what's
I will post a similar comment here as i did elsewhere the fisheries crisis has been caused by successive governments failures but more so in the last two decades.
Artisanal fishermen have been fishing this way for centuries and even despite population growth, the fish were still in abundance.
The problem is permitting large conmercial trawlers to overfish and also their destructive practice of dredging the seabeds. Ghana's permits for these vessels are the cheapest in West Africa. On top of that we have unscrupulous individuals who front for foreign vessels who otherwise could not fish legally.
These trawlers spend months on the sea sucking up everything. In one day they catch more than all the canoes we can see here combined.
Then there is no proper policing of Ghana's territorial waters.
Then the stupid fisheries department punishes the humble local fishermen by imposing bans.
Other countries have already overfished, so one didnt have to look far to see what would happen.
There are several reports criticising Ghana government for creating these problems.
In the end it will create a problem for employment, nutrition and food security visionless idiots !
Please how can i get the Man's number?
