    Excellent! I always enjoy your video adventures. Shooting north must be a challenge, avoiding glows from aurora. Clear skies!

      Thank you Alan! Sometimes the Aurora disturb, but this night there were no aurora. And when it's strong enough to be disturbing, it's a spectacle in it self to enjoy! 😀

    What a beautiful location....nothing like being out in nature!

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yes it's very beautiful and I think it adds a dimension to the videos to show the landscape I'm doing astrophotography in. For me astrophoto is a lot to get out in the nature. I often get a special feeling when I'm out alone. Somekind of connection to the past when I experience a dark sky in the same way as our ancestors did. Not heavy affected by light pollution.

    Besides the AstroPhotos I love your Drone landscape shots Dave …:you are also a good Director of your videos …it makes me feel like I’m there with you but in the comfort of my home… can you maybe setup an All Sky Camera one night so we can see the Viking Skies …

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Yes I think it adds a dimension to show the landscape I'm doing this hobby in and wants to invite all of you on a journey into the dark skies of the arctic! I will think of setup an All Sky Camera, would be interesting! I have also ordered a Sky Quality meter so soon I will be able to measure the sky too!

    In Florida the Polaris is waaaaay down by the horizon. Crazy he was pointing basically straight up

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was about 66-67°N so it feels as Polaris is almost over the head. I have to tilt the tripod because the mount is constructed for max 65°N. 😀

    Something about seeing how much larger (and more complicated with collimation) your new telescope is, makes it even more epic that you get out there to shoot. "Don't be lazy" is obviously still the moto. :-)

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Michael! It's a little bit more of all to handle, but it's a great scope (besides the focuser)! It's very fun to take a step further and learn how to master a little more focal length (and collimation and such. I think I will order t-shirts with the text "don't be lazy", you should have one for free! 😅 Found your insta btw, great images! 👍

    Why not use the 2600MC? It's more sensitive than the 1600 and you don't have to fiddle with filters. Being in Canada, I share the feelings of a -20°C night 😉

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm about to convert to mono for several reasons. First and foremost, it's fun to take a step further. I want to have control over as many steps as possible and so far it has not been any fiddling, the process is very easy. Processing is also more fun I think (especially with narrowband) With a mono I can also shoot narrowband and expand opportunities to shoot hydrogen-alpha during moonlight. I think I will sell the 2600MC and probably upgrade the 1600MM to a 2600MM when its possible to get my hands on one! Yeah -20° is cosy!! 😀

    • @tempusfugit6820
      @tempusfugit6820 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NorthernPanorama Funny. I shot with a 1600MM for 4 years. I bought a 2600MC and an L extreme filter. When you separate the Ha and OIII you get from the l extreme you get a lot better image and more details than with the 1600. I shoot only SII with the 1600 now. Getting 2 filters in one night with the L extreme is a huge advantage when the weather is cloudy most of the time. I might consider a 2600MM when all I have left are the very faint objects.

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tempusfugit6820 For me, learning new methods is a one of the main reasons I'm doing this. I'm still a beginner, this was my first LRGB mono session and I have done one narrow band session. There are probably a ton of things to learn, but for me to learn how to handle the mono cam and learn how to process the files, learn how to shoot out in the field in -30°C and everything around this hobby is a great part of why I'm doing this. The end result is only a consequence of ones experience gained over time and for now it's a lot more fun to shoot mono than osc and during the process I will discover pros and cons and gain experience.

    Stunning image David and thank you for sharing the journey! Snow has finally fallen here at home in Manitoba (30 cm) and I have shoveled off my viewing area near my house. Waiting for clear skies to come again to my Bortle 2 backyard.
    Your images are so clear. What do you use to process the images?

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! It's nice with snow, the landscape get so beautiful! Not a lot here now yet though. I use Astro Pixel Processor for stacking and processing. In photoshop I adjust the colors and curves. I want to highlite the blue a little bit and bring up the contrast between dark and light areas in the galaxy. It's not a lot of processing actually and I do the most in APP. Earlier I mainly used StarTools - it has its advantages, but I experience that I get cleaner results from APP. It's also very convenient do both stacking and processing in the same software.

    Morsomt å se deg ute i kulden igjen! 😄👌🏻 Og et flott resultat, igjen! Jeg la merke til at du ikke har 'spikes' på stjernene dine. Får du ikke det med en reflektor, eller har du prosessert de vekk?
