And than, Guilbert offered that same "I'm here for you" kind of hug to Bash (17:35). I like to think he learned this from Anne, as if he realized himself this was the only right thing to do when you see a dear friend in pain.
She wasn't trying mean or insensitive anything by what she said at his dad's funeral she was just trying to relate and let him know that he's not alone and that he can get through this got in a roundabout way she has her support ( because she's been through something similar) I do that often myself. Sometimes when we're trying to find the right words even though we're good at it as writers and avid readers we just can't. So we go straight to what we can relate to and hopefully, that offers same of the support they need.
When Gilbert and Anne hugged "This is so sad but I'm so happy" honestly my mood. I cried the whole episode, because I love Mary and I didn't expected that she would die. And the end of this episode was so beautiful and speechless

Everyone but them knows that they would make a great pair of friends, partners, lovers, husband and wife and parents. That in itself was really hard to find in that time period. Lucy is the only writer that I've read to-date from classic literature that encompasses this with her characters. Little Women came close but missed the mark a little bit. In terms of both Gilbert & Anne's intelligence, their views on the world, their respect and the freedom they gave each other to be themselves even when they were "rivals". That is huge!

Isn't it crazy how far medicine has come in the past 150 years? Sure, even today sepsis can kill but with the advent of antibiotics, the risk has decreased significantly. It's always shocking how quickly death could come for people back in the day and how little it took to end a life.

ok but what if after Mary dies Gilbert goes back to school but he’s all depressed and he sits alone outside during lunch and the girls are inside eating lunch where they normally sit and they see Gilbert and ofc ruby will say something like “Gilbert looks so handsome when he’s sad” Diane will be like ruby he just lost a good friend BUT THEN Anne will get up and go to Gilbert and be like here AND ITS AN APPLE FROM THE ORCHARD LIKE THE REVERSE OF THE FIRST SCHOOL EPISODE and the girls are watching in the window and Gilbert takes the apple and Anne sits down and eats with Gilbert neither of them saying a word
Ok but aside the tragic episode, is it just me that whenever Gilbert and Anne have any form of interaction or just look at each other, i always start screaming and smiling cause i just ship them two SO MUCH
