Every esports scene has had its fair share of scandals. But this scandal in VALORANT Game Changers may have been a first of its kind.
What seemed like a typical case of ban evasion became one of the more notable incidents of the year that had a huge effect on one of the most important tournaments of the year and even caused one organization to drop out of Game Changers altogether as a result.
This is the story of Noot Noot Malibu.

We would like to issue a small correction to an error made in the video. The photo that Malibu had submitted was only submitted and approved by Riot, not AnyKey
Cs go had word.exe, now Valorant has Noot Noot
valorant also recently had netflix.exe
Don't forget Clara
@@tsumugikotobuki5949 what happened to her??? 😂
So what's the point of using something like Anykey where the whole crux of the identity is just what they say they are. There's no way for a system like this to work unless you have hard rules against it.
Especially when AI is now involved. Anyone can fake a persona that looks legit.
They come to your house and chop your balls off because allowing you to compete. They are also a bunch of salary thief who's full time job is being PC
I didnt understand why the user was ban evading, can someone explain pls.
Because he was banned and still wanted to play?
19 seconds ago is crazy
What?
riot company is just overall clowns
When we getting a butlerian jihad?
everything about this was cringe. riot, the tournament, anikey, noot noot
Dude put in 300k for valorant? And then lost right away?? Just end it all at that point there is no hope
compared to what got spent on the overwatch league its chump change lol.
Someone cheated in a 'anyone except male players allowed' tournament... With a third party brought in to dictate who is male and who is not? And that incident made an org pull out from supporting more exclusionary tournaments? I see no misfortune here.
Appreciate the reporting as always.
Don't think about it because you're evil and evil if you do
Bro it wasn't "anyone except males" - they let trans people in.
@@arran4285Yeah apparently pattern recognition is now racist and transphobic.
Game Changers is the dumbest things to come from this generation
Man those tweets are SO BAD. In any world, guilty or not, what did they ever think the tweets would achieve lol
I really afraid with the future if all company keep on pushing AI to everything.
Not to be that guy but you should be... Everything will be algorithms that'll be for the corporations.
This is why AI needs to be regulated quickly.
This story is ridiculous on so many levels, from beginning to end.
4:03 twin brothers moment
Real 😨
com'on when u outsource verification to a small online company that doesn't do thorough background checks... what do you expect. How they let an Ai pic pass? If they claim to be checking these ppls social media you must have asked for a IG n seen some of the pics weren't lining up.
Just going to set the record straight here since I stumbled on this video; the AI photo was only submitted to the broadcast team, not AnyKey.
@@autumnprocrastinates still you guys are suppose to do checks. How u not catch tthey were tricking the league?
@@trunks10k We definitely fumbled during the 2023 season, but we've been doing very strong throughout this year with our changes thanks to the lessons we learned, and we have received no reports on anybody potentially exploiting the system this year.
@@autumnprocrastinates How to you check a person without a photo? That's a huge oversight.
I can see someone suing EPIC for discrimination here lol
Seeing this happen in real time was crazy haha
Maybe because im more involved in the fgc but is there like teirs for players because in the fgc unless its a special event its usually a tournament and u play for top 8 by any player
That's why I like fighting games. It's you against another person and you can't blame anyone else because they aren't team games
Wait for game changers tournament, don’t players show up at a venue? I’m confused as to why we don’t know what Malibu looks like lol
I never expected to read a title Like this 😂
GREAT, time to watch Overwatch Calling All Heroes.
Does universe have an actual awards?
Half of them are dudes tho wtf the coaches and like 3 dudes 😂 it’s like owl or owcs now with Koreans on your team
Apparently you can be a dude pretending to be trans, but not a dude pretending to be a different dude pretending to be trans.
Wait, so is there still ONLY women league or they now consider as "Game Changer" too?
Rito really have a whole scene for people who are nonebi/trans/female? The most exclusive circuit they hosted yet.
Just going to set the record straight here since this video ended up on my homepage: "Malibu's profile picture, the one verified by AnyKey, was actually generated through AI." -> this is not true. The AI photo was never submitted to AnyKey, and was only submitted to the broadcast team. There are many valid criticisms over how we at AnyKey handled last year in regards to our certification process, but please get the facts straight.
So you are a BS DEI company then?
Ah yes a DEI infested game having their Lia Thomas moment.
No idea why people keep seperating female and male esports, both are or at least should be equal and played in the same category
part of it is a marketing publicity stunt. you fake exclusivity by propping up a prize pool or grant exclusively for a minority. Its low effort and relatively cheap for the marketting
i enjoy it but with an asterisk. For esports as an entertainment, i think its just fine. Having more content that's different is always nice to have, hard to argue otherwise. A company doesn't really care about the esports integrity unless it pays their bills so being able to make a second cheaper league is just handy. To me it'd be a bummer to see game changers go as i do enjoy the change of pace. I don't think anyone here tries to say that being nr.1 in game changers is the same as being nr.1 in the main league, so really what's the harm? It may seem a bit unfair that someone can or can't participate depending on their gender, but i don't think that's enough of a reason to scrap it altogether. It's good content and i like it kinda deal. hurts "competitive integrity", as subjective as it is, but it's a trade offer I'm okay with
they aren't separated, women aren't good enough to compete in t1 leagues, if they were, they would be there
One on hand, it's a marketing, on the other hand, it's trying to reach an audience that is generally discouraged from playing sports due to a common culture of harassment for non-men and minority groups. It's not like the main leagues are required to be men only, however opportunities are often significantly harder for non-men due to common biasis against them (look at the comment above mine, for example). By having these special leagues, the hope is to both de-stigmatize and provide fresh opportunities.
@@CardboardBones Can you give some examples of such common biases? And why wouldn't there be similar biases against non-binary from straight female or vice versa in a league like this?
So how can an AI prove if I identify as non-binary, tomorrow and become apart of this tournament? I don't have to be on any hrt, I don't really have to change anything but say my pronouns they/them? I don't get it.
The ML part of this story was the generation of that picture of an Asian woman who doesn't exist.
@@Asdayasman I get that they were avoiding a ban, I was curious about what I asked.
This person was obviously ban evading, I'm asking another question.
Hooh boy this comment section is a mess. Game Changers sounds like a great concept for an esports league, good on them for setting it up. Hope it can move past this incident and continues to encourage a greater diversity of people to enjoy esports.
Weird to call it a safe space if you have to post your real face
you don't have to, the verification process is 100% private, you can choose to have your face shown or not.
riot is just a trash company 😂
"Game changers" you mean, "mentally unstable brigade"
edgy little kid aint ya?
original, one step away from identifying as an attack helicopter
"corvette_jake"? you mean "transphobic child" right?
go do your homework
big words for a minor
It's not even a physical sport but they still need a separate league...talk about baby sitting smh
women-only esports leagues seems as stupid as women-only chess leagues
So not stupid at all because men outperform women at the top level and so a space where women can compete to be THE best is a good idea?
@@Asdayasman why is it a good idea? it makes more sense with women's sports because there are physical differences. and regardless, trans people will dominate the women's leagues
@@r99716 It is a good idea because women are 99 times out of 100 outcompeted by men at the top levels, so giving them the option of a space of their own is polite. Also the lower skill ceiling of womens' competition can be more fun to watch - think collegiate leagues in american football.
Trans women are men, so they should not be allowed in womens' spaces, including womens' only tournaments. That's a no-brainer.
As they explain in the video, its to encourage women, NBs, etc, to participate by making it clear they are not only accepted but actively encouraged to take part. Often non cis men are met with everything from surprise that they even there to harassment and bullying. It works to discourage them from participating in ways that are often invisible to cis men.
@@MageJohnClannerAh so more bs DEI then. Got it.
.... "gender diverse".... huh
"rarely given the same opportunities" no, its cuz they suck, if women were good enough they'd be in top teams lol
get a load of this guy lmao
