It was a GREAT ride. Dueling Dragons. You raced the other side AND almost clicked heels at one point. fanTAStic. Too bad it's gone. it was fanTABulous !!!!
Those were magnificent coasters. It’s a shame they weren’t carefully dismantled and sold. I am sure anybody who calls Valleyfair his/her home park would love to have one of them.
valleyfair getting one would have been a dream. we only have 3 inversions throughout the entire park and all of them are on an arrow looper. didn't seem to happen, though
I was confused because I went to Universal studios in December and didn't remember seeing that roller coaster. Until I saw people saying "R.I.P." in the comments section guess they took that ride down...looked like a fun ride tho 😂
I actually liked the idea of incorporating the dueling dragon ride with the Harry Potter theme. I wish it was possible to keep the ride with the addition of Hagrids motorbike coaster in the same world. J K Rowling objected to keeping the dueling dragons but universal fought to keep it until ride had its day and was not withstanding anymore to its lifespan that’s why the name change to dragon challenge then having the coasters no longer dueling at same time which I think was rather silly. They should have just kept it as dueling dragons and running its normal lap course and just redecorate the castle where you wait in line and maybe give the coaster track and two over sized dragons in entrance a mew paint job and face lift to resemble the monsters in Harry Potter or just leave it as is and just paint them grey or whatnot. I don’t see the problem at all, dragons fit the whole wizard theme anyway. Universal should have just expanded the HP world and put the new motorbike coaster but I know cost wise and land was the main concern. Just a shame to lose dueling dragons. Even moving it or selling it so it gains new life somewhere.
It may be gone but at least they ran it until it reached the end of its life. The Hulk needed a refurbishment a couple years before they took this out and without it being able to duel and having a pretty loose theme, I can see why they made their choice. I will have fond memories of the ride and will miss getting to ride 2 great inverts in one park but I'm looking forward to getting to ride Hagrid's and the new Jurassic Park ride. I'm a bigger JP fan anyways so I guess it's a win for me.

I wish Universal would have relocated this ride. Hagrid’s was a worthy replacement, but I’m sure another park would have bought at least one side from them.
It’s a shame they tore this down yet Fast and the Furious still remains. 🙄 I love Hagrid’s but wish they could’ve kept both and would lose some of the less amazing rides...
Kaicey W, I know, they tore it down for safety reasons, but they could have just stopped the dueling feature, which they did, and had for a few years, als jk Rowling does have partial control over the lands and whenever a new attraction is built in hp world she must approve of it, but since dragon challenge/ dueling dragons was made before hp world, and it was loved universal didn’t want to remove it, so they just re themed it, although jk Rowling never got a word in the decision to re theme it, but it was losing popularity since the dueling feature was taken away, and jk Rowling was pushing for it to be removed for something else, hagrids on the other hand she did approve of, and since it’s loved, I doubt it’ll be going anywhere soon, but no she does not own that section of the park
kat s it was called that when it originally opened. They renamed it when they built the surrounding Harry Potter areas and themed it to fit with the Hogsmeade portion of the park. I believe the dragons were fire and ice themed before and then transitioned to the dragons named in the Goblet of Fire books.

That is the Dueling Dragons ride. Not Harry Potter. Dueling Dragons was removed to make the current Harry Potter ride. No shade, just informing.
