From what I heard, the problem with Napoleon is that it plays itself way too safe. They only cover the basics of Napoleon's life and it doesn't teach audiences anything new.

Ive heard they're dropping a 5 hour cut going on apple plus and i feel that may do better than you give them credit they had to shorten the film for the theatrical release

Watch Desiree with Marlon Brando as Napoleon, his portrayal might be closer to the real Napoleon
In my experience, most historical fiction movies aren’t that great (in my opinion). I wouldn’t be surprised if the Napoleon movie would be bad.
