Here in Alabama everyone was broke 100 years ago so if they lost a penny, they called in for backup to locate it.

Nice video. Not all hunts are succesful. This video shows the reality of metal detecting. It's the joy of being out there and the unknown of what can be found.

DrTones24k not to get too political, but you couldn't afford to be liberal back then. You were forced to be a conservative. If you didn't hunt, and you didn't grow, you didn't eat. There was no one else to blame, you had to be completely self-sufficient. You couldn't afford to be a silly little whiner. You had to go out and you had to make things happen, you had to build things, and you had to produce. Or you died. You had to defend yourself, you had to be your own judge jury and executioner. You had to train your children to do the same. Gender identity? If you were a man, you had to be a man. If you were a woman, you had to be a woman. And no matter what you were you had to be good at it, or you died.

in the idea that you relied on the government for anything was completely ludicrous. Back then, the only thing the government did was collect tariffs and maintain a national Army. Which is all the government should do. Everything else should be the responsibility of the states

I need to tell you something DR. T,Your vids are the best I have ever watched on youtube, in any category or topic. They are very clear, extremely entertaining, and quite instructional. The effects, the music, the drone footage- all spectacular! My wife rolls her eyes every time I try to get her to watch a youtube video, doesn't matter what topic is covered: astronomy, camping trailers, ham radio, detecting, -whatever, but she LOVES watching your vids with me because of the great production quality!!!!!!!! Very entertaining to say the least!!Thanks a bazzilion, and please keep up the great work!

I've been suggesting to the "forest" detectors that this is the time to get a drone in the air to find rock walls, cellar holes, etc.. The trees are leafless and surface features are much easier to discern. Spring hits and vision is down to 20m or less.

DrTones24k thing is, I recently worked out a treasure hunt from a national TV show, I know where 10 2017 gold sovereigns are buried, it's about an hour from my house, but I don't know how to find out who owns the land or how to go about it. It's all a bit new to me.

DrTones24k you might think you are just making youtube videos but you have changed my life. I had no hobby and one could say I was suffering depression until I found your channel. Now I metal detect and fly drones, I just want to say thank you for what you do man

Cool adventure! But where did the people get those logs for their homesteads? I didn't see that many big trees. Also, why would people want to live in the middle of no where?

We often wonder the same thing. It would have been a days haul by wagon to get them there
