    Every esports scene has had its fair share of scandals. But this scandal in VALORANT Game Changers may have been a first of its kind.
    What seemed like a typical case of ban evasion became one of the more notable incidents of the year that had a huge effect on one of the most important tournaments of the year and even caused one organization to drop out of Game Changers altogether as a result.
    This is the story of Noot Noot Malibu.

    • @BirbIrl
      @BirbIrl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      i enjoy it but with an asterisk. For esports as an entertainment, i think its just fine. Having more content that's different is always nice to have, hard to argue otherwise. A company doesn't really care about the esports integrity unless it pays their bills so being able to make a second cheaper league is just handy. To me it'd be a bummer to see game changers go as i do enjoy the change of pace. I don't think anyone here tries to say that being nr.1 in game changers is the same as being nr.1 in the main league, so really what's the harm? It may seem a bit unfair that someone can or can't participate depending on their gender, but i don't think that's enough of a reason to scrap it altogether. It's good content and i like it kinda deal. hurts "competitive integrity", as subjective as it is, but it's a trade offer I'm okay with

    • @CardboardBones
      @CardboardBones 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      One on hand, it's a marketing, on the other hand, it's trying to reach an audience that is generally discouraged from playing sports due to a common culture of harassment for non-men and minority groups. It's not like the main leagues are required to be men only, however opportunities are often significantly harder for non-men due to common biasis against them (look at the comment above mine, for example). By having these special leagues, the hope is to both de-stigmatize and provide fresh opportunities.

    • @Summer-xu8qu

      @@r99716 It is a good idea because women are 99 times out of 100 outcompeted by men at the top levels, so giving them the option of a space of their own is polite. Also the lower skill ceiling of womens' competition can be more fun to watch - think collegiate leagues in american football.
      Trans women are men, so they should not be allowed in womens' spaces, including womens' only tournaments. That's a no-brainer.

      As they explain in the video, its to encourage women, NBs, etc, to participate by making it clear they are not only accepted but actively encouraged to take part.
