I was there and one of the dredge operators and his wife lived with us in our ho u se in Moore Street. We met up with them 4 years later in Florida after we had been transferred to America by Utah Construction. I was on the plane that carried Stuart Bartholomew to the mine as Cyclone Shirley made a mess of the road. My job was to commission the crushing and screening plant. A "mysterious" fire had burnt part of the control room and the crusher had a temporary cable with a green start button and a red stop button -very rudimentary and thats how we started up Mt Goldsworthy Iron Ore Mine. I was also a contributor to the Port Hedland Gazette under the pseudonym of Laurie Ette. Ray Simpson.
