 2023 builds that you get a lot of them built on 2021 chassis. I'm sure there may be ways to go factory direct and make sure what you get is built on the 2021.
Nicely done walk thru. Thanks for all the detail. As a B van owner (PW), with the typical forward bath, you’ve about convinced me that this rear bath model with twin beds is the ticket. The one question I have is how well that drop down sink works. Do you have to wipe it out prior to closing to prevent water running down the wall? And the drain looks much smaller than a std one, so how well does it drain?
Thanks for checking out the video and the kind words. The drop down sink does sometimes drain a little slow depending on the slope of the van which is remedied by shimmying the sink up and down a bit. You don't get 100% of the water out of it. You will have maybe 2-3 tablespoons still in there that will drip down the wall where the hinge is. It has never been enough to warrant me wiping it down although I suppose I could wipe the sink ahead of time to avoid any leakage. The shower drains fine but just like in other vans you need to be aware of which way you can allow the van to slope and it still drain well. In regards to size of the drain, it hasn't been an issue with the exception of pet hair. It clogs quickly with just a little of my pups' hair in there but I got a good hand vac for the van and just use that while the shower is dry (before taking a shower) and its not an issue.
Very interesting I struggle on do I want to build a van or buy A custom built or manufacture build . the problem with manufacture builds is I am not happy with the layouts. But I feel I don’t have the money for a custom build or the time to do myself because of my job .
I was of a similar opinion as you at one point. I was going to do my own build out but most of the DIY or custom build outs that include showers and toilets had super custom, fabricated parts to make it work and usually it was something like a drop down shower curtain in the middle of the van. Anything else custom built with a good bathroom and storage was SUPER expensive (like Outside Van). Now that I am in one that I was worried about the layout, I have found my concerns to be unfounded.
Good review. You sleep length wise not laterally in the 22D when the bed is extended. Much larger frig in the 22D. 2 separate dumps for black and gray tanks in the rear bath model? Bummer.
With vans there are always trade offs. With the rear bath you technically never have to "set up" you beds since they are set up as twins. I will eventually mod them to be able to push together but its nice to not have to set up anything if I want to boondock in a pinch. The rear bath also has a larger black tank and a separate exhaust van and more cabinet storage. I do like the D model and how those bench seats have cup holders, backrests, and are more narrow so that the aisle is wider to walk through.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure You are absolutely right about the cushions on the D being narrow and uncomfortable. That’s why I did a mod to increase the width and replace the mattresses. You are also correct about trade offs. They all have them no matter what the RV is. Good job. Most thorough review I’ve seen on the Beyond.
@C and R Higgins I went through La Mesa RV in Abq, NM. I liked them fine, it was more of a transaction since I was looking all over for the van I wanted. They did help me with the registration and making sure I could do it in NM versus UT where I live. Saved me over $3,000 in taxes!
For the blind you can use a small plastic L clip (for shelving )with a double sided tape or if you can catch the metal you can glue a small magnet behind the blind ... Enjoy your toy ...
Dude, in the 22RB , can you turn the two twin beds into one king bed? What goes in the middle as a cushion if you can? Can you do a video on converting the twin bed into one big bed? Thanks dude!
Hi there! Technically you can't push the beds together straight from the factory, they are fixed in place. I do plan on doing a simple mod to add a leaf. There's a cushion company that a lot of vanlife peeps use to make fillers. The idea will be to get 2 fillers that are about half the gap width but are the same length of the couch and use them as lower back rests while traveling and then as fillers when the beds are pushed together. I will definitely post that video.
Really! You can’t put the twin beds together! Lame! How can they forget a design flaw like that? Usually they have supports and cushions for the middle to make one big bed! Now you got to do a DIY to make the twin beds into one big bed? WTF! It’s Like taking a shit and wiping with your hand. I was looking to get the RB but now have to get the 22C. Tell me why they did not design an option to fill the middle to make one big bed???? I don’t fucking get it!
@@sccphilly Its more about the preference and then I guess the company making it appeal to many. The setup you're referring to is on the 22D plan but it doesn't have the rear bath and when you push them together you are supposed to sleep on them width ways versus length ways like I do in the 22RB. The couches on the 22D are also not as long as mine which is why you are supposed to sleep width way. The beds on the 22RB are real twins which is they are longer. Also, if the 22RB was set up for the beds to be pushed together people might complain that now there isn't a clear way to the bathroom. In reality most people don't care about that, I would have loved to have the option and just choose whether or not if I want to care about the aisle being blocked, but I knew this when I bought it and decided the little bit of DIY is worth having the larger rear bath.
Hi - I am curious as to how your rate the build quality of the Beyond as I am interested in the rig. Currently have a ‘18 Travato. Have you needed to contact the company as to any warranty repairs / issues?
Hi! Love this question. I have not had any issues that require warranty repair. With that said, I have had some minor issues with the drawers, both the slides and latches. My large wardrobe drawers have come out twice while driving and since the slides have a blue plastic latch holding the drawer on the rail and also from sliding out too much, those blue plastic slide holders break. I just got a set to replace on the one drawer and now the drawer above it came out and snapped the little plastic blue latches. These are different than the black latches that are used to keep the drawer closed. Those break too and on the wardrobe drawers I feel like the 1 they have on each drawer is not enough.
I used plastic razors and 3M adhesive remover. Here is the link to the exact razors I used as well as the exact 3M spray. www.amazon.com/dp/B076BBW1WM/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_NZANM0AJ3V1NMASTX0K4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EBNTYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you! I drive with a somewhat lead foot and often times faster than I know most drive these on the interstate but usually I get around 12.6 mpg. Mine is a 2019 chassis with 6 speed automatic. The 2020’s and up have 10 speed automatics and get 1-3 more mpg than I do.
Lol, sorry. I was torn about showing the toilet, it was right below the vanity in the rear bath. I thought that people might not want to have a look at it. It's an RV style toilet. I made sure to get a porcelain bowl as it makes it easier to keep clean (from what I read). Having the full bath also enables the van to be considered like a second home, and since I bought it from a company that converts vans it is also already listed as a Class B for registration and financing so I can write off the interest I pay on my taxes just like a home.
Love this van for full-time living but have a few dislikes and several extreme likes. Totally dislike the windows. Would prefer the lexan double pane EU awning windows. Dislike the shades. Dislike monitor panels installed on the backwall of cabinets which limits the use of the cabinets for storage. Dislike the tip down sinks, even the newer ones with center drains. Would like convection oven for baking. Like the layered controls and lighting. The electronics and power packages. Love the DC roof air conditioner and DC television. Love the Ford Transit van gasoline engine with great HP.
Thanks! Yup, there's always little pros and cons. A lot of the folks that have similar vans as me are getting them without certain options like the awning and other stuff so they can do exactly what you are referencing, install what they prefer versus what the factory will install.
I always get those confused lol. All I do know for sure is that I need to stay with the total Combined Vehicle Weight Rating when towing which according to the chassis stats means I can tow around 4,200-4,500 lbs, which I think is plenty considering that I have everything I need in the van already.
I see what your saying about the droop in the center of the shade. That would bother me. Shame it has to be there right where you enter the van. But re-securing that now would most likely require the removal of the upper wall cabs. then the wall panel that covers the shade frame. That would be a nightmare with the electronics involved. Solution: Find a calk that matches the darker color of the wall panel and the gap would be less obvious. Only you would ever know it was there. An old saying from the home building business - "That's why God created calk"
That’s just from my limited experience and from a few other people I met. I was initially shopping for this model plus 3-4 others, some on the sprinter chassis. I never came across any vans where the price was hard set on MSRP although the amount I could negotiate down varied based on the model and how hard it was to find.
Great question. My ProAir unit has a feature that allows it to turn itself "down" as it approaches the temperature on the thermostat. This is supposed to result in lower power consumption as it gets cooler, but it often makes the thing run longer with the fan on and compressor off if you ask me. Because of that, it varies how long you can run it as the outside temp factors in pretty big on that. If I were in 85F weather or so I could run it maybe 3 hours because the unit would not be pulling the most power that it could draw. Anything more than that and it could actually not run since it will need the largest power draw. It varies but at the max power draw it's like 90-100 amps which is more than most AGM batteries can supply constantly especially if you consider that you may have other devices running off the battery as well. There are reports that Coachman is now putting stickers on the D/C powered air conditioning units saying not to run them off an AGM battery because of the power draw.
Thanks but also sorry, I didn't even realize I had that shirt on until I started editing the video lol. I'm a veteran and do agree with the shirt if you know the story of the guy featured on it though!
No, not the one in the bath. There is that spray hose that attaches to the outside of the van on the driver side but it is 100% cold water only (not sure if I mentioned that in the video).
Hi! Thanks for watching. I actually do still like it. My AGM battery just crapped out on me but I also use the heck out of it in “extreme” conditions. I am in fact going to get a Bertha 2.0 later. I’m working on a new video to update on what went wrong, what broke and needed to be fixed, and what I would change; etc.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Watched your video twice and took some notes. I am shopping for a class B so your video was very very helpful in narrowing down my decision. I look forward to your new video then :). I hope you get the time to post in the next few weeks. Again, thank you for educating all of us.
I don't want to violate any formal or informal "rules" around revealing exact sales costs for things that are negotiable, but what I will say is that while I bought this new and the MSRP is just over $140K I was able to negotiate to under $100K and it was during a time right as the demand was starting to spike and this was a 2020 with 2021's on order waiting for arrival (and were delayed) at the dealership.
I show them in the first walkthrough video but you are right, I do want to modify the beds so that they can be combined to form one full/queen. I'll need to get some custom foam cushion work done for the filler and a way to bridge the gap between the beds. That will be a video all on its own to included the step by step build (and any rage quits out of frustration lol).
That’s always the trade off with vans. You have to travel smaller than class C and others. Some do install boxes on the rear doors to hold things like tabletop gas grills; etc. Winnebago just released the Ekko which is on the Transit frame and they still consider it a Class B but the entire body is not van like (no doors on the back; etc) but it has a gear garage and more water capacity and all that. Could be a good option for you if you want a smaller Class B but with more capacity than a traditional one.
Great video and thanks for doing it! We are big fans of the Beyond 22RB, and are considering selling our 32.5' Jayco Greyhawk and purchasing one of these. We will likely get the Li3 package. I will probably have a lot of questions for you if you don't mind? There don't seem to be many RB owners on the Beyond FaceBook group from my experience ( my FB name is franklinesmith). You didn't mention if you had upgraded the insulation package to phase change or Kozi Wrap. A suggestion, regarding your vent fan light issue, you might consider one of these to block light from your vent fan. We have them for our Class C and they work for blocking light, heat and cold. Hi and thank you! I will absolutely answer any and all questions you have, now and in the future. I do have the upgraded insulation (phase change). I have the AGM batteries but will upgrade to an 8D lithium battery probably next season. Bertha will end up being a hybrid with lithium AND a generator in case I need it.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure I have thought of doing that too, I did upgrade my Class C to lithium. The issue I'm having with the 22RB is where to locate the batteries inside. I'm not aware of any open spots big enough for batteries. Of course you could place them outside where the AGM is, but from the looks of that, it seems a bit unaccessible. My lithium battery on my class C is outside the living area in an open bottom battery compartment. It's a LifeBlue with built in Bluetooth and a internal heater, which allows it to be charged down to -4 F.
I'm going to try and put mine where the current AGM is outside the van now that most of the 8D lithium batteries come with internal heaters. There isn't any venting required for the lithium batteries and they seem to be less maintenance as well. Maybe it won't work out but that's the plan so far.
Totally understand and support your position. Most people that know the story of the person on the shirt support it, especially combat veterans which I am one. Sorry it was distracting for you.
This is actually one of the Best Demonstrations I have ever seen of any vehicle! Coachman should be paying you for how well you presented their Van!
Oh wow. Thank you so much for the kind words. I do love this van and think they did a good job on them and continue to evolve how they do these build outs.
This is one of the best reviews I have seen. Thank you so much for covering what matters in a clear, concise, and intelligent manner.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching my video!
Wow! Thank you so very much! I really appreciate the kind words.
Best RV walk around i have ever seen & i have seen a lot of them ...Thanks
Thank you so very much!
You should be a teacher. I have extreme adhd and your presentation style still held my attention through the whole video. And nice van.
Thank you so very much! It really means a lot. I like to be funny and have been trying to be more serious and was afraid I was being too dry.
Thank you! That is so kind and flattering. Stuff like this really pumps me up to keep making more content!
That build is what I’m thinking on my next one. Thanks for watching Devil Dog!
This is one of the best reviews, I've seen. Thank you so much. The pace and explanation was great! I'm sold on the Coachman. Just need to decide on which floor plan. But your comments regarding the vent fan in the rear bath, has made me second guess the floor plan to the RB.
I must say YOU did a excellent explanation on this van. I really needed this before my purchase on one. Thank you very much. Good Job. A+A+A+
Thanks for watching and the kind words! It means a lot.
Great review! Thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to you explain in such detail.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Great flow of details in your tour , thank you for sharing !
Thank you! I am so glad you liked it!
Totally enjoyed the review... Learned a lot. The Coachmen Beyond is on our short list.
Thanks! I have thoroughly enjoyed having the van.
Excellent presentation!! I agree with your shirt. Thanks for the comparison info.
You bet!
Nice job! We’re actually starting van life in January!
Use a dark screen mash on the van cover works well and won't stop the air flow
Nice walk through. I have a 2020 22CEB Li3 and love it. I too have removed all stickers and letting from mine including Transit and 350HD. I even removed my awning.
Thanks! I've thought about removing the awning as well. I haven't used it once since I got the van lol.

I also realized this one has much more storage than the other two plus having that pull down screen in the back
Thank you. We have a 22C so not everything matched yet this was still helpful
You’re welcome. You may want to join the owners group on Facebook. That group is so active and always helping owners with questions and other stuff. I love it.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
Thank you so much. This is very informative! Hoping to purchase something similar before the end of 2021.
I was a fan of this stuff too before I decided to just jump in. 2020 being such a stressful year may have played a part!
I like how it’s not giving you a feeling of claustrophobia, which a lot of vans do as they try to pack them with everything!
I like the back bathroom because I have a dog. To be able to open the rear doors, and wash him off without entering the living area is a HUGE plus.
We have a 2020 coachman but with the bench seat/bed in back we love it
I like the bench seat too. Eventually I will mod my beds to push together as well so I can have 2 separate sleeping options.
Thanks for your good explanatory video👍
Thanks! That's very much appreciated. I'm trying to release another video this week showing how I keep the van ready for adventures during the winter without fully winterizing it.
great review and walkthrough ! Thanks !
Thank you and you’re welcome!
Great presentation thank you
Thank you. You're welcome!
Great video, and really like your "coach!" The rear bath is so much better than most class Bs. Also, your shirt is cool too!
Thanks so much!
Use some fabric spray starch on those blinds...will help when you open them up.
Awesome! Thanks! I'll try that. I'm assuming that it makes it more firm so it won't fold in on itself.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Yes, those accordion blinds are a pain...the spray starch helps keep the creases.
Great info, I love your van.

Upvote for the shirt alone. Great review.
Thanks partner! Some folks have been offended by it but most that know the story of the dude on the shirt would probably say the same thing.
i am watching this video and see your shirt. most of the guys we traded are now running the show over in afghanistan
I know brother. It’s really driving me nuts.
Give us an update on how your RV is holding up.
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure We are considering the 2020 22RB LI3. Could there be a different tank configuration?
Thank you. Awaiting delivery of a 2021 so will see how long it is.
Cheers!
Excellent!
Many thanks!
I luv your van
its fantastic.
Thank you!!
im awaiting the new led headlights and electric sliding door standard in 2021.................
Excellent review!!
Thanks!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Thanks! Love the tip!
The plastic latches for drawers, etc. are made by a company called Breaks-a-lot. RV builders love them…🤪
Dude, in the 22RB , can you turn the two twin beds into one king bed?
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Much appreciated 😀

Thank you! I drive with a somewhat lead foot and often times faster than I know most drive these on the interstate but usually I get around 12.6 mpg. Mine is a 2019 chassis with 6 speed automatic. The 2020’s and up have 10 speed automatics and get 1-3 more mpg than I do.
They should put all those electric and water hook ups under a covered door and possible lockable.
I agree! It's one the things that makes me green with envy when I see B+ vans with those compartments.
Did i miss the toilet? Great van!! Very through....
Gracias muy buena informacion......👍
¡Gracias! ¡Me alegra que te haya gustado!
Class 3 (III) hitch is 5000 lb, class 5(V) is 10,000+ pounds.
I always get those confused lol. All I do know for sure is that I need to stay with the total Combined Vehicle Weight Rating when towing which according to the chassis stats means I can tow around 4,200-4,500 lbs, which I think is plenty considering that I have everything I need in the van already.
He is smart
Thanks!
I 100% agree with you. I think I’m just going to leave it. I do seem to be the only one that ever notices it lol.
Nice van. This is on my short list to get in three years. So 20% off the MSRP is the norm?
That’s just from my limited experience and from a few other people I met. I was initially shopping for this model plus 3-4 others, some on the sprinter chassis. I never came across any vans where the price was hard set on MSRP although the amount I could negotiate down varied based on the model and how hard it was to find.
Dude, how long can you run roof ac with agm house batteries without engine on, just off agm batteries?
Best shirt ever.
Thanks but also sorry, I didn't even realize I had that shirt on until I started editing the video lol. I'm a veteran and do agree with the shirt if you know the story of the guy featured on it though!
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure yep. I am well aware of what a POS that dude is. Thanks for your service. Wife of a navy vet !
Will the shower head reach outside for use?
No, not the one in the bath. There is that spray hose that attaches to the outside of the van on the driver side but it is 100% cold water only (not sure if I mentioned that in the video).
Still at 100K the drawer latches better last!
You want to vent those doo doo 💩 smells! You have children, don’t you? I love your van!
Every time I use that bathroom that’s exactly what goes through my head, “think of the children” lol! Thanks for checking Bertha out!
@@TeamLynchSpiritofAdventure Thank you so much for sharing!
Do you still like your coachmen?
How can I see this model and price.
These vans are in high demand and short supply right now. Shoot me an email and we can discuss further if you like. Thanks!
Are you afraid that people will steal your bikes if you keep your bikes on the outside of the van? Thanks!
Absolutely. I actually just took the factory bike rack off and will be using a hitch one that has a better way to lock the bikes onto the carrier.
Do you mind me asking what you paid for that van thank you
I don't want to violate any formal or informal "rules" around revealing exact sales costs for things that are negotiable, but what I will say is that while I bought this new and the MSRP is just over $140K I was able to negotiate to under $100K and it was during a time right as the demand was starting to spike and this was a 2020 with 2021's on order waiting for arrival (and were delayed) at the dealership.
You didn’t show the beds? 🤦♀️
Why not just paint the outside cover of your fan black so light doesn't come through.
Tim - I actually never considered that and think it could be a great option. Thanks for the advice!
LOVE your shirt !!!
Thank you!! Not everyone feels the same way but most people that know what its about agree with it lol.
I like the Beyond, but that floor plan, while open, doesn’t have anywhere to put any toys whatsoever. And sadly none of their floor plans do yet.
Later www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024E6QX0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I found the shirt in poor taste. Very distracting to what could have been a good video.
Totally understand and support your position. Most people that know the story of the person on the shirt support it, especially combat veterans which I am one. Sorry it was distracting for you.
I love your shirt! Thank you for serving our awesome country and her citizens! Retired USAF here. God Bless you and yours!
@@hikerhobby1204 thank you!
Awesome engine specs.
Better than any other van build platform. I absolutely love it!
