He fell on his knees and painfully screamed onto the air, he killed the one he was supposed to be protecting, he enlisted in the army to save his poor child and now he was the only responsible for his death. This might sound like a movie or a sci-fi book, but is a true story an old friends of mine told me, it's sad, but even until now he has nightmares seeing his son with half of the skull open... The only thing he wants is not the republicans to die, not to win that war, not to be praised with medals, he wants his child back. That's the saddest part of civil wars, u don't know who is who...

I just finished reading "Renegades" it's about Canadians who faught in the international brigade. It did a great job on showing how divided the republican forces were compared to the fascists. The republicans didn't lose because of lack of bravery, but a combination of paranoia, in fighting, and terrible generalship.
I'm not sure about the "terrible generalship", the Republicans had fine generals like Generals Miaja and Rojo too, but the political divisions were damaging. The massive support Hitler and Mussolini gave Franco was also vital of course.

Which worked for Russia for many reasons, but would not work in Spain. The best quote that describes the Republican forces is "bravery is never lacking, but when it comes to tactics. Actually the Republican talks a lot of Orwell's, and they hate him so much.
This is because 1# He hate working people. 2# He doesn't actually fight with them. 3# he was making list of Irish Republican for arrest and assassination and submit them to the British monarchy under the title of "Enemy of the British Empire".
Not to mentions just how absurdly Racist he is. Like HP Lovecraft have mental problems, but Orwell's doesn't, and he is even more Racist than Lovecraft.

I just finished reading "Renegades" it's about Canadians who faught in the international brigade. It did a great job on showing how divided the republican forces were compared to the fascists. The republicans didn't lose because of lack of bravery, but a combination of paranoia, in fighting, and terrible generalship.
I'm not sure about the "terrible generalship", the Republicans had fine generals like Generals Miaja and Rojo too, but the political divisions were damaging. The massive support Hitler and Mussolini gave Franco was also vital of course.
@@zavi13 the Republican forces seemed to suffer from the same human wave statics that the Russians would use against the Germans. Which worked for Russia for many reasons, but would not work in Spain. The best quote that describes the Republican forces is "bravery is never lacking, but when it comes to tactics. We are surely lacking."
Plus, Franco's forces were way more experienced and were use to working with each other.

The Russians really didn’t use human wave tactics nearly to the extent that is portrayed in popular media. For the Republicans they were at a pretty substantial disadvantage in equipment and political unity.
@@dantecaputo2629 I'm know that the media has overblown the human wave tactics, but they did happen. Mostly due to bad generalship and bad coordination.
The saying that keeps popping up in the Spanish civil war. That sums it up nicely is "There's no lacking when it comes to bravery. What we need is tactics."
They also trusted that Stalin would help them. Never a good idea to trust Stalin.

Many people from many countries joined the germans not to be nazi's but to fight the communist threat to Europe and the world. Just because the commies were on the winning side doesn't mean they were right or our friends.
