During the healing process, does stomach acid collect in the crevices behind the sutures? How are the sutures strong enough to prevent leaks and buildups in the folds?
I wanted to ask some questions: After surgery does the patient have refulx problems ..is it permanent? After surgery does the patient have to take vitamin tablets everyday for the rest of their life? Do you get dehydrated faster as the stomach is much smaller?...because the patient can't drink water at the same level prior to surgery. With the weightloss does the patient loose alot of hair? Thankyou
My question is "Will you still be able to eat in a nirmal way (just smaller portions) and still enjoy food or will you become like people who have had gastric surgeries and can't really eat even normal small portions of food without getting sick and have weird relationships with there little tiny one bites if food?
Your thoughts about ESG as a revision to a VSG performed more then 10 years ago where the patient has regained most of there weight ( BMI 40). Any particular challenges or issues? Is this rare ?
For this procedure would I have to quit smoking? I've tried everything from Chantix to cold turkey, acupuncture to Nicolette. I apparently have the willpower of a gnat when it comes to quitting smoking.
What is the CPT code? I am trying to find out if it is covered under Tricare/military dependent insurance. Post hysterectomy weight gain has been a bitch and nothing has helped long term.
What weight loss medications are available that don’t cause false energy feeling or racing heart? Love your videos! Either informative or light-hearted, I look forward to yours popping up in my TikTok feed.
I had the gastric bypass in ‘08 and since have gained significant weight back but I also was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune issues. I want to try a revision surgery but I’m not sure if it would be worth it with my current medical situation?
Hi sir I'm gastroenterology resident In India. I'm interested in advanced endoscopy bariatric procedures. Can you pls make.a video on. How can Indian Gastro residents can apply for a certificate course or fellowship in bariatric endoscopy in your institute or US? Thanks in advance
Jen Werner great question - not for weight loss purposes but if necessary for a stomach outlet blockage from cancer, for instance, we are able to “bypass” that but placing a stent directly from the stomach to another loop of intestine.
@@AustinChiangMD And I may be facing it myself- I keep stenosising, developing marginal ulcers, followed my surgeon's rules, eat only 1/4-1/3 cup of food- had to revert to soft and broth because pouch won't tolerate meat. And Quality of Life- Pffft!

What happens to the part of the stomach that is sutured off? Does it fuse together? Can food get stuck down the part that has been closed off?
This was exactly my question, are there pockets where food or fluid can get stuck and what happens then 🤷♀️

Can you do gastric bypass endoscopically?
Jen Werner great question - not for weight loss purposes but if necessary for a stomach outlet blockage from cancer, for instance, we are able to “bypass” that but placing a stent directly from the stomach to another loop of intestine.
@@AustinChiangMD The reason I asked is that I am preparing for gastric bypass due to Gastroparesis and GERD that medication does not help with.
Jen Werner ah I see....best of luck with that procedure!
@@AustinChiangMD Thank you very much.
Dear doctor how many layers of stitches you do for endoscopy sleeve?

@@AustinChiangMD Does the stomach still produce gremlin after ESG?
Can you do this procedure if you’ve already had RnY bypass 15 years ago? I’ve gained about 15 pounds back and am really getting worried.
No, but there's another endoscopic procedure to help with weight regain after gastric bypass surgery!
