It depends on the keyword competition. How strong your competitors are and how strong your website is.
I have a question:
How to rank for *dentist in location* keyword in Google?
For example: Dentist in Chicago.
Because, the local business directory sites always ranks at the top.
Any strategy to beat these directories and rank our dentist clients?
It's difficult to outrank directories to be honest. You can typically only beat them by targeting the local pack (instead of organic). Otherwise, you're going to need many backlinks
@@nathangotch sub domains are a key thing here, as in sub-localities. If you have a business in new york, then new-york.myplumbingbiz.com helps to localize the search results and enhances the local experience.
Trying to create a local biz presence, with a primary domain is a tough sell with the search engines these days... ie, like myplumbingbiz.com is a plumbing company with a new website, sitting in new york. Better off localizing geographically up front in the url these days.
Just my honest opinion.

@@RintuBiswasSEO don't worry about that one term "dentist city". Everyone is trying to chew on that. Instead target longer more transactional queries for dentists such as "teeth whitening pricing" or "how much do porcelain veneers cost?" etc in an effort to get position 0.

Summary: 1 to 2 years in a competitive industry. After first year, 800 monthly visitors. After second, 10K monthly visitors.
... but LSI is also important for SEO: Latent Semantic Indexing. Use similar words on your pages pointing the same topic. This will make Google understand what your site is about, giving you better rankings on the main topic.

Nathan, awesome presentation. Although this sounds so scary to realize it takes about 1 - 2 years to rank a new website, it is the reality of the situation. But it is also comforting to also note you can still reduce the amount of time to half if you follow the correct process. So you need guidelines!!!

Hi Nathan! Thank you for this video, very useful and very actual question. Could you please say, what will be your on-page optimization strategy of the Spanish content. Grammarly, Hemingway don't have the Spanish language. And Surfer only searches in Madrid, so I am not sure that the results really relevant to Barcelona (for example). Would really appreciate your opinion!

Great video Nathan, in the example you showed a links to Forbes, what's the case if Forbes removes the link to your site? Then what?
Valid concern and there isn't much you can do except reach out to the tier two placements and ask if they can change the URL to another tier one placement. Losing links is a part of link building. That's why you need to continually add new links. Also, you should factor in link stickability when acquiring tier one placements

30-90 days to get to the first page for local unless the customer gets in the way.
Agreed - local pack is much faster. My timeline was more geared for national markets
My search index seo only shows the text that is written in my cookie pop up, (this website uses cookies etc...) I tried changing the cookie plugin but it didn’t fix it and I have no idea how to fix my seo if it will only show cookie/privacy policy information. I’m not ranking because of this
One thing, I have noticed of your internal linking of your site as you talk about topic clusters in the video.
I went through your site and I didn't find any main primary page and cluster of subtopics that link back to main page.
Which page is your primary page for TH-cam?
I can see the review links you have added in Vidiq vs Tubebuddy but you have not added link back to comparison article from Tubebuddy article.

Hey Sarfraj, the short answer is that the cluster isn't done yet. I've work in reverse with that one (starting with lower competition keywords). I don't have a mother page yet

@@nathangotch I have a new site, And I publish very nice content with I personally build 10 plus good backlink, but I did not getting expected visitor from google, 90 percent visitor comes from yahoo, bing, duckduckgo. what's the problem? I did not find out.
I think it takes around 6-8 months nowadays for brand new websites

So... don’t build links to your own website, but links to a high DA website of a high DA/UR (ahrefs), which links to you? Is this really more effective than just grabbing all those links to your site?
