First time I saw them was in 2015 in a venue with less than 100 people in attendance. And yes, they played Hatter. Afterwards, they sold their own merch. Told the ladies they're the "best band I'd never heard of". Been following them ever since.
Hey RJK!! I see you enjoyed Larkin Poe’s music here - tonight their latest album, Blood Harmony, won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album!! These women are badasses, pass it on!! 👏🎉🤘😎🤘🎸🔥
Great reaction! Thanks! Even though nothing else of theirs is very similar to this, this is still probably the best song to introduce Larkin Poe to others. I'm pretty sure this has more views than anything else they've done, and it was the first song of theirs that I came across around 5 years ago. Having said that, I hope you will dive down into the LP rabbit hole. It's deep and wide. They have hundreds, if not thousands of live recordings on TH-cam and most of us who have been introduced to them become enormous fans. Their live shows are spectacular as they are real musicians with incredible talent. No tape loops or autotune required! Rebecca plays numerous instruments, although she has mostly settled into standard 6 string guitar now. We don't hear the mandolin much these days. And Megan is an absolute genius on the slide. After this video, I like to have new fans watch the Audiotree live segment where they play 4-5 songs and speak in between about their musical journey. That one closes with Wanted Woman / AC/DC which is a monster wall of in your face rock! If you care to do a reaction of another LP song, I'd recommend that. As mentioned by others BBBB is a good one too, as is a more recent song, Bad Spell, from their latest album. I like the live recording from the TELEFUNKEN Soundstage. It shows off a killer guitar solo from Rebecca, along with the always stellar slide playing from Megan.
"...then you'll wait to find you can't remember what you've just said.... It happens to everyone" It's what we can tell ourselves to normalize any situation. A denial that this really is what it is. Oh that happens to everyone. Great reaction and in-depth response to this song. Larkin Poe - simply incredible live and their music is always evolving. Dig in and check them out
These girls are AMAZING!! i saw them live last month in melbourne. It was lovely seeing your reaction. They are probably best known for 'bleach blonde bottle blues' but their cover of old blues standards & their originals are top notch.
@@rjkrecapThey also have their "Tip of the Hat" cover series, on their channel, with 120+ covers, of everyone from Crosby, Stills and Nash to Black Sabbath to ZZ Top, Bob Seger, and Led Zeppelin. Check out their version of C.C.R.s, " Fortunate Son", or their version of "Johnny B Goode".
Rebecca wrote this when she was 15 years old, she is now 32. She still sings it with the same passion. Another more recent version is with the Nu Deco Emsemble, listen to that and see what you think.
I absolutely am a huge fan of them. One of my favorites of theirs is "Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues". Was very fun seeing your reaction to one of my favorites by them.
Hi RJK! That was a GREAT reaction. I've really gotten into Larkin Poe the past year and I'm actually attending my 1st concert with them later this month in New York! Yes, that's a slide guitar / lap steel guitar the older sister plays. Lastly, I'd like to request that you please listen to 19-year old Courtney Hadwin, similarly. I'd suggest 3-songs. Her cover of "Hard To Handle", which she performed at her America's Got Talent audition 5-years ago, her cover of "Sign Of The Times" and her original she just released a few months ago, "That Girl Don't Live Here". THANK YOU!
