This is exactly why I don't use instagram anymore: people creating meaningless content for the sake of creating, only to follow a certain pattern to please an algorithm. There's nothing interesting on this platform anymore, moving on and I think everybody should to!
Until there’s an other similar platform, people won’t leave.. (at least not many). I’m personally dreaming of the day this will happen: a new platform with no shitty algorithm and less people so it’s not just about « competition »

Even though the algorithm has changed a lot since this post you offer some really good advice that is still relevant in october 2022. Quick question! I'm trying to build a following for my photography insta but I was wondering does the whole ' don't put a link in your bio before 1000 followers or insta will f**k your algorithm up big time ' still apply for 2021?? I just ask because I want to build a website to sell prints and link it to my insta for obvious reasons but I'm to scared to do it at the moment 😅
In 2017-2020 I had multiple accounts that couldn't pass more then 500. Around February 2021, I figured out the new algorithm and used my own strategy to get 1k. It took me 4 weeks. I started another one and used the algorithm to the max and got my first 1k in 2 weeks.

After a year I am only sitting on 1K plus followers and I am going to try this now.
I live in South Africa and follow a lady with a similar page who lives in the UK...
We started our accounts at the same time.
She has 10K followers already.
Do you think that it has something to do with location or is it just something I am doing wrong? I like sincere interactions as I know people can spot BS from a mile away, but her interactions is also sincere...any advice?
