Your room is stunning. Love Uglass. Unfortunately The GQ Geiger Counters are not very sensitive. A scintillator would be interesting to see though. Best Geiger Counters for Uglass are pancake types I think because they see alpha particles.
Oh that's cool i have vasaline glass i inherited from my dad recently, it used to be in my grandmothers house she loved it. I need to get a uv light to make it pop like that so cool
Noice!! I've just subbed. I have a 395 uv light arriving tomorrow i'm hoping to check out my local charity shops, which you probably call thrift stores, to see if I can find any. I'm in the Uk and apparently we can get some good gems over here if you look in the right places, especially pre-ww2 vaseline glass type items.
I have a lot of floor lamps in the room that have UV light bulbs in them. I also have a ceiling light in the room that also has UV light bulbs in it. You can buy them on Amazon. They’re not just purple lightbulbs but actual blacklight /UV bulbs. 💡💜
Not much, since it is hard to escape glass. Only thin outer layer contributes to alpha from the surface. Most of the uranium glass samples are mostly beta-emitters. Depends on how clean uranium is used. Like was mentioned, vaseline glass contains noticeable amount of radium and its decay products.
Nope! I’ve had these for a few years now and have never had a problem with them getting too hot. I have them in all of my cabinets and in my kitchen none of fallen off or even burnt out. 💚
I've always been fascinated by radioactivity and I would love to collect uranium glass one day, when I have the space. Subbed!
This is so fascinating! Thanks for showing us your collection. I really like your skeleton at the very end.
Radioactive Art and geiger counters are a lot of fun. 😁👍
Cool vid, very educational. Subbed
Thank you so much! 💚🥰

That’s so sweet that you have some family heirlooms to love in your collection! 💚

I hope you’ve had some good luck hunting!!💚☢️
Ok so I got the same geiger as you and my cabinet shot to 360 then dropped to 320 and pretty much stayed there... is this a actually safe number?
An alpha sensitive Devise wuld be interessting and an Gama spectroscopy :)
How do you light your entire room? What kind of lights do you use above your table?

@@terrestrialtreasuresThey can damage your eyes permanently.
I’m kinda hoping my candle stick holders are vaseline glass and not uranium glass 😅
You should really try getting a geiger counter that detects alpha particles, uranium emits a lot of alpha particles.

i think i would get a more sensitive geiger counter for that room......just sayn'...................
Those UV LED strips inside the cabinets - 405nm violet? Don't they get warm and cause the adhesive on the back to melt and fall off after a while?
