Ok, so Shiranui was heavily injured BEFORE he went to the future and helped in the Lechku/Nechku fight, got even MORE injured, then went back in time, and then walked off to his death in the moon cave protecting Nagi.... Shiranui is Badass.
I always thought Shrinaui went to the future first to help ammy, gets injured there, returns back to his time, goes to get the amber to enter the cave but gets frozen, and then after being freed by Chibi he goes to the moon cave.
+redafox1 and after helping pwn orochi, he gets taken to the village where he takes a large meteor of evil dark stuff to THE GOD DAMN FACE. BADASS LEVEL: BULLIED CHUCK NORRIS IN UNIVERSITY OF BADASSERY.
I'd really like to see an Okami sequel where you play as Shiranui. Just, the struggles he goes through, being the one who actually lived through the fall of the Celestial Plains, waited for the birth of Nagi, and who may have had multiple Celestial Envoys along with him.
Actually amateratsu is the reincarnation of shiranui so, can be that chibi's granpa or some kind of dad, but I vote on the granpa theory. Sorry if I misspelled any of those names.
Personally I think you both have a point but maybe God Reincarnation is like Asexual reproduction or something. So Amaterasu is Shiranui yet also Shiranui's daughter in a sense. They made a point to note the fact that Shiranui is male and Amaterasu is female despite being reincarnated, but in Okami it was said that Gods were Legendary Pokemon, and by that I mean they're gender-less. And that means. Chibi's father is DITTO! No not really, but that would be funny.
LOL 13:54 Chuggaa stubbornly doesn't want to use manpuku's fire to melt the ice twice xD I laughed so hard at the failure while chuggaa didn't want to talk during the emotional scene. He must have been holding it in XD
Okay, what happened was, after Shiranui died, the villagers made a statue in her honor. Sakuya brought Shiranui's spirit back into the body of the statue, bringing her back to life. They are the same deity, just in a slightly different body, and weaker because she died and very few people believed in the gods anymore. Also, it shows you that Ammy is Shiranui at the end of Ōkami.
Mizuchi doesn't really look like a water or ice dragon, he looks more like one of the beasts, which makes sense. Fire Beast, Ice Beast, Spark Beast, Death Beast, Dino Beast.
If it goes perfectly well with the continuity, why is it that when you visit Ponc'tan in Okami, Isshaku refers to the player as "Ammy" when he sees them? Not to mention, the statue in Kamiki that Amaterasu was resurrected from was said to be a statue of "Shiranui", which makes me draw the conclusion that Ammy and Shiranui are the same wolf, just at different levels of power. Also, not once in Okami did they ever say Shiranui was male.
Matthew Sadlier In Okami if you get all 100 stray beads then you can play the game as different characters and switch at will, but they're just costumes, and one of them is Shiranui
When you meet Isshaku in Okami, he calls you Ammy. That is because Isshaku were Amaterasu's companion 100 years before the events of Okami. Shiranui is the name given to her by the villagers in Kamiki. That is my opinion :)
The scene between Chibi and Shiranui is just so d'awww-inducing. Two gods of different eras, sharing a heartwarming moment. Of course, it's a bit scary to think that if Chibi weren't there, Shiranui would never have gotten to the Moon Cave to help Nagi...
people are trying to justify it, but from Okami, Ishaku outright calls Ammy, well, Ammy. Shiranui was the name she was given by the villagers, not her actual name. I feel this is more just, either the writing team never actually played okami, or the translation team did but only gave it a cursory playthrough, not really examining the text and likely skimmed through the game's script.
I fucking love that heartwarming moment that shiranui and his grandson chibi, so bloody cute. That and I like how shianui just casually points out the relationship between him and chibi to isshaku,
If Ammy returned to the celestial plain and had a child, would that mean the she had sex with herself because amaterasu is the reincarnation of shiranui?
I hate the Mizuchi fight with a passion because everytime I fight him, I try to light the cannon and end up either melting the icicle above his neck or waiting too long to end up with him knocking Manpuku away. I have no way around this because I'm not that good with lines and directions so I end up taking a long while just chipping his health away slowly. What made this fight so bad for me, however, was the fact I didn't unlock the 3rd tier upgrades so I was busy chipping his health away with the sun beads.
well, wouldn't call Ammy genderless. Amaterasu is a female goddess in folklore, and there are several hints in the original okami that hint towards ammy being female, like the ghost of the gale shrine seeing Ammy's true spirit as a pure white maiden, as one example. but eh. Semantics.
I love the Tales series, but I never play through one without a guide simply because I have learned how easy it is to miss things. It really irks my ire, but I still love 'em. Looking forward to Xillia next year!
chugga puns: 0(25) jepson puns: 0(8) game puns: 0(2) total: 0(35) Did anyone else click the previous button and see the video go back to the beginning? Apparently this episode is so timeless that it came before itself.
I love the Tales series, but when Chugga mentioned jerkish sidequests the first thing that came to mind was the Tales of Symphonia collector's book. You have to do three playthroughs, and that's only if you use your grade to carry over the collector book info in future playthrough.
I think I know which cutscene you're talking about. But while Amaterasu wasn't visible, she was still there. And yes, Ammy is really powerful at peak power, but the injury from Lechku and Nechku was a heavy one. The plot does have some holes, but I personally don't mind it that much and I think they still did a nice job.
One thing I like is how Shiranui looks badass, Ammy looks pretty cool and Chibi looks simple. The supernatural evil and good, demons and gods, both lost complexity and power over time, as mankind took its place in the world, one can assume. I guess it makes sense, in another way. They must both be in balance, and whenever good wins, it also pays the price of weakening like the evil it destroys.
I'm confused, and perhaps this can be attributed to the new developers wanting to alter some of Okami's plot but... Wasn't Ammy just a weaker, revived Shiranui and not the offspring of him/her? The proof of this is in Waka's, Isshaku's, and the Celestial's dialog from around the end of Okami. Also, the end of Okami kinda reinforces this point as well. Anyone have a good explanation for this?
We don't know for sure. The game never makes references to him, but consider that there was no reason to at all, plus he hadn't been designed by Capcom when Okami was released (and thus took place relative to real time).
I see what you're getting at but there's a problem. Issun didn't have any contact with Ponc'tan before Ammy brought him back to it. It's mentioned a few times that no one had heard from Issun since he left. As for Ammy's markings, at that point in time Ishaku's eyesight is shot, so he couldn't see her markings anyway, and recognizes her based on her bark. He's surprised to 'see' her again and can sence she's weaker, and suggests she look for a new envoy since he assumes she doesn't have one.
Perhaps a "force field" optional brush technique? So THAT'S where they were when Amaterasu and Issun arrived. Chibi says "stay down!", "yeah!", "he's my ancestor", "hi there" Shiranui, "i must...", "it's nothing" Chibi says "are you alright?" Shiranui says "yeah, i'm fine", "Orochi must be stopped" Chibi says "we'll go, you rest up", "yeah", "bye" Shiranui says "he's my grandson", "he came here from the future to stop an evil from his time" Amaterasu's strange behaviour explained here.
I think that was only in the translated version, I found some comments from Japanese-speaking users who said Shiranui was NOT called Chibi's "grandfather" in the original.
hey chugga i dont know what you plan to do for your next game but i would like to see you do a lets play of mario and luigi super star saga in the near future.

Aww those moments between Shiranui and Chibi were so cute
Best grandfather and grandson moment
"It does DRAG ON for a bit."
Oh, Emile, you and your unintentional puns.
The end of this part with shiranui and chibi is so sweet... i loove it.
Epic Chibi spin. The wolf pup with no fear of death, he leaps, he bounds, he naps quietly on a summer day!
I guess in the realm of the gods, reincarnating into your next form is pretty much the same genetically as if Shiranui were Ammy's father...
Chibi: Grandpa!
Manpuku:'YOUR ANCESTOR?!
Isshaku: What the heck???
77747man
Shiranui: "Ugh. Bloody time travel. My future self that's also my daughter had to deal with this too."
I'd really like to see an Okami sequel where you play as Shiranui. Just, the struggles he goes through, being the one who actually lived through the fall of the Celestial Plains, waited for the birth of Nagi, and who may have had multiple Celestial Envoys along with him.
At 17:28 i figured something out. If Chibiterasu is the son of Amaterasu, than Amaterasu is the daughter of Shiranui.
Actually amateratsu is the reincarnation of shiranui so, can be that chibi's granpa or some kind of dad, but I vote on the granpa theory. Sorry if I misspelled any of those names.

Plot twist, ammy is a ditto. Dun Dun Duuuuuun

the moments where numerous people's hearts melt.

manpuku: human cannonball and slayer of dragons
THROW MANPUKU AT IT UNTIL IT DIES!
+TheOrIsItSomethingWo THROW THE MANPUKU!
Chef extraordinaire
I kinda wish there was a fight in this game with Chibi, Ammy and Shiranui
Mizuchi doesn't really look like a water or ice dragon, he looks more like one of the beasts, which makes sense. Fire Beast, Ice Beast, Spark Beast, Death Beast, Dino Beast.
Dinobeast is big and scary
Forget all these Japanese gods, we have heropon riki, the god of smiles and cuteness!
Chibi's little barks are just so damn cute
one thing i never questioned until now is how can people understand chibi, amaturasu and shiranui
I guess only the chosen can understand them
I....well...you...erm....GOD TELEPATHY!
That's so cute at the end!

Was cold in there, but seeing my grandson just warmed my heart.
Chibi uses Manpuku! It's super effective!
Adorableness D'awwwww!
@ 17:02 I'm not gunna lie, the first word out of my mouth was "Awww..."
Cutest moment in Okaimiden, Chibi and Shiranui:) Awwwe
I love the way Manpuku flails his arms around when he gets launched. I was half expecting Chuggaa to say "MANPUKUS ARMS!"
I would love to have a prequel where you play as Shiranui. And the final boss is Orochi.
Aw, wolf-grandpa and wolf-grandson love! X3
The whole Shiranui Chibi thing was just adorable and happy. Its just so adorable.
When you meet Isshaku in Okami, he calls you Ammy. That is because Isshaku were Amaterasu's companion 100 years before the events of Okami. Shiranui is the name given to her by the villagers in Kamiki. That is my opinion :)
16:25 chibiterasu uses spin attack, it's super adorable

Of course, it's a bit scary to think that if Chibi weren't there, Shiranui would never have gotten to the Moon Cave to help Nagi...
Well, Chibi was always there to get Shiranui out.
people are trying to justify it, but from Okami, Ishaku outright calls Ammy, well, Ammy. Shiranui was the name she was given by the villagers, not her actual name. I had a cute attack seeing Chibi and his grandpa hugging. Awww
Moment with chibi and shirinusui is so heart warming
chibi is so cute once he is loving on shironui!
1: shiranui looks awesome
17:00 Aaaawwwwwwwww! cuteness overload! grandpa and grandson meets and it is just soooo adorable! I wanna hug them both!
I really don't like that Ishaku calls her Shiranui here, in Ōkami, he calls her Ammy, like Issun calls Amaterasu later.
I fucking love that heartwarming moment that shiranui and his grandson chibi, so bloody cute. That and I like how shianui just casually points out the relationship between him and chibi to isshaku,
Aww i love the part with chibi and shiranui it is so cute
Oh god. When I was playing through Okamiden and got to 100 years in the past, I cried. It was just too cute and sad and AWWWWHHHH
Thank you so very much!! Your videos helped me a lot. 😊💕
That was so cute with Chibi and Shiranui!
If Ammy returned to the celestial plain and had a child, would that mean the she had sex with herself because amaterasu is the reincarnation of shiranui?
+Chayvenne she probably is asexual like some animal
It is a possibility. Kami, unlike gods in Western mythologies, have been known to have both male and female attributes, all in one being.
The scene between Chibi and Shiranui is my most favorite cut scene of Okamiden for sure. Always so emotional.
17:00 that sad music compliments the scene almost perfectly...
D'awww cute Shiranui/Chibi scene.
This is supposed to take place after what happened to him in Okami. That's why he is in such a bad shape.
That's the best episode yet! Loved the twist at the end.
Thank You Chugga. I was stuck on that boss for a year and couldnt figure out a way to kill him. Thanks so much. Now i can finally finish my game
YES!! THE PART I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO FINALLY GOT SHOWED BY CHUGGA!! I was looking forward to the part with Shiranui.
That's so cute
I hate the Mizuchi fight with a passion because everytime I fight him, I try to light the cannon and end up either melting the icicle above his neck or waiting too long to end up with him knocking Manpuku away. oh my god
that is so heart melting i cannot even make me write right
I AM MELTING
That scene is too adorable for my poor heart.
I think this is the cutest episode so far XD
Well, one of them XP
Just saw you on TGS, you were an amazing guest bro :). Please go on more often!
13:35 "Grandpa...?"
This is my faverite cutsence chibis bark and seeing shirinui just makes it cute and awesome at the same time

Tales sidequests are infuriating, but there are so many that it's pretty much guaranteed you'll stumble into a few of them.
The chibi shiranui scenes are so touching! I cried thru all of them! :')
i like the musc at the end... but shiranui.. cliffhanger wow! that was cool. i never thought i would see shiranui cool

I think it's really cool that Chibi helped out his grandfather. Even if his tentacles look like a fishing net, it's still awesome!
Awesome boss battle, and awesome reappearance by Ammy's and Chibi's ancestor Shiranui. Just. So. Awesome!
chugga! you can make the camera go crazy by holding down on the touch screen and moving down at the same time. Please try!

I'm curious… what happens if you use fire on the ice mizuchi was in BEFORE you get the pearl...
Daaang, this series of Okamiden is bringing a lot of the past isn't it! LOL
We don't know for sure. The game never makes references to him, but consider that there was no reason to at all, plus he hadn't been designed by Capcom when Okami was released (and thus took place relative to real time).
That fireburst took you a while...
There's another one of those cute moments and I love it. Chibi can't get any cuter than that. Oh who am I kidding, of course he can. :)
Chibi just has the most lovey-dovey family ^ ^, even Ammy is, no wonder he goes and kissies everybody!
I see what you're getting at but there's a problem. Issun didn't have any contact with Ponc'tan before Ammy brought him back to it. I think I about died from adorableness at the last bit of the video.
When he shows his neck chugga you usually were supposed to use power slash on it to do twice as much damage as a glaive hit.
