If you don't see the unblock option, it is most likely OneDrive is your default folder system. In that case, you will need to shut down OneDrive first.

Macros are a big security risk. Macros are a powerful tool that can allow arbitrary system access particularly if you run excel as a root user. This is definitely a worthwhile thing to add severe protections around
Thanks a ton!!! Solved my issue. I was unable to enable macros despite making changes under 'Macro Settings'. But following one small step prior to that, as suggested in this video, helped my cause.
What if the "unblock" option is not available in my "general" tab? I don't have the "security" section down there at the bottom to give me that option. Any thoughts? Thanks!
@@TrentMRobertson don't keep/open file from non local system like one drive, share drive, external hard drive, take it on your own system then check , this setting will be available
I have no security checkbox on the file. I'm downloading the file from Sharepoint using the "Open in Desktop App" setting. I have to use the file in this way because more than one person may use the file at a time. If I save the file locally on my desktop it opens with no macro issues. I can't open it that way though for the prior mentioned reasons.
Thank you! Just in case anyone needs it, came across a gpedit (run as admin) solution for all files: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager Change the Do not preserve zone information in file attachments setting to Enabled. Save and exit.
I dont have the unblock option.. my problem is excel deletes all macros in the file once i open it, so i cant really run them when they are not there... how can i fix please?
Bro Thanks a lot it was very useful. I got stuck and i dont know what to do. After seeing your video I was able to solve the issue.Once again Thank you so much.

Hi, it turns out that my OneDrive is off. But still can't run the macros. Please help. Thank you

@@PattyManatty that's true. But there is no reason to make it so impossible to disable them.
Thank you so much, Jie. I have been trying to call Microsoft for a number of days, and they hopelessly could not help. Great Video.
i experience this issue, but when i go to Properties , I can't see the Security and Unblock, is there any other way to do this ?
While waiting for MS support to call back, I researched youtube and this came up. Followed steps and worked. Thank you!

then you are not enabling it by admin account , you must have logged in by guest or employer account

How can I fix this as my default for my computer as a whole. this is useless if I have to do it for every file
I don't think you can set it to default, at least there is no easy way at this point.
at 1:01 in the window there is a security unblock. Mi excel does not show it. How can I fix this? (have excel 365)

any idea what to do if the security option isn't visible at the bottom of the general tab in excel property settings?

Office has multiple layers of securities to run macros, make sure you have enable every single one of them.
Is there any solution to make it default. I dont want to unlock macros again and again each time i download the new file?
Not that I know of.
