Thank you Eddie! The Edge is a lot of fun to play with. So if you can, I definitely recommend picking one up. Thanks again for stopping by!

@@electronictiger I just bought a Crave. It is definitely beyond my expectations! I think I'll buy an edge soon in the future. Those modular synths, although these are semi-modular ones, have such a infinite possibility for us to discover.

@@Eddie_CYH Yes! Lot's of cool sounds to be discovered, indeed. The Crave is on my want list still. Just like the new Grind. I don't have a need for them. But they seem like such fun!

that is funny, I have also a weird relationship with the rytm.
I think most analog sound engines lack transient and punch compared to other drum machines like MFB.
but I do like the classic hats (the one that are preloaded when starting a new kit). they are not amazing tho but they sound nice if you don't tweak/tune anything (lol).
I also like the lab hats, because I can randomize the parameters (SRC + YES) and it yield interesting sounds
I like the kicks to some extent (I do saturate them a lot however)
But that being said, I hate the snares, I think it's such a pity. the noise sources of 2/3 of the snare engines sound distorted and weirdly filtered, with no high definition, also lack transient and weird design.
I think (but I might be wrong) that most sound in the AR are built with OSC, but on some other machines we have cool and different designs. for example the kick of a 808 is based of a sef oscillating filter, not an OSC.
I do love the UI and P-lock, filters, distortion, sequencer of course.
    Nice jam !

Thanks Louis! I think you're on to something with your suggestion of lack of transients on the Rytm machines. Suppose you can enhance them a bit with the onboard compressor. And record that into the Rytm as a sample. But it would have been nice if you had some more control over it from the get go.
Saturation / drive is definitely a key ingredient to getting the most out of the Rytm. And I do find it a tasty distortion they've got in there.
And yes, the modern Elektron workflow is fantastic! P-lock and the sequencer are second to none. On top of that comes the sturdy build quality. I'd be happy to take it to a gig.
Do you have any other Elektron boxes?

@@electronictiger No I don't have any other Elektron, but my best friend has a digitakt since a log time.
the overdrive is indeed really cool x) Also it is convenient because I make acidcore so I need lot's of distortion.
unfortunately I use separate outputs so only the 3 left toms tracks can use the main distortion/compression. and I often put already distorted (sherman filterbank) samples on these.
I do take the AR to gigs, but only did 2 gigs with it so far. I don't tweak it live with the ABCDEFGH knobs, however I made myself lot's of performance things, and I quicly reassign the quick perf knob to tweak them.
for example performance pad of the hats wiill tweak hat decay, same for the snare pad (tweak snare decay), kick pad tweaks kick decay, hold, saturation or something in that fashion.
it is a great live machine. with a dedicated controler it must be even better ! But I keep this setup small (only have a sequencer and a re303, the AR, a mixer, and a reverb in aux)
      Cheers :)
