I've been rambling my head so many times these days, I used to be Thriller 100% over Bad, but right now I can't choose, I mean both are serious candidates for being my favourite album of all time. Both are simply pure masterpices, 10/10 albums (I have the same opinion for Off the Wall).
Bad is my FAVORITE but Thriller is sonic the BETTER album, the Bad ERA and the Videos made Bad a better album but Thriller last 6 songs are just UNTOUCHABLE
Hey great video bro. Well for me I didn’t live through either but I was born during the BAD era(b:MARCH 17th of 1987) so i am speaking on what I experienced from both in the 90s and the effects of it all after the 80s. Both albums are legendary and iconic and sonically outstanding in the music department in my personal opinion. Now here we go……. THRILLER will forever be number one because of what it did as an era in itself. No album alone with the short films, performances, Victory tour, attire, hair and awards has did what this did. This was MICHAEL MANIA and he helped especially to bring all colors back to really buying records over and over again. I mean hell in three years between 82-85 it reached a whopping 60 million albums worldwide and in 84 sold so much that it became the worlds biggest selling album. You just can’t ignore all of that. The only thing I wished happened was as good as THE VICTORY TOUR was I really wished he would’ve went on a full THRILLER TOUR in 84-85 can you imagine the outcome that would’ve had on us as fans of his. Wow. Also he co produced the album as well. BAD was great from the start because the album especially his compositions was just great. This is the album where he stretched himself in all ways that he could stretch himself. His voice was an instrument in itself I mean he was doing things with his voice that was never done by him before. We got a taste of that shift in his vocals during the songs WE ARE HERE TO CHANGE THE WORLD and STATE OF SHOCK. The album along which by the way he wrote 9 songs and produced it with Quincy and had so much vision behind this album that it was and still is amazing. Man in the mirror song alone still rocks and brings grown men to tears today. This album became The second biggest selling album of the 1980s and the first album to generate 5 #1 singles ever and the biggest selling album of 1988 and 1989 which he also accomplished with THRILLER in 83-84. This era was also so iconic and the start of so many things where he was yet still inescapable. He became the KING and controversial as well. He just was someone that you couldn’t control anymore and looking back on it he showed his capabilities to the highest regard. His WORLD TOUR broke so many records and showcased what the world already knew that MIKE was the GREATEST ENTERTAINER THE WORLD HAS TRULY EVER SEEN. Now last but not least my pick is both albums if we talking musically with a slight edge to BAD. Now as far as era it’s both still with a slight edge to THRILLER because like i said we had never seen an album, era and artist reach those levels of stardom and have never seen it since.
The thing with Thriller was that it had 3 ICONIC songs with Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller (especially Thriller because of the concept). Bad album had great songs just not as iconic. Maybe Smooth Criminal would be the closest one, but lyrically it wasn't as strong. It would be damn near impossible to capture lighting in a bottle twice. Music was also evolving in the late 80s, and disco/funk wasn't the theme anymore. Everything was shifting towards rock

Michael Jackson Bad is prime mj. Why? Well because he had full control of his music. The only thing i hate is the bleach skin situation. Thriller is amazing too
You should do a bad vs dangerous comparison. I feel like with the mindset of Bad and a different approach dangerous could of outsold thriller if he was purely focusing on the music and outdoing what he did previously. I do think bad is better than thriller. An interesting scenario is what if Bad came out in 85 and Dangerous in 87 or 89.
Thriller was released sometime late ‘82 early ‘83 and Bad was released in ‘87 which was some time apart but I get what you mean because of how big Thriller was it probably wasn’t enough time for him to match up with

@@bricew8448 thriller Really carried over into 85 because Thriller was already huge with Billie Jean and Beat it but when he dropped the Thriller Video in Nov. 84 it took the album to the MOON!!

Hey truque i love Michael Jackson and I think thriller and bad are his biggest names in Albums when it comes to his music especially thriller thriller and bad would be my two favorites of his and another album by Michael Jackson that would really be up there for is the essential Michael Jackson because that's the best way to listen to any of his greatest hits and I think Michael Jackson number ones would be another one of my favorite I've been a Michael Jackson fan for a long time halloween will be next month so I'm sure they will play the heck of thriller this year that album is 42 years old now and bad would be about 37 years old I also know that they reissued thriller and bad many times like thriller special edition thriller remastered thriller 25 and thriller 40 and bad special edition bad remastered bad 25 and I know with in the next few years from now bad will turn 40 years old I can't wait to see how bad 40 will turn out to be I bet it will be a pretty darn good release because it's Michael Jackson material

I do agree with Bad! Bad is not a good song but is definitely one of his most Iconic Music Videos! Sometimes I catch myself watching Bad over Thriller! Thriller is the better album but Bad is my All time personal favorite and in my opinion has the BEST videos he ever made outside of Thriller!

I love the overall bad era but I do agree that thriller had more iconic songs. Also music was definitely changing in the late 80s.

The only thing wrong with BAD was it came right after THRILLER. There is just no way to follow up an album like that.

Take away the thriller video from thriller, is it as good as Bad I don’t think so. Still a brilliant album regardless

Off The Wall is my favorite MJ album but Thriller is better. Bad was too poppish for me.
