I love these cameras. I bought my first one, a Minox IIIs in 1967 for $50. I was 13 and just getting into photography. I used to take this with me always. I also have a Minox B and several accessories. I used to develop my own film and reload the film cartridges with a film slitter that I made. This video looks like it will help me repair my shutter blade that got stuck on the B model. Thank you!
couple of tips. Don't remove the end screws first, but rather loosen the set screw (don't remove) and unscrew the star headed screw in the film compartment a couple of turns then remove the cocking shell and back plate of the camera and the meter end will come off. Then you can easily get to the two end screws. Also, use a little acetone on a q-tip to remove the paint from the screws so you don't risk damaging anything.
Unfortunately, the newer more capable Minox cameras have much more going on inside which truly makes the job much more complex. Marty Doctor in Manchester, NH Is a great source for new shutter blades and information. Thanks for your nice videos. I appreciate your efforts.
Update: I made a tool to get out the end screws in a much better way, I'll show it when I do a reassembly video. I have some other stuff I'd like to update too. Currently waiting on new shutter blades so I can button it up.
Thank you so much you saved my camera I took it apart, found nothing wrong that i could see. Got sad. Put it backed together. aaaaaadn it worked. weird.
I can't imagine wanting to take an old Minox apart with hopes of fixing it, unless I was at least a watchmaker and had connections to obtain advice and parts.
Hi, Just bought my first Minox B camera shutter release doesn't depress also the settings for light meter/ aperture and film advance don't budge either...what am I looking at? Help! lol
