Stephanie, I'm letting you know again about someone. Every time I post on your comments, they send me a message oh look I have something for you. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
To clear up some confusion: The grammatically correct way to describe her ethnicity and citizenship is "Chinese Malaysian". It is the same as "Chinese American", "Hispanic American", etc. However, in Malaysia, it is said in the opposite way ("Malaysian Chinese"), with nationality coming before ethnicity.
Cool. So if we're speaking in English in Malaysia we should say "Malaysian Chinese"?
@@lamoskgr if you are speaking or writing in formal contexts, the correct way is still "Chinese Malaysian". However, in casual conversations, people often say "Malaysian Chinese" instead.
Oh great
@@unknownunknown2575never had i ever use Malaysian then race. Weird.
@@sarah3412 if you are in Malaysia, you can talk to Chinese uncles and aunties at kopitiam. They will tell you that they are "Malaysian Chinese" instead of "Chinese Malaysian". I'm not sure about you but all my Chinese (ethnicity) friends also refer to themselves as "Malaysian Chinese".
Just to clarify, attempted suicide is no longer considered a crime in Malaysia but at the time of when this story took place, it was unfortunately.
Thanks for the update on that one, I’m glad to hear it’s not the case anymore. I’m assuming that the idea was the threat of jail would discourage people from attempting but holy shit what an awful idea. I can’t imagine a worse place for someone who had just survived a suicide attempt to be 😬
Thank God
@@TAKAT0NICyeah but like
This law also prevents attempts too. Malaysia is quite a religious country so, its not shocking that that law was real
That is why malaysia doesnt have much attempted suicide case
Good, made me wanna boycott an entire country
@@TAKAT0NICI would think it’s to force medical care so people can be charged with attempted suicide and their sentence would be treated in some ward or something
Gambling ruins lives. I know somebody who worked in a casino. He said if you have enemies, just teach them how to gamble.
Idk I laughed so much reading this
My first gambling experience was such a vivid illustration of this. My friend convinced me to go to a casino once, it was a weekday at about 11am and there were only a couple people around. The first game I tried was roulette. A haggard, sweaty 30-something man was at the wheel before us, lost, flew into a rage, and smashed a full glass of vodka on the floor. He was sobbing and shaking and then he was ready to go again. I was scared but more than that I was depressed.
My friend gave me money to play (I already didn't want to gamble and now there's this poor man having a total breakdown) and I won $35. I said I was done but my friend said I had to keep playing and got really upset, I was like "did you not just see that???" I never wanted to gamble at all and I witnessed the exact reason. I just played slots until the money was gone so I could leave.
He was also really proud of all the comps he had because his parents had lost $20k there. That just boggles my mind. I don't understand why people play games they are clearly meant to lose, but it's a dangerous mentality.
This was a ramble but just remembering that makes me sad and angry. I don't even know how anyone can work at a casino. When the guy smashed the glass the waitress just came over and gave him a new one before even cleaning up the broken glass and she didn't even bat an eye. She looked bored and annoyed. I can't imagine seeing that every day to the point where I don't feel anything for a human being whose life is ruined by the business you work for!
As a Malaysian, I didn't know this happened😂. So, it's great hearing it for the first time from Steph.
sameee 🤣
All the news about this were all in Mandarin 😂😂
omg! same!

As a Malaysian I have never heard this case but omg .. this is interesting… love how she covers stories from different part of the world
lol this all over Malaysia social media platform as a meme. but mainly in Chinese community
Yeah im malay but have never heard of this case. I think mainly it was because of the language barrier lol
Although I am half malay, and half Chinese, I also haven’t seen this even though I am in Malaysia visiting family
Malaysian too and never heard of this case before too 😂 so happy this case got covered and I can kepo cases I dunno why I need to know 😂
I love it too. Its so great to hear cases from all over the world and not just the US and UK. I love it. Much more interesting to hear stuff from all over the world. I love how she has researchers from the country where the crime occurred too. So good.
What's more disgusting is that she blamed and threatened the hands that helped her. Even if she was addicted to gambling- she had no empathy whatsoever. And her addiction cannot be an excuse to what she said and did.
Her: "We can't leave a SINGLE trace!"
LATER:
*Her text messages(''THE TRACE") gets released to the WHOLE world*

Actually Malays aren’t the indigenous people to Malaysia. The indigenous people in Malaysia are called ‘ Orang Asli’.
I’m malaysian and literally withness this scandal unfold,it was so messing! The other youtubers came out and spilled tea, some youtubers were taking siding. It was the messiest youtubers scandal.
I never expected Stephanie to talk about this scandal.😆
really?! never heard about this. i’m malaysian
Can I ask you what language Malaysians from different ethnics group use to talk to each other?
@@ridinwithjakemalay and english but some ‘chinese’ and ‘indian’ words have long been integrated as common colloquial words. i put it in quotes since these slang words might come from various chinese and indian languages like hokkien, tamil, hindi, mandarin etc
Yang Bao Bei is now famous worldwide hahaha
@@ridinwithjake if both parties are the same race, usually the mother tongue like between chinese and chinese it would be the chinese language, between indian and indian it would be Tamil language, between malay and malay it would be malay of course, as well as others like Kadazan-Dusun, Iban, Dayak, Bidayuh, etc. But if among a group of different races together the Malay language is usually used, plus a bit of English mixed in.
I used to read the YA books she wrote and kinda looked up to her as a teen before she started her TH-cam career. She really spiraled throughout the years and it’s kinda sad that it has gotten this bad, since she could’ve done so much with her career and just earned so much if she hadn’t taken this route.
As usual, great job Stephanie!!!
fr
it's scary how greed and addiction can change someone into somebody else
I still think that she start hanging out with the wrong crowd. The way they were encouraging her gave that idea. I wouldn't ve surprised if those "friends" were the one who introduced her to gambling and were leeching off of her money 🤷🏻♀️
As a longtime subscriber from Malaysia, I was cackling when I saw the title of today’s video because I didn’t saw this coming at all. Nonetheless, thank you for putting in so much effort to research about this case and the nuances surrounding it 💓 Side note, did you know that after this case, YBB accused Jin of SH? Yea..this case was WILD.
Yea the SH harassment case was wild as well, wish Stephanie covered that part too cause since then JIN was accused as a perv up until now
YBB really was wildin istg
IM SO HAPPY THERES A LOT OF MALAYSIANS IN HERE IM ALSO MALAYSIAN AND I LISTEN TO YOU FOR LIKE 2-3 YEARS AND MY ENGLISH IMPROVED BECAUSE OF U STEPHANIEEEEE. I LOVE U. (i never knew this case exists)
Im malaysian as well and have never heard about this 😂
Malaysian too,40 years old malay women 😆😆 have no idea about this YBB scandal at home🤣🤣
as a malaysian, when my friend first told me about this case I DIDNT BELIEVE HER BECAUSE IT SOUNDED SO CRAZY
It's not just gambling...I feel like it's more addiction in general. Drug addicts exhibit the same behavior. You'd be amazed at how resourceful addicts can be.
Omg as a Malaysian, I am so surprised that you are covering this story!! It was a wild one for us too haha love you Stephanie ❤❤
I think you're one of the only people who actually mentioned the fact of Malaysia being ethnically diverse with 3 main races, so as a Malaysian, thank you lmao.
Also lala isn't technically a bad word, essentially its the chinese malaysian version of an uwu girl 😂
😂😂😂 aaaaand it's unisex so both guys and girls get their share to use this title
What's scary about a gambling addiction, is winning isn't even the addiction. Some people have to lose everything they came with and all of their winnings before their addiction is "satisfied". Losing can be the addiction.
"I'm not mad at you" what a narcissist!!!!
I'm half Malaysian-Chinese, half Filipino. I love how you are also covering Malaysian cases!

Her addiction is no joke, blacklisting herself from the casino is like a drug addict telling all drug dealers that they are now the DEA.
I love midnight mango. The atmosphere of this whole video is very cozy. I'm here in my oversized shirt and drinking a hot drink while listening to Stephanie spilling the tea about these influencers. It's like we're in a slumber party XD.. can't wait to see Dandan comfortably sitting on the couch with Stephanie in the future

Here in the US we do view addiction as an illness. It absolutely is heartwrenching to witness a whole person get shredded to pieces from this illness but i hope Malaysia has the resources to help her overcome this because it is possible but extremely difficult.
I remembered all these unraveled during covid lockdown. We had all the time in the world to digest the information. Many memes were made. It was so unhinged 😂😂
Celebrity gossip is Stephanie's niche👏🏻 ain't no one does it the way you do!!!!! Love you SOOOOOO much steph ❤
As Malaysian Malay, I haven’t even heard of this case, this feel so unreal that Stephanie is covering a Malaysian story. 😊 btw the current government is working on decriminalisation of suic*** and hopefully they figure something out soon cause the law is pretty messed up😢

You're so strong! I'm proud of you ❤😊
I can always empathize with the insanity of addiction. I can't even sympathize when it comes to basically robbing people blind like that. Nor can I even remotely feel bad for anyone who would consider going to the lengths of kidnapping an ex (or literally anyone!) At knife point for any reason. This is beyond the realms of addiction. This is straight up socio psychopathy.
I disagree. I think you may be coming from a misinformed perspective. Please read this as i think this new info could change your mind somewhat. As someone who has seen addiction firsthand. There are many people who have done just as/more shameful things in their addiction. I'm not saying they are redeemable, but if you sympathize with addiction, you should know this type of behavior is not unheard of and very typical of someone in the throes of addiction. It's totally okay to decide you cannot support or be near the person with addiction, but you also have to realize this is not the real person who is operating, to them, reality is distorted. It's very immature and hurtful of them, definitely, but not psychopathic necessarily. They do not see anything, but themselves and what they think is their way to be happy/survive i.e. their addiction. Of course, their behavior is wrong and bad, and they should be held accountable. However, sobriety may show you a genuine human who made some grave mistakes. I am sorry if this sounds harsh, I am very impassioned. I really hope you understand where I am coming from. Please have a good day and I hope this info will leave you with a new perspective
She is psychopath not just addict.
She is narc may be bcs of her beauty everyone is adoring her we can see clearly she is narc and her behavior n character everything is narc
@@sabbie_statI wholeheartedly disagree with you, 100%. Nope, nope nope!!! I too have firsthand experience witnessing addiction and the person who was addicted was not a young person either. He started at a fairly early age and every decision he made was his own and was not about being in throws of addiction. He had very loving parents who did everything in their power to help, and gave him every opportunity to deal with his addiction. He chose the drugs every time, and was most certainly a psychopath. The things he did were morally repugnant and definitely psychopathic. If it's you that did those things as an addict, I have no sympathy for you. 🤨
Addiction makes monsters out of a lot of people.
As a Malaysian, I feel so weird (in a very good way) listening to Malaysian stuff on this channel 😂. Btw, Malaysian culture explanation was spot on 👌

it checked everything i needed. While ive watched you for a while now, i must say that this has been my favorite video. I do prefer this type of vibe compared to the mukbangs. However! I would love to see the addition of you drinking a nice hot tea, iced tea, bubble tea, any tea (or beverage). Keep some sort of mukbangish energy.

Omg yessss!!! Just a warm cozy vibe like we're at a sleepover and she's just dishing out the most scandalous tea! Love the vibe of this idea!❤
I feel so cozy with this lay out :)
I think with any addiction there’s always something deeper going on. I do wonder what got her to that place and what’s the culture around getting help?
Coming from someone who's dealt with addiction their whole life, it's not fair for them to blame their friend for not helping out that "last time" because it probably wouldn't have been the last time. Unfortunately, it sounds like they haven't hit rock bottom yet, so they're going to have a rude awakening! Addiction is a disease, but it's not one to blame on others. We choose to start, but the addiction forbids so many from stopping.🌹
