Greg explains how he uses this technique to enable short bursts of useful concentration amidst his busy, distracted and multitasking life. Distributed by Tubemogul.
I used this technique when writing a video course. When I didn't use this technique, I wasn't organized or focused, and I made like 3 slides in 30 minutes, I know, I am terribly bad at focusing, right? But then I implemented this technique, and in 40 minutes I made 30-40! Just WOW! This technique forced my brain to focus all it can because it only has 25 minutes! On the other hand, if I am gonna work for hours, it is already tired from the beginning and it doesn't really work hard. The short breaks in between help my brain refill energy. I usually go with 10 minutes because I smoke. Smoking a cigarette takes 7 minutes for me. Then I have some extra time to go to the toilette if needed, or grab a snack and something to drink. :)
I have been using this technique with my daughter with ADHD for year without even knowing that this was an actual technique. It works really well for her and she gets tons done. I use it too now that I know that this is an actual technique I am sharing it with everyone!
Motivational Me Hi I too have an ADHD. In fact, I just stopped the video just to write a comment lol. After working on tons of project I also noticed that having "little breaks" would help me give focus on important tasks. Little did I know that this is an actual technique. I'm currently doing this it really helps me with my condition. Best of luck to you and your daughter.
And an additional twist, used by folks with writer's block: if you don't feel like doing whatever you should be doing, don't -- BUT you are not allowed to do anything else until time's up. Pretty soon you'll get bored to death and get to work.
Thank you iGNiTe... Without knowing anything about such a technique, I had a similar technique of my own. I used to just run a clock that was making ticking sound on my computer (tick-tock), just that ticking sound constantly reminded me of passing time, this reduced me from getting distracted considerably.
@tech99070 I had that problem also in the beginning. First the sound is annoying and distracts you. But afterwards after some pomodoro's it becomes part of the pomodoro and it means you are actually doing quality work. After a while you start to look at it like that and the ticking sound becomes a peaceful positive sound.
You know what. I started using this technique before I even knew about Pomodoro. The only other distraction I have are people coming into my room saying "Wow you gotta see this youtube video, it's just nuts". I have found that pikes through the head eliminate this one.
:) I do this as well (different timing, though, depending on how tired I am feeling at the moment). I use focus booster (windows) and it works great :) Thank you!
This technique is good but only for some work types, for creative people it can disrupt the flow of creativity with so much regular breaks. I think it is ideal to have longer working sessions and longer breaks for example; 60 minutes pomodoro and 15 minutes break. Just image you are in the brink of solving something creatively and the timer rings for a break. The system to prevent distractions become a distraction itself.
I have to say that this is currently the best explanation video for the Pomodoro Technique on TH-cam!
I worked for a man who used this and he was probably one of the most productive people I've ever seen. I'm willing to give it a try.

really inspirational and makes me feels good about time management . thanks
AWESOME I DISCOVERED THIS 3 WEEKS AGO IT JUST CAME TO MY MIND AND NOW I KNOW HOW TO CALL IT ,,POMODORO
I'm on my pomodoro break right now. This really works, take it from the queen of procrastination.
I just started Pomodoro, during my 5 minute brakes I will be watching Pomodoro videos on TH-cam.

As a strong advocate against multitasking, I will give the Pomodoro a shout...Go Italy :)

thanks for sharing "iGNiTe"
Pomodoro is one of my favorite technique. Something about the "ticking sound" makes the task even more urgent.
:)

Thank you!
thank you
I will try this.. nice..
Focus Booster is a good replacement of Pomodoro Desktop. Available for both pc and mac.

@dennisonicc I was watching this video during my first pomodoro break btw.
I will keep ketchup nearby as I try this POMODORO ! Ketchup is my reward.
@tech99070 yes, ticking sucks. Environmental sounds that I can't quite shut out drive me insane. 25 work 5 relax is great!
who prefers ticking?
Is there Pomodoro Desktop for PC ???
Wow I need to stop texting and driving especially after really drinking 4 beers :-O
totally overrated and overreacted bs.
