I've shared one video so far on our family cabin in northern Michigan and our plans to update this space. This cabin is so dear to me, and holds so many special memories and although it has been a lot of work, I have been so excited to update it and take you along step by step.
So far a lot of the work in the cabin has been cleaning and organizing, but in today's video I get to decorate with all of the thrifted vintage lake decor finds! I hope you enjoy friends - be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!

Love all your garage sale, thrift, and FB Marketplace finds. I have found home decor and furniture for my house from garage sales and thrift stores for decades, probably 90 percent of my home. Not only do you save a ton of money, it's more fun!

We live in the Uk but have a holiday cottage in France, very rustic, I have used a garden hoe and a long handled synth for curtain poles, everyone loves them xx☺️
The Christmas tree collar, if you turn it upside down (narrow part on the bottom), it’ll look like the tree is in a basket.

I love this! You did an amazing job. You updated this precious little lake cabin, but in such a way as to honor what it is, a quaint family lake cabin. You didn't go crazy with all new, fancy furnishings, and over- done nautical decor. Your eye and use of thrifted and gifted second- hand items were done with perfection. You could be a set designer. You really pulled together a cohesive new look for the cabin. So pretty! And great job to your husband and boys for their help. You have such a sweet family. ❤

Absolutely love how you put this cabin reno and decor together! I love that blue checkered chair and sailboat print!! Those cabinets came out so nice!! What if you hung the sailboat print in the living room/dining room on the empty wall on the right side of the fireplace? With an art lamp above it perhaps, abd it could be somewhat lined up horizontally with the TV, maybe mount the tv on a stud? Although it looks so great the way you have it, but if you hung the sailboat print on the other side it wouldn’t be totally lined up unless tv was mounted? Or maybe you could put an antique mirror on that empty wall as well. Anyways love how you decorate totally inspires my decor and thrifting choices! 💖

Wow you are so lucky ,to have a cabin, not sure what kind of job you’re hubby does but to be able to to own a house and a cabin and you being a stay at home mom ,my husband and I both work for years and barely can afford to rent a cottage for a week in the summer,
This cabin is actually owned by my aunt! She graciously lets us use it year round, and we help to keep it updated and cared for!
People manage their money differently. They have worked hard and sacrificed some things to reach their goals. You can too.

Andrea, have you ever seen a video where you take rope and you wrap it around glass bottles to make it more nautical? You might try that on one or both of your glass bottles on the hearth.
Also, if it falls over, it has more protection, since there are children there.

Loved watching you do the cottage out, and it looked lovely with all the new touches you'd made. I personally thought you'd done well with the units you built either side of the fireplace, really good idea, and turned out beautifully, also good idea to move the t.v. on to there. I also liked that little unit in your entryway what a load of character that has, just adorable. The cabin is amazing...a true blessing for your family gatherings! You've curated so well to maintain an easy, breezy feel that doesn't scream, but begs to be enjoyed. One thought...or two: consider putting the narrow cabinet unit on rollers. You'll enjoy the option to move it parallel to the sink wall when you require a different layout for serving, etc. Attach raise-able panels on each end for more serving space and a pegboard on the back that will accommodate hooks for a variety of uses when the cabinet is moved. The rattan chairs with the blue print at garage sale 4:50 would have been cool painted white! The cabinets look good!

A really pretty one that does well is called New Dawn…. I planted mine last year and it was magazine gorgeous this year. All my neighbors were jealous.
Grew it in front of my porch so it would climb the railing and go up the post so I can make my cottage look more English.
