    A word of warning for anyone looking to buy the same product from the company Charlie quotes in the description. They are ridiculously expensive! I was quoted £600 for just one unit for a standard sized window! You can do far better with local companies or day John Lewis. I suspect this chap got his unit for free for featuring it on his channel but the average customer won’t be so lucky suspect - be warned!!

    Amazing blinds. I've been trying to create black out for my entire house, upstairs anyway but at £600+ for just 3 windows upstairs I can see I am going to have to stick with 247 blinds. So I now have a burning pain just knowing these beauties are that far away. It's wonderful that you explain what you are doing and why because tradesmen like you are few and far between and really, if you want a job doing properly then you have to do it yourself.

      You're welcome. You'd think in this day and age there would be better bespoke tool bags for power tools but there don't seem to be. The suitcase idea came from a hotel project we were working on where we were traipsing down long corridors all day with our tools, so putting them in a wheelie case made sense.

    Excellent mate, really useful. I tried to fit a typical roller blind a while back I find them so difficult to do, it needed cutting down but I made a complete mess of cutting it perfectly straight. If it isn’t that it is usually the fitting which then hampers me, I’ll drill into the wall or recess and meet the hardest substance in the universe and don’t have the correct drill bit on hand. 😩 I did laugh when the camera switched to your tool kit you had brought almost like a comedic i am going to fit this blind here are the tools you need 🤣

I am very surprised that they aren't more common place as from a security view point I think they would be a great addition in the winter months as you could set them up to close at dusk and have smart bulbs turn on so the house looks occupied. Another great video, thanks. ? How do you use the system when the reveals and not level/flush?

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! If you don't have a recess it's a little tricky as the side channels would be more noticeable, and you'd have to screw through the front rather than inside. In terms of the reveal being out of level, you just have to improvise as best you can, to get the cassette at the top level and the side channels square (if the cassette isn't level the blind is likely to telescope).

    Quite expensive for a blackout blind but it’s the best one I have seen so you get what you pay for. Is the 20% discount you offer time limited? I would like to buy one and support the channel but won’t be needing one straight away as we are moving house in the next few months and I would like to purchase one for our bedroom when we move.

      If you measure the width in three places - top, middle and bottom and take the narrowest measurement. Same with the drop but if you got the drop too long you could at least cut the side channels down a bit. When you submit the order tell them you've given them recess measurements.

    Excellent video Charlie! Love your channel. QQ4U though. For those of us (ie me) who have already got a blackout thermal blind to keep the heat of the sun out of our children's bedroom and yet didn't reckon on the heat/light bleed coming through the sides, is there an ingenious diy hack we could do with some c-section channel and some brush tape? I can't for the life of me find channel broad enough so wondered if I'm barking up the wrong tree here to keep the heat out. Cheers.

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could click on the link in the Description and ask the company if they could supply you with a length of the c section - it comes in 40mm and 70mm profiles, complete with the in built brushes. You'd still get light leakage in the top but again, they manufacture aluminium head boxes, with bottom trays. You put the roller in the box and butt the side channels up to the box. The only issue you'll have though is that the roller bottom bar won't be heavy enough to drop under its own weight thought the brushed aside channels, as the bottom bars that come on the blinds are much heavier. So unless you could open the bottom bar and slide in extra weights, you might have a problem.

      @@CharlieDIYte Cheers Charlie. I will give it a try.

    • @SitzmarkAngel
      @SitzmarkAngel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I contacted them and they responded very quickly to my email. Suffice it to say the biggest flaw in the idea for me is that my thermal blackout blind is cellular, and the one from the company and indeed your video is flat fabric. This means the side channels they offer are only 22mm wide and certainly not wide enough to accommodate a cellular blind that has a bottom bar of 28mm wide. Thanks for the help anyway Charlie. The guys at EBS were very helpful. I think the idea is still good, so I'll be finding some white aluminium c section at 40mm-ish wide and some brush tape after all. Your video should help me with the installation too. ;)

      @@alanmacgillivray8137 I never did. I looked everywhere online I could find but the only places I could find the C or U channel I wanted only sold in bulk.
