I remember in 2012 where this video was recommended to me by youtube. Even though i didn't know the lyrics at that time, I still feel the sense of beautiful message being conveyed in the vocals. When I try to push my luck for MEXT, I decided to visit this video again in 2017 and finally I can understand the lyrics. 8 years has passed and this song is more relevant than ever. The message is still clear in my heart. Even though the current situation will screw my country in several years to come, I will try my best to survive.

Every time I watch this I can't help but smile and cry at the same time. Being happy that she had someone to love her, comfort her, and laugh with her till the very end. And sad not just because she passed away but because of how the ending hints that she passed away happily & peacefully. With the hints being her IV no longer dripping & the final scene of her smiling at the end (remember the title of the song "Last Smile").
The stories of love are so sad. People are actually meant to be together, so such things can pierce through heart if it go wrong. I wish for everybody to be loved because I know how it is to be loved, eventough I was ever alone but I dont think that it stops me from being what I really am. wow.. I have to admit that I was wrong about Yanagi Nagi.. her music & vocal are actually quite beautiful, soothing, & calming,..I always love this type/style/genre of j-pop music.. which I think is quite RARE nowadays!
This is only my opinion, I think the song is talking about how life doesn't go as you imagine. That even thou it's hard to accept something. We have to move on. In the story one of them had a dream of becoming a doctor or something. She wanted to help a lot of people, but when she knew that she had some health problems. She gave up that dream. Her boyfriend tried to do something for her. He tried to fullfill her dreams, but it wasn't that easy. He tried his best and failed. They thought that everything is finished, that they won't be able to do something. In the end they realized that even thou they failed they tried there best to surpass the challenges in front of them. And that they should look forward rather looking into the past. This is what i think of the song's message. Hope it helps
