Actually kinda glad we weren't given a choice there. Because similarly in Re7 when we were given the choice between Mia and Zoe, it sucked. Also it makes sense for Ethan to refuse Heisenberg's offer and it really makes Ethan even more endearing. This man comes in and offers him "help", yet Ethan still refuses because he doesn't want his daughter to get hurt
@@Keyjuann Same, I wouldn't even have been made if it was just a treasure cause if you read the documents they talk about the dagger being made to fight evil then gives you a treasure map. The thing is that instead of finding a dagger you find a frickin glass eye. When you go into the church for the final boss and pick up the dagger you can clearly see a hole between the hilt and blade that was circular so I thought maybe the glass eye went there. I was highly disappointed when the dagger fell in the cutscene and when you backtracked you couldn't even get near the castle.
Giving you a legendary rarity weapon only to be used in a scripted cutscene was also a downer for me. I'd also loved to have a more melee approach, knife or otherwise. We had kicker Leon puncher Chris and the holy legendary man of a man incarnation of the Androgen Hormone JOE BAKER. I wish ethan could have taken some roids to punch some lycans.
I don’t remember the last time a game thats had a section which gave me so much anxiety as the mutated fetus did. Props to the people who created that section
The "Lack of ammunition" one I kind of like. Makes the game more challenging but then you can eventually unlock "Infinite ammo" mode to make it more fun ig. Makes it a fun reward for beating the game.
@@grahamkelly8662CP. Points you earn by accomplishing certain things in the game or in Mercenary mode. A little hint: you can sell off ammo to the Duke for the gun you have infinite ammo to stack up your money.
@@blackrose8418 Right, but Ethan still should have been given the choice to join him or not. It just felt like such a glaring omission. I still love the game, though.
I wish they would have just introduced the hunting/cooking mechanic with Duke when you meet him for the first time. I didn't even realize that the mechanic existed and I sold all my meat after the castle.
My biggest complaint is how rushed the castle was. It was clearly the most intriguing section of the game and they should have definitely stretched it out another hour, giving more character development to Lady D and her daughters. Also the fights with each daughter and killing them felt really unearned.
True. On New Game+, I just rocked the Wolfsbane with infinite ammo. And I found it hilarious how each daughter died with literally 1 shot to the head 😂😭 I speed ran the castle in like a half hour
I low key like when the throw a safe room full of ammo at you, you get all tense and then nothing comes. It keeps you on your toes and it keeps that uncertainty
I just wanted to chime in about point number five at 6:40. You should be able to complete every dish in the game in a single run, I’ve noticed a lot of people usually miss out on one particular fishing spot and don’t finish the last dish. The spot most people miss is right before you meet Chris and his group in the lake area. Before pulling the curtain there is a path to the right that has three fish (and a gem). Hopefully this helps for those wondering how to finish the last fish dish.
The butcher house with one of the big axe guys (Urias Drac) also has a stock of Meat, Poultry and Fish for that very purpose: to help people get regular ingredients that they missed.
There's also a spot after you defeat fish manand get the crank. If you go back to the bridge uou crossed after lady d there's a crank bridge and a boat. There's a secret treasure but if you head another direction you find a small puddle like space with a finest fish and normal fish. Theres a photo you find at some point as a hint
That's honestly something I love about resident evil games it makes replaying the game Worth it cause you get upgrades like infinite ammo or special guns for the next playthrough and I just like things like that makes finishing the game over and over worth it
I love how some 1 star reviews for resident evil 2 complained about ammo being scarce yet that's the lore for resident evil 2 chief irons order ammo to be scattered all over the station to try and confuse the police
The only part that actually scared me was when I came out from hiding under the bed, as the baby monster was chasing me, and one of the sticks on my controller decided to drift and get me stuck on the dresser for a moment as the baby monster was coming back towards me.
I wish the enemies reacted to shots more like RE4. Not only it helped conserve ammo, but it also made well aimed shots feel rewarding. Now, even shooting the head, it seems like the enemies didn't even feel anything.
@@justanimage5012 I don't think it is unfinished, I think it was a deliberate choice by the developers. I would guess to avoid the RE4 situation in which good players save too much ammo with doing that and finished the game with tons, and also to make the enemies more scary, since you would do your best to keep your distance, while in RE4 getting close of them was the best strategy but made them less scary.
Good game play mechanic point, but plot wise it's because they're different creatures. Think of it this way. RE8 villager monsters would tear RE4 villager monsters to pieces
I'll tell you whats more frustrating, if you forget to pick something up from that house, too bad cuz YOU NEVER GET TO ENTER IT AGAIN and if you're going for 100% its just this big red house on the map reminding you of your failure
I couldn’t figure out how to get back into luizas house after the fire, missing some items in there and can’t figure out how to get back in. Unless you can’t and I’m just missing something lmao
More Lady D, her daughters and that amazing palace. The ability to return to the palace and see it filled with ghouls would be amazing. Nit picking, I love this game and the RE franchise.
I’m on my 4th play through and the giant mutant baby still makes me uncomfortable, especially being a dad, my baby makes those noises and I look at him like 🤨
I only hate 4 things: -You can’t quick sell items -You can’t save default loadouts on Mercenaries mode -Getting SS/SSS on Mercenaries mode -The factory (the factory is such a maze)
The factory part which you feel is like a puzzle- is a staple of resident evil franchise itself. It's the only part of resi8 that requires any kind of brain activity, it's probably the best part
I like that you need to check your treasures to see if yoy should sell or combine instead of just selling it all at once. But if it wasnt for that then yeah quick sell would be nice.
Tho i’d rather play the beginning 100 times rather than the baby fetus part. It was great at the first time, but after couple playthroughs, it gets boring
I'm one of those people that would love to go back and explore the boss areas after beating the boss. It would've been cool if other areas opened and while your treasure hunting you still have ghouls to deal with so it's not too boring.
Low key really wanted to keep the knife you stab the Lady with. It’s a cool replacement for the standard knife and way better then the knife you can unlock after beating the game. Wanted to fish it out of a river after it falls off the cliff
They could do dlc for each house leader, and how they got to where they are. Like how final fantasy 15 gave each of the main characters & the villain backstory dlc.
That would be cool but idk about it. The only dlc that I thought of would be something like of RE4. It would show what Chris was up to while Ethan was fighting the 4 lords. Much like Ada was doing while Leon was roaming around the village and castle.
The main thing I hated was items not showing up on the map when you walk by them. I probably spent way too much time treasure hunting and trying to find every single last item.
@@williamjackson8782 funny thing I couldn't get that treasure, my game locked me out of it. 9:18 House Beneviento is quite possible the finest masterpiece of horror that has ever been made in the history of horror. After how long Castle Dimitrescu was and I saw how short House Beneviento was the one saving grace was that it's a true masterpiece of horror and it completely destroyed Dimitrescu in this respect.
Something I noticed was it was way too dark in some areas, even with the brightness turned up. Plus, Ethan would sometimes turn his torch on, but not always...like he forgot he had it..Cmon, Ethan wake up! Its pitch black!
Glad it wasn't just me with the darkness. I think when i got to House Beneviento i finally turned the brightness up some bc it was starting to get annoying everything being that dark.
they probably played it on ps5, where the elevator loading screens take much less time. I'm on the old model ps4, so I feel your pain with the 3 minutes of nothing.
@@letsjustlaugh1592 to be fair, I went out to the shops, did my groceries, came back, went to the toilet, put the kettle on, made a coffee, sat back down and watched for 1 more minute before the beneviento elevator finished :)
Besides looking different in every single way outside of it has no skin. Then again most all babies look the same even the chicken fetus in the sink looking just like the 10 foot long twisted body gaping mouth baby here. Y’all are too stupid to compare monsters.
Fun tip for some players who might not know about the lack of ammo is that upgrading a weapons ammo capacity completely fills it, totally didn't abuse that in village of shadows.
I had the same exact problem with the big fish meal that gives you faster movement. I was one normal fish off and wasn't able to get it. The problem is that there are so many areas in this game that once you complete them you cant go back to ever, and all the remaining fish are in Moreaus section. That and the whole castle that's locked off for no apparent reason just drove me absolutely crazy.
One complaint I got with the game: Long-ass attack animations when enemies get a hit or grab on you. The theatrics lose their steam when it just constantly slows the game down, and if we don't block them we have no way of getting out of the animation. I feel that was the intention, but still wouldn't give that a pass.
In your defense, it COULD sound like that. Reminds me of when Jake did the before you buy on Mortal Kombat 11 and I wrote in the comments about how he has some pros and some Khans. 😎
The lycan dodges actually looked like the horrendous Skyrim dodges. Where enemies would almost teleport to the side to dodge an incoming arrow, sometimes one they can't even see. And in that game you have literal hundreds of arrows and don't need to worry about running out. Edit: Oh and the whole fish thing? That's because there's a missable fishing spot, which is only accessible for like 1 minute, unless you already know about it, because when you walk past it a cutscene starts and it's gone forever.
I loved the doll house section. It didn’t scare me at all but I loved the weirdness of it. You quickly figure out the baby is slow so it’s easily to get away from
Dimitrescu was designed to have the silhouette of a female tyrant just like Nemesis or Mr X so it's sort of disappointing that she didn't get a third super crazy form where she like expanded to the mass of the whole castle or something.
I am really hoping there is additional DLC or a spin off for Lady Dimitrescu. It would be cool to see her entire story from start to finish. Call it "The Lady in waiting." Or something.
There's no way Capcom won't bring Lady D back somehow, either in backstory DLC or a full-on resurrection. She's the breakout character in this installment.
That baby, you know, THAT baby and Fallout 3, and Todd Howard's baby, and their noises. Things won't ever be the same. Video game babies are true nightmare fuel.
Someone actually calculated her weight to be about 500lbs then they demonstrated how easy it was to crush a coconut slowly applying that much force to it.
While I loved how each of the lords areas are COMPLETELY different from each other very RE4 style, but I really hated how short they were I mean I wasn't interested in lady d honestly, she's a neat character, but I was more curious about the othe 3, Benivento in particular was probably the shortest area, granted as you said many found it to be terrifying. But it left so much to be desired, Donna and Angie were kinda just thrown in at the last second to me. Which sucked because again they were the most interesting of the 4 lords.
Moreau's reservoir was also a missed opportunity. Would've been awesome to explore the area, perhaps meet villagers who have been turned into more aquatic monsters. Duke said that Moreau isn't the only thing lurking in those waters, but apart from a couple of catfish, he really was. In the castle each of the sisters should've had their own area to be honest. Each of them were done in so fast and in almost identical way, so much so that I'd hesitate to call them separate characters.
Exactly. That and their bosses kind of acted dumb. Like the three sisters went into rooms that had access to the outside. Logically you wouldn’t go into a room where your weakness can be exploited.
Honestly the most annoying complaint I hear is not enough Lady D.....which anyone who watched the trailer should have figured okay 4 lords which means 4 bosses which means 1/4 of the game each....smh
@@memezrus6793 I mean she kind of already lasted longer than the others since her section lasted the length of two of the lords (beneviento and Moreau)
They probably blew their money on the castle and Lady D. Look at the details of the castle compared to doll house. Also the time spent on each location.
You know the part where you run back to the 'operating' room and the painting falls on the right side. Made me jump and put my fingernails in the seeling lol.
The Beneviento house was honestly my favorite part. I enjoyed the genuine fear that the atmosphere gave. Where with the rest of the game you were trapped but not helpless. In the house it was nothing but your wits to get you out. I'd like to see more of that going forward cause it honestly felt really run and gun at least on the Standard and Hard difficulties and the sudden "Oh no, I have no defenses." feeling that sets in was amazing.
They's ve put so much effort on all the details in the locations. Like you said castle and many more location assets should be used in fture DLC content imho as well.
I think there was only one thing I hated in Village and that was not being able to spare a character or something, for instance; Lady D's daughter that ambushes you in the library, I know she's just a bunch of bugs in a human form created to clutch at your heart strings but her "I don't want to die." really kinda hurt my heart in a way, made me think if I had done the right thing or not. Granted it was only with that daughter and maybe Donna and Moreau too; the fact that they were just being used by Miranda to find a way to back Eva - it makes me feel sorry for them. Didn't really feel sorry Lady D or Heisenberg as much like Lucas they kinda used their power to feel invisible - sorry I'm rambling here I just wish we could've been able to spare a foe or two.
As someone who came into the franchise at 7 I found mercenaries to be my favorite part about 8 idk something about going nuts with a pistol is awesome especially if you sell everything in your inventory other than handgun ammo and your trusty handgun you have quite a lot of cash to upgrade it.
RE8 has to be the most fun I’ve had with an RE game. RE7 is my second favorite. I like how on easy or normal I can just run around with the Albert and one shot everything
I feel your pain. Ever play "Far Cry 3"? I collected *all* of the stupid little collectibles except *one*. That one? I missed it when playing through an early mission where I was searching for mushrooms in a cave. I discovered after that the cave gets sealed off upon completion of that mission so it was impossible for me to go back in for it.
Re village director did say after hearing about the love for the big lady he may have her return in RE9 . Don’t know how but he his listening to the fan base .
My biggest complaint are finding all the goat statues. I played it twice and didn't unlock the trophy. Would have been nice to track how many I have left or what areas had how many remaining goats to find
Yeah more puzzles!!!! :) And BRING LADY D AND HER DAUGHTERS BACK!!! Maybe Heisenberg too (a sibling rivalry that your caught in the middle of)....maybe in a game or two it would be soo soo exciting to get to see them again!

just as note: we say borscht to imagine the food, but the recipe the Duke had is not borsht. Is the normal soup like mix. But i agree, its hard to say this cuisine in other languages.
Btw, the RE4 box puzzle is extremely easy, you push the middle part into the middle and cycle all the pieces around once and it solves itself. I found this out as a little kind and it made new play throughs so painless
Damn! That final clip in your video just made me remember how sad I was when that dagger fell off the cliffside. Wouldn’t it have been cool if you swapped it out with your combat knife? There should’ve been a section where you could find it washed up on a piece of land (when you’re exploring on the boat).
Mercenaries was cool as it is, like a cool combination of Raid mode and Mercenaries. I do wish there were more characters (or co-op) for 7, what do you mean propeller head was unexpected? Heisenberg literally tells you its waiting for you
I was kinda hoping that mercenaries would use Hound Wolf squad with different load outs as it sounded like they were going to get some more fleshing out.
Village of Shadows Difficulty was a pleasant Nightmare, especially when you play as Chris Redfield! Heisenberg was irritating but the Chris Section was worse IMO.
I was so upset when I found out I left a treasure behind in the castle and found out I couldn't go back...so...so sad. Also I'm one of those people that LOVED the whole big baby section, I'm a sucker for spooky stuff.
I love that the majority of people complaining or complaining that resident evil is a resident evil game. 6 through 10 are all key aspects of resident evil and the tropes that make it suck which is why people love them. More puzzles and more intense puzzles with consequences would have been dope, the one place you almost lost me at was being able to backtrack entirely. With the game being so sandboxed and linear there's not many times where you have consequences for your actions, not being able to backtrack all the time is the closest thing to that. It's almost like not being able to backtrack as adding to replayability, which is something that resident evil is also super based on.
The one thing I absolutely hate is the fact that Ethan's shirt and jacket sleeves also heal and reattached themselves after his hand was severed, I can accept werewolves, zombies, magic, (I specially accept a sexy milf giant vampire) but that one fact really bugs me
Also, when rose is reborn before the Miranda fight the mold forms a blanket around her too. And rose is wearing Ethan's jacket as well which leads me to believe Ethan isn't truly gone.
My biggest annoyance: the Samurai Edge from the Trauma Pack is WEAK! My 2nd biggest annoyance: you can’t remove the weapon charms to put them on different guns.
The doll house to me def was the creepiest part, I was actually more upset we didn't get more out of that entire part of the game... I mean the puzzle etc was good but we didn't get the satisfaction of fighting the lord or anything, just stab a couple dolls and its over , then the only boss fight is hidden and if you go to Monroes section you cant go back to fight or get the labyrinth.
I loved that level. But I felt so rushed through it because I was petrified the whole way through. I genuinely thought it was where I was going to have a heart attack. The fetus chase was horrifying, I was just screaming that is not a nice baby. My husband thought I was losing my mind. 😂😂.
@@laurendowdell8229 😂 that is hilarious, and it was for sure that way for me as well lol I was really just looking at it like it was so creepy and horrifying where the majority of the game had bits of those elements but it felt like this was the place they could’ve given a good challenge of fighting a boss or enemies in this claustrophobic area and it would’ve been the best area of the game hands down, then finding out that I accidentally skipped past the boss fight outside the house because it’s locked behind a specific progression wall felt like I was robbed twice bc I didn’t just automatically know where to go the first time playing. But OMG THAT BABY!! 😂 😂
I hated the fact that the pick up action is all over the place. I couldn’t pick up something right in front of me but could pick up something on a roof when I’m on the ground.
The biggest thing i hated was the constant grapple spam of the lycans. Unlike the molded you could literally go without ever guarding. Those things don't stop spamming it if they get in melee
I completely agree. Furthermore why do we cover in fear to reduce damage why can't we just punch, kick or melee, sure it is unwise and risky but let us take the initiative for a second. Also also why can't we grapple them back ? I'd love to have the takedown mechanic RE 4 had, we happen to be also physicaly disadvantaged all the time.

He probably didn’t think of a counter argument. Besides Rose still weakened Miranda after she was resurrected. So in a way she still fought.
I’m surprised that wasn’t on this list since literally everyone in the fandom wished they could side with him
Actually kinda glad we weren't given a choice there.
I hate how you couldn't keep the knife that you used to stab lady Dimitrescu
Fucking same that made me so mad i even came back to check the well to see if it fell down there.
You cant trash the knife you start with either.
I know right? Why wasn’t that a permanent weapon in your inventory?
Lady D can have a seat. If anyone got robbed of screen time it was Donna Beneviento. We saw her for literally two seconds before she disintegrated.

Also the fights with each daughter and killing them felt really unearned.
True. On New Game+, I just rocked the Wolfsbane with infinite ammo. And I found it hilarious how each daughter died with literally 1 shot to the head 😂😭 I speed ran the castle in like a half hour

I wish the enemies reacted to shots more like RE4. Not only it helped conserve ammo, but it also made well aimed shots feel rewarding. Now, even shooting the head, it seems like the enemies didn't even feel anything.
Thats because you bought an unfinished product.
Am not judging you, you know this is true
@@justanimage5012 I don't think it is unfinished, I think it was a deliberate choice by the developers. I would guess to avoid the RE4 situation in which good players save too much ammo with doing that and finished the game with tons, and also to make the enemies more scary, since you would do your best to keep your distance, while in RE4 getting close of them was the best strategy but made them less scary.
Good game play mechanic point, but plot wise it's because they're different creatures. Think of it this way. RE8 villager monsters would tear RE4 villager monsters to pieces
I hate when you get pulled through the floor at the beginning and you go back into the house to retrieve the bolt cutters and the floor is fixed!
How did i never notice that
I'll tell you whats more frustrating, if you forget to pick something up from that house, too bad cuz YOU NEVER GET TO ENTER IT AGAIN and if you're going for 100% its just this big red house on the map reminding you of your failure

I only hate 4 things:
-You can’t quick sell items
-You can’t save default loadouts on Mercenaries mode
-Getting SS/SSS on Mercenaries mode

After beating the game 5 times on every difficulty, my least favorite is how slow the beginning is I wish you could just skip it.

Fun tip for some players who might not know about the lack of ammo is that upgrading a weapons ammo capacity completely fills it, totally didn't abuse that in village of shadows.
Oh I SURE did took advantage of that lol. My OCD kicked in!

I love the lycans, especially when their heads blow and they stagger backwards moving their arms, that's kinda cute
A short duration when we fight 3 daughters of Dimitrescu. That was really unsatisfied me

We neeeed DLC for this game

Every time you said “Heisenberg’s factory” I got visions of Walter and Jesse cooking blue meth.
The one thing I absolutely hate is the fact that Ethan's shirt and jacket sleeves also heal and reattached themselves after his hand was severed, I can accept werewolves, zombies, magic, (I specially accept a sexy milf giant vampire) but that one fact really bugs me
exactly that.
It's the mold.
@@lennon1488 his clothes aren't mold
@@AdanRayner in the cutscene with eveline, it shows not just ethans body darkening because of the mold but his clothes to
Also, when rose is reborn before the Miranda fight the mold forms a blanket around her too. And rose is wearing Ethan's jacket as well which leads me to believe Ethan isn't truly gone.
there's no ammo? I had 140 handgun bullets,15 shotgun shells and 40 sniper bullets before the factory section on normal
Yeah, ammo is very easy to come by in this game. I don't think I was ever close to running out
Magnum Ammo has always been a rare drop or considered a treasure cuz of how powerful it is.
and that's why I sold all my guns, upgraded the stake magnum, and put infinite ammo on it
Everyone is complaing about the ammo being low no one praising how high its damage is. This people do not deserve to have the Magnum.
I'd love to have the takedown mechanic RE 4 had, we happen to be also physicaly disadvantaged all the time.
agreed, with they would just hit you instead of having to endure the animation every frickin time
Imagine having to use all the game mechanics in order to play effectively
Definitely started hardcore mode and the first enemy ate 18 of my 20 bullets at the start 😅
Just use one with infinte ammo
@@BigMobe That's what I did. Surely you make enough BP (whatever it's called) to get infinite ammo for the second run. I got the Dragoon and infinite ammo for itm
@@pawfector9463 I went for the infinite STAKE magnum which made short work of bosses and heavy creatures even on max difficulty.
This list just makes me want to play the game even more!!!
I still love that an entire meme subgenre came out of Outside Xbox's Jane Douglas reacting to Lady D by saying "Oh my god, step on me" as an off-the-cuff line that built into something bigger.
Saving the wolf’s bane for last boss felt soooo good.
Especially if you upgrade it to the max!
I wish I saved the ammo. I ended up having to use my sniper rifle for the fight... Twas difficult.
