    Today, we dive into something new -superimposing Major triad pairs derived from Lydian Mode Harmony over a Major 7th chord.
    The examples on the video are over an F Major 7th chord, and I am using a neat little looper for this. It’s a great practice tool.

    Very useful. I have noticed that these triads were very beautiful one major chords, but it’s so nice to have someone experienced as you putting words, explanations and more examples on it 😇

    Those first 3 triads you were playing at "3:15" to "3:18" reminded me of that scene in the film, "Amadeus", when Mozart plays part of a Antonio Salieri's compositions at a party and practically changes Salieri's ideas in front of everyone there, etc.

    Why aren't there more likes on this? Wow. I know almost nothing about improvisation but I feel like playing this exercise would actually make a huge impact on my playing!

    Thanks for the lesson mang, nice one. I appreciate when the teacher doesn't assume that we're all beginners.

      yeah its a technique that I heard guys like 'Trane use in the late 50's and 60's but bass players started using it more in the last 15 -20 years -Janek and i both took lessons from THE most amazing UK bassist Larence Cottle who hipped me to this concept.

    Someone please tell me what are the notes of F lydian triad? F,A,C or F,B,C?

    • @MrBwukBwuk
      @MrBwukBwuk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Milad Baygan its both f triad and g triad he is explaining here, F(root),A(third),C(fifth). And G(9th),B,(#11),D(6th)

    • @rufusbass
      @rufusbass 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Milad, the chord to use the F and G major triads is an F major 7th : F, A ,C, E are the notes in the F maj 7th... But the F lydian mode is the scale where we derive the pair of F major and G major triads from. Go to the notreble.com article and download the free PDF -it gives you that laid out in notation. (or click the link below the video where ti says download the transcription) Should make it easier to understand, Cheers R

      Thank you i got it. But generally what are the notes of F lydain triad? Some people say F A C and others say F B C!!!

    • @innocentoctave
      @innocentoctave 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Milad, the I chord of any Lydian mode is a major triad. So in F Lydian, it's F A C - just like the I chord in F major.
      If you want a I chord that captures the Lydian sound, you have to add the extensions beyond the fifth that are most characteristic. In practice, this means the major 7th and # 11th. So you have an F major#11 chord: FACEB. You can get most of this sound while omitting the fifth: FAEB. But there's no 'Lydian triad' as such, because a triad contains a root, third and fifth only, and in the Lydian mode these are identical to those of the parent major scale.
      You can, of course, have a Lydian chord progression made up of triads, but what makes it sound Lydian is not the individual triads, but their Lydian functional relation to each other.

      Thank you, very clear and helpful. I thought same as you explained but in one of Rick beato videos i saw he said F lydian triad is 1,#4,5 and i was confused till now. Thank you again.

    can barely hear your vice and what are the other tones and harmonics ?

    • @rufusbass
      @rufusbass 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      go to the no treble page home page, find this lesson, and download the pdf. you'll find everything you need, regardess of how loud my voice is. the notes are written out, and there's a WRITTEN explanation. As for the harmonics, I am playing notes from an F MAJOR 7th ( F, A, C, E ) as a backing track.

    Everything sounds like Jaco...which is beautiful but it is like someone else making your mom's favourite recipe...not the same and is done better by someone else. Sounds negative, sorry, but it is always weird to me to hear Jaco tone users. You are an awesome player though. Congrats on your abilities.

      I disagree with this comment. Playing fast on a vintage like jazz bass doesn’t make you necessary sound like Jaco. Rufus sound and articulation are different and he is not mimicking Jaco « staccato » playing style. It’s sounds more legato, the sound is also warmer.
