  • Make tea like a British person, and enjoy a nice strong cup of tea. In this educational video, we delve into the art of brewing black tea in the quintessentially British way. Although this video is aimed at people new to brewing black tea in a pot: Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned tea enthusiast, these step-by-step instructions will ensure you create a perfect cup every time.
    1. Selecting the Right Tea Leaves: Learn how to choose the ideal black tea leaves based on your taste preferences and the size of your teapot. We discuss the importance of quality and explore alternatives to suit your palate.
    2. Water Temperature Matters: Discover the optimal water temperature for steeping black tea. We emphasize the balance between extracting flavors and avoiding bitterness. Whether you use a thermometer or use an electric tea kettle , we’ve got you covered.
    3. Steeping Time and Patience: Explore the nuances of steeping time. Start at 2.5 minutes, and adjust for flavour. Take notes and refine your technique for future cups.
    4. Essential Tools: Strainers and Tea Cosies: Understand why a roomier infuser or filter is crucial for allowing tea leaves to unfurl and release their flavors. We also discuss the role of tea cosies in maintaining warmth during serving.
    5. Serving with Elegance: Learn how to serve your freshly brewed black tea with finesse. Whether it’s your chipped pot and a favourite mug, or a classic teapot & individual cups, presentation matters.
We briefly touch upon Fortnum & Mason ‪@Fortnums‬, the iconic London tea emporium. While this video isn’t endorsed by them, we appreciate their legacy. Fortnum & Mason offers an exquisite range of black teas, from traditional blends to rare single-estate varieties. Their commitment to quality and heritage makes them a delightful choice for any tea connoisseur, and a great place to start exploring quality tea products.
Sit back, relax with a cuppa and enjoy this video!

Great video. I will be saving it for the future. I'm a yank that quit coffee over a year ago and been trying different teas.

Thanks! Its good to try lots of different types of tea. I like a strong breakfast blend in the morning but usually go for lower caffeine options after 11 or so. Big fan of mint and ginger options but bear in mind these will work better with lower temp water! Appreciate the feedback 🤪

It is an amazing place, from the Field restaurant to the tea salon. The basement food ball, the china and kitchen ware selection and of course tea and biscuits! I love the sweet counter too, they do the best licorice!!
