@@nbel9868 I've seen his streams! They're really fun to watch. Im from EU, and since he's in the UK his ESO streams are always perfectly timed for me :)
I would like to take a moment to thank this youtuber. I am a very casual gamer who doesn’t have time to play much video games I usually play sports games as I am a sports fanatic but like to change the pace now and then to play something different like this but have hard time knowing what to put my time into as sports games are simple, this youtuber broke this down very well, thank you sir
theHunter call of the wild, turned me from casual to 10hrs a day for 3mnths and still 5hrs a day its just incredible hunting realistic animals. Its bigger that fallout map's. Animal ai is fantastic. Graphics the best ive seen. Now with all DLC cheap dlc too. I think thehunter will keep growing 2yr old game finally getting traction.
@@moejoegaming9838 then not a game for you. For some hunting is a passion. And I do like to hunt. Or would like to hunt again at some point. But some people don't want to spend the money, nor hassle to get a hunters liscense. So the game is a great alternative and nothing wrong with that. For you it may be boring. But for them it's hella fun
I just wanna say that ESO getting reviewed so positively by you, Nixxiom, who are primarily considered a WoW-based youtuber, means quite a lot for us ESO fans. Truthfully, the time period between late 2018 and up to this early 2019, and onwards, can and is considered by many as the Golden Age of ESO. With 2 successfull expansions up to now (Morrowind, Summerset), and an extremely hyped upcoming one (Elsweyr), ESO really stands strong against the heavy competition of primarily WoW and of course other popular MMO, like Guild Wards 2, Neverwinter etc. Nowadays, the EU server of the game, and the game's capital cities, are loaded with a good amount of new and old players alike, that merrily go about their business, whether doing PvE content like dungeons, or PvPing in Cyrodill. Imo, my only regret atm is that the PvP aspect of the game is very unbalanced, and by some even considered broken, as veteran players heavily use twink builds with gear sets that are considered end-game, and therefore unobtainable by new players, leading to situations where even 1 veteran player can kill 50 or more new players and tip the scales extremely to his Alliance's favor.
In all honesty as someone who’s been playing sense console release i can agree with most of what you said but not the last part, pvp is very unbalanced but the gear isn’t really hard to get even for new players. In pvp a lot of the meta sets are craftable. Also if you do need a dungeon or trial set you can run it on normal (which is a complete joke as far as difficulty in this game). The problem really is understanding how these sets work and which sets work in sync together. A new player won’t understand that because the game doesn’t teach you that. But at the same time there are plenty of guides and videos around to teach you.
The only thing I wish about ESO is that it was like WoW in the sense that all the mobs aren't scaled down to your level... It makes it feel kinda easy tbh
Thats what PvP is all about though...WoW used to be the same way, people who were veterans did had way more survivability and did way more damage than freshies, that was kinda the fun of it. It inspired new players to get good gear and want to be that bad ass that can kill everyone while looking cool. WoW sorely lacks in that department these days.
Personally I like the fact that ESO hasn't gone the route of balance to the point that there's no difference between classes or that all classes suck in the name of balance like WoW has become. Once upon a time classes in WoW all had their niche and were good at different things but now it's all about making sure they all suck equally at everything. My subscription to WoW ends in May, if the game doesn't shape up before then I'm thinking of ending that subscription and giving my money to games like ESO, seems like it'd be more fun than WoW has been recently
Funny that you would say that. I've never played any MMO where classes felt that lackluster, uninspired and uninteresting as in ESO. One reason is that half of your skill bar is filled up with weapon skills that all classes can use. The other reason is that you have tons of micro buffs with every class that you have to take and continuosly press. Skill that don't do much other than heal you for a short period, give you attack speed/dmg for a short period of time etc. And trhen you have maybe 1-2 skill that your class comes with and that do something. But even then they're not really unique. ESO also lacks unique class mechanics and systems, like shapeshifting druids in WoW, Shroud Necromancers, Clone Mesmers etc. And all these "flavor" spells of classes like in WoW, soulstone, sheep, double jump and gliding, blink, levitate etc etc. Take these lackluster classes, take all the short term buffs you have to maintain, pair it with non impactful combat animation and bad/stiff animations in general and you have already one big reason why ppl don't play this game.
@@MyN0N4M3 really? I haven't played an Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind so anything I know about ESO is from vids like this one, which make it seem pretty damn fun and interesting. Pity it doesn't have some sort of free to play or trial period so I can't find out first hand for myself. Suppose that's another negative for it...
@@MyN0N4M3 - so in translation- no easy button blow up skills, you have to think more than button mash and.....not enough pretties. Got it. Sorry I got rid of WoW at Panda stage. It was all rinse and repeat. Once you start realizing that every thing in every patch is just a reskin of an asset then it loses it's charm quickly. I've been searching for another MMO-RPG and this one isn't top of list but I haven't shelved it either. I am still needing something with character and humor and for the oh so important..... NO HUNTING THE INTERNET FOR HOW TO'S BECAUSE GAME HAS HUGE GAP IN PLAYABILITY. Sorry . Huge pet peeve. I want to play the game. Not go on a scavenger hunt online outside of the game because of bad design or obscure mentioning of something. WoW had some moments where (due to min/maxers) you had to research stuff, which was a negative for me. But, in the early days it had humor and charm and story. Now notta. ESO lacks humor- so far. As big as the world is, unless you come with friends there is a lot of dead time.
MyN0N4M3 you are right and wrong about many things, Your issue about the class skills is your issue, not the games, if you choose to use multiple weapon ability’s than that’s on you, not the game. I fail to see how having the minor and major buff system makes the classes uninteresting or uninspired, if anything it makes it more interesting and harder to play, each class has a few major and 1 minor buff that you have to micro manage and keep up 100% of the time. Each class has very unique abilities, play styles and themes, one look at Literally any class will show you this. You can easily kit out your class with only unique class abilities and still be a viable build. Yes, eso does lack abilities such as shape shifting for classes, however there is no exact way to play a class, as nixxiom stated with the character customisation you can build and play your class how ever you want, there is hundreds of different ways to play each class due to the way gear set pieces work, most of which are completely different, and even more in pvp. All these flavour spells aren’t in the game but the game makes up for it by allowing you to create your own class. And non impactful animations? Wows animations are less impactful than esos, again I don’t know how you can play the game and think the animations are not impactful and the animations have been reworked years ago, it’s almost as if you played the game for a week in 2014
I finally started playing a couple weeks ago and I’m quite content and happy, this is one addicting game. I sit through every single conversation and read every single book (quest wise) I’m loving it. 40 hours of play time so far has felt like nothing
I ended my WoW sub 2 months ago and picked up ESO 2 weeks ago, I'm loving it to bits. It has it's problems, like every game but every time I stumbled upon one of those problems I just think "At least it's not as bad as WoW." One side quest in ESO has more story behind it than an entire WoW expansion, the dungeons are fun, Cyrodiil PvP is damn awesome. The graphics are great and there's people in every zone, city and town. The world is lively in ESO and for me, who played WoW, gets shocked to see 5-6 people doing the same quest as you in a non-DLC area. The amount of people that you see in the world feels like launch day for a new WoW expansion, it is never too early or too late in the day to find a group of people for various activites around Tamriel. This game is 100% worth it, and you don't have to sub. If you do sub then you get a few benifits like free DLCs and a seperate bag with unlimited mat space and crowns to use in the crown store.
This is so true. I bought the game for $21 a while ago and so far I have 600+ hours into it without buying a single DLC. Most of the DLC perks you get for free if you visit a guild hall that has all the faculties and DLC crafting set stations.
Part of the reason is because of a single server for everyone. It really does help with population. And the population is also pretty awesome for the most part. You have your asshats but they aren't nearly as prevalent as they were in WoW. Plus, people can play this on console if they wish, but note: console populations can't play with PC nor each other. XBOX is alone, PS is alone, and PC is alone.
Love to see the lively world. Not something you see in wow these days. Ran around gathering materials, felt like vanilla wow, you actully met and interracted with people!
Nice to see another WoW transplant. Yes, in 2019 ESO is the place to play. This game has come along way and it's in a fantasic place with robust content
@@VDA19 fucking tell me about it man sooooo boring also that guy i think ill let that guy keep his "robust" ness i think but dont spend all your robust points in one place my guy.
i personally got bored first but once you reach level 15+ (so you can equip 2 different weapons set and vary your skillset) it gets way better and vigorous with the gameplay and this is one of if not THE best lore i have ever seen in a MMORPG
I love the freedom in ESO. It's a game that feels rewarding to play the way you want to play. Customizing your character, questing, crafting, decorating your house, exploring, or even just little decisions like whether or not to play in first person, make me feel like I'm at "home" in the virtual world they've created.
@@AlexGR321 because I am done with BFA, I loved WoW but not playing the bad game it has become and not paying $15 just to play bgs which was the only excited thing I was doing.
FYI, grinding CP is not that painful as it is said in the video. Because: 1- There is a curve mechanic that allows low CP level players to gain CPs much faster than a high CP level player. And it's a big fat boost. It starts diminishing at around 400 cp. 2- There is the Enlightment system (rested exp mechanic) that basicly gives extra boost based on how many days you didn't log in to your account. (up to 12 days) 3- On top of these, there are many ways one can add extra % bonus to exp gained from all actions. a) Such as Training gear (8% per gear piece, and there are 8 gear slots so you basically get 64% bonus exp if you craft full training gear). b) Exp Scrolls (50%, 100%, 150% doesnt stack with one another), Eso Plus subscription (10%), Being in a group (10%), Marriage (10%). c) Events in special days (free-play weeks, anniversaries, new year/halloween/easter etc..) 200%. All of these stack with another.
...and when you hit what, 160 CP or was it 150 CP, you basically can start focus on putting together endgame gear sets, because item levels arent getting higher from that level. So you wont be doing dungeons to get those CP points, rather you do them to get monster helmet/shoulder items and the CP becomes like bonus.
Cookie Holic yea but usually with each new dlc update the gear you had previous might not be as good compared to new gear sets... and to do trials or actually be able to fight against other players you need at least 400-500 cp
JonB yea I know but besides battlegrounds you will hardly find anyone in non vet pvp unless someone is going for easy emp since those campaigns are usually dead
Finally a good TH-camr that doesn’t ask for likes and subs directly after the intro or whatever. I love this video, it will definetly convince people to give the game another shot and I personally think that this game deserves that. As you said the game had a terrible start and I was a huge Elder Scrolls fanboy so I was dissapointed as hell but then I saw these kind of videos being recommended so I started to watch one of those. I started playing and now I don’t want to play anything else, I want to build my character to something amazing and the fun part is that you can have an unlimited amount of combinations. To all the people that read my comment and you are looking for a reason to give this game a second chance just like I was. It is worth it!
Played WoW for 6 -7 years and I have played ESO since Beta in 2014 and without a doubt as much as I loved WoW...ESO is on another level. You are right in saying when ESO launched it was a bad launch we on PC all joked that we were the Beta testers for at least 18 months :D. The improvements to this now vast game is immense. I still have my breaks but I now find myself subbing for another 6 months (best way to do it imho less than £7 per month and you get Crowns worth more than that for each month) . Like any game it still has its bugs and yes in PvP there can be lag when massive grps converge on keeps etc but I still keep playing . If you love questing and crafting etc you will love it and the PvP is still the best I have played ( Nothing better than defending one of your keeps for and hr against 2 other factions breaking the wall down and the main gate at the same time) Play it
This is the first video I've ever seen from you. Instant sub. Great content my dude, puts in both sides, injects humour, making the in game character act out what's being said cinched it for me.
Just want to give you a support comment and say that I freaking love your videos and you should continue with them ! And next, yes, please, make more ESO vids if you like the game. I joined the game again and returned to it because it's just immersive. The crafting is actually nice to level because you can make your own new gear when you need it (or when that damn dungeon doesn't drop those freaking legs so you can change your lvl20 ones on your lvl40 char). Anyway, continue with the good work, make more ESO vids and I hope I'll see you ingame and maybe go on an adventure together.
I like the game a lot, played it since launch, but I am not a "serious" player :) I just enjoy the vast world, questing and crafting... not into pvp at all :) Good video though...
I'm thinking of starting this game, I love skyrim and especially oblivion. How good is this game in solo mode? Can you even play solo? I love exploring/questing and having a house and upgrading it. Can you also play it without spending real money?
@@geoffprince2258 Yes - bought it it for $10 on steam, play solo, they gave me a free house. some quests are easier with more people, but usually there a some running the same mine or whatever so that works out. afaik you do noot need to spend mroe money, although probably someday I will want expansion packs for new areas, but I'm sitll in the first area and have lots of quests and craft skills to go. People seem very nice most of the time.
I'm the same way. I pretty much only do quests, and there are so many to do I may never run out (especially if I keep buying the expansions). I do a random dungeon every now and then (those can be fun when you just wanna fight) but questing is my jam.
That's what has really made me interested in picking up the game now, aside from all the praise that it's gotten from it's changes over the years. Haven't played since the beta and have been drifting from one mmo space to another.
God no. That guy is super annoying, and I'll probably avoid Nix like the plague if he does. I get he's doing a character, but that character is far too much, and I've given him many chances. It's his WWE voice, mostly.
You forgot about the armor sets system, I think its what makes this game really interesting because of all the different combination of builds you can do.
Please do not get conned by Nixxiom. The negatives outweigh the positives and this game is trash. th-cam.com/video/Ov3B26h12C4/w-d-xo.html Do not get conned by this guy and do not get tricked into buying this game!
I've been playing since console launch (PS4). I'm glad you like it. I missed some of the mess that was the PC launch, but it was still pretty rough on console. That said, the game has improved dramatically and I really enjoy it. Good to see a solid review from a returning player.
Love this game. i am more of a "stick to the classic" type of gamer, where I play a plate warrior, light armor sorcerer, etc. My brother on the other hand said: I'm gonna play a lightning blasting two hander wielding sorcerer with medium armor. Me: That won't work. Him: Yes it will. Conclusion: it did. Nothing amazing dps-wise, but he had a ton of fun, and we was doing OK too. It's just a game people, play whatever makes you happy, and forget about DPS-meters and best builds. ESO definitely gives you this option. Cheers!
@@kurisu1204 Not saying it isn't, rather it's unusual. When you say mage, you think staff/wand, light armor/robe, and maybe a pipe, but not plate with 2h sword :D
I had one key problem when i started playing this in 2017 and let me get one thing straight, i played a few mmo's but not to end game most of the time, the one i did tho was D&D online (which i fell in love with! its pretty damn easy tho) it is that which you said is a plus, the fact you can create whatever the hell you want. So i queu up for a dungeon either damagedealer or tank and i get rolled damage dealer, so i equip my 2 handed items and i see our tank is using this weird build of heavy armor and bow, i asked him what the hell is that build and he answered with the simple response of : "I once was an adventurer like you, but now i'm a city gaurd!" and i was like "well then... there goes our dungeon experience!" esspecially because the rest of the dungeon squad was a mage that used a healing staff for dps (for real..) and we had a regular archer hunter type of thing with a heal staff (hunter, which in eso is just garbage) I felt like it could be a challenge to complete it so i decided to just run allong and go on with it. the dungeon went pretty damn slow but in the end we got everything done until they kicked me out of the group , when i asked what about my loot they said, your a noob because you run with regular sets... Other things might include the fact it is obligatory to acctually research and craft , even tho it's about 20 minutes to do so i got obligated to acctually do the crafting and researching which im really not into, see i like the fact the most strong items you can get are drops (which in morrowind was the thing, all the overpowered shit were drops instead of your own creations) and to acctually optimise your itemset you needed to craft certain items. Leveling is kinda tedious and I still feel like this game has more potential, i like the quest lines , i'd even say i love m! the fact you finally can see and talk to Queen Ayrenn and fight for the Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion is such a plus in my book, I played every other TES game and I never liked the fact you can't choose to be either on the side of good or evil, yet you make certain decisions (like kill paathrunax or keep m alive) which still inflict serious trouble in Tamriel. The choice to either go stormclock or empire is also a good example of that, but i never felt like i could choose between good or evil, which i feel i can deffo do in this one. Considering most people in the elder scrolls community see the Aldmeri as a bunch of evil doers makes me feel like I finally can choose that part of the lore and fight for the evil side, somewhat like that Fable game where you either choose to not kill humans or you did, it had a certain outcome but still doesnt change the base game here. The game is mostly the best PVP MMO i have ever seen, tho the extreme OP classes and builds that are possible, I had a shit load of fun in PVP but PVE was to much of a joke for me personally.
I'm just a 3 days old ESO player. I have been waiting to play this game for so long but I didn't have a gaming computer. Now I finally get my hands on MSI GP63 9rd, ESO is the first game I installed and I really love it.
@@calus_bath_water for fanbois like you todd can do no wrong and no matter how bad of a release comes out you will buy it and all its DLCs etc. Kinda pointless talkin to anyone like that. Bethseda and its games as a whole are gone. I haven't played this game since it's Beta. After watching this video, I feel the need to give it another go. I think the regular version is currently on sale too. 🙂
Hey, just wanted to say thank you! because of your "Review" i finnaly decided to buy the game, and im having so much fun :D (Thb im barely progressing in the story because i get distracted by EVERYTHING (Mostly fishing spots :)) but thats good!) Pretty exited where my journey will take me :D
Gotta say thanks. After watching these videos I thought I'd give it another try. Little overwhelming with the amount of freedom but I'm loving it. Especially the crafting and customization. Played it during a free weekend and didn't really care to much for it. But now I'm hooked. Don't know whether I should hate you or love you for that. So I'll just say thanks.
This may sound weird but I love the fact that a player can get insanely strong to the point that you might need 20 other (normal) players to kill them. It gives you something to shoot for, and really makes you feel like a badass hero like you could in old school MMOs while still having a lot of the great QOL improvements that come from 20+ years of the genre improving.
Great video. Really sums up exactly how I feel about ESO, having just started playing it again too. Like you I played it at launch and even though Skyrim is probably my favorite game of all time I just couldn’t stick with ESO at launch. It was so bad. It’s like when I watched The Phantom Menace for the third time and finally admitted it was a steaming pile of crap. Anyway, ESO is so much fun now. I love it. Keep up the good work.
Another thing, for the most part everyone in the eso community is very nice and welcoming and always happy to help. Especially towards new players, there was a period of time where there wasn't many people coming and staying in the world of Tamriel and this is changing and its so nice for vet players to see new people joining the journey and experiencing it for what it really is :)
Great video, the information you presented was helpful. I’ve decided to pick up ESO on Steam which is currently having a sale, after watching your video.

@@LukeB2203 well he is new to the game and maybe just was misinformed he will get it. we have all said things then later found out we where wrong or partially wrong.
Its so funny to See that. Im Playing Eso for two Years…and im often really pissed Off because there are so many bugs. Bugs Players who are new to the Game won t notice. Stuff like getting you re Tank stuck in a Wall trying a Speed run. And than i See this Video an im like: Oh oh you don t have this in other mmos? Oh are there really no…? Oh thats only a elder scroll Thing? It really gets you down to earth again.
Yes, most ESO players help each other. Last week I wanted to run a vet dungeon for a monster set head piece I needed and I typed it in the zone chat and within 10 minutes a guy helped me set up a group and we ran it!
I am new in ESO and I was looking for positive and honest reviews about ESO and if it worth it for me buying it and playing and your TH-cam video was the first one I watch and It was really helpful.
@Derek Murray hi and to answer your question I have never played an mmo before this game just looks so good and I would like to give it a go but don't want to be dissapointed.
@@emmar6810 It's a good game. Don't expect multiplayer Skyrim, and you'll get plenty out of it. Being the size it is, storytelling is much more linear and you get less choice, most dialogue actually gives you only one option to respond with. On the flipside, it's a fantasy world that feels alive. You can take your character down any path you feel like, and character building is much more unrestrained than most MMOs, with classes really only determining which 3 starting skill lines you get. If you REALLY wanted, you could make a nightblade (ESO's version of a rogue) and dress them in full heavy armour with a huge battle axe, or you could build a bow weilding archery sorceror. Weird stuff like that. Of course, the world is set in the TES universe, so as a Skyrim fan, you'll find some things familiar, and others a delightfully fresh experience.
its prolly gonna get buried in the comment section and someone prolly did say it already, but nixxiom, that tankiness issue in pvp stops being as annoying when you play no cp pvp zones(which is very accesible if any non eso players wonder, every pvp content has a no cp version that has a healthy population). champion points really make a noticable power gap between you and the people who maxed it. oh and, to explain the champion point system, it would be a lot easier if you just said that champion points are account wide, not character wide.
Thanks for taking the time to review our baby! Only 1 thing I would add as a con would be that PvP is all fine when you're a lower level or playing in non-cp campaigns, but once you start getting into the main CP campaigns you'll see a lot of ball groups (30 players communicating on discord) who literally don't die, and these groups create a shitload of lag for the server to the point that nobody can use skills or anything. And then the ball groups just sweep in and take the keeps while everyone is lagging
Very thoughtful and well detailed review. This explained everything that I wanted to hear explained! I am looking forward to tapping into this game soon. Thanks for the vid Nixxiom :)
You sound like me. Played WoW since Vanilla. Had some major complaints about WOW, mainly revolving around lack of character customization, professions being meaningless, no exploration. I left in late December and joined ESO to see if it would make a good replacement. Surprisingly, all my biggest gripes about WoW were fixed in ESO, and I love the character customization. Even though some people have discovered some OP builds, the character customization is still so powerful that many more OP builds have probably yet to be discovered. The only thing I really miss about WoW is the lightheartedness and sense of humor throughout the game. You don't really get that in ESO. ESO is very serious. My favorite quest in WoW is the one with Corporal Keeshan called, "AHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Hilarious!
Nice to see that the game is doing well by now. I was there when it was teased and I bought it on launch and jumped right into it. As a long time fan of the franchise I was so dissapointed by the game. The bugs, glitches, the pvp and many quests not working or being the standard "get me 10 bear arses" made the game so un-enjoable. Only time I enjoyed was when I played a battlemage going in with two swords/axes and aoe spells into crowds of mobs. Man that was fun. But the way how the game was set up at launch with the upfront price, a shop at day one with content that should be in the base game, locked behind a paywall. So good that its doing great. A shame that now I only have a laptop with too little specifications to play the game now that it is in a playable version. Thanks for the good video Nixxiom!
another Pro (and the big one for me) is: this game is great for an mmo, but it looks fantastic for single player content! most of mmos has a grindy and unrewarded leveling, but in ESO you can live the world as you please adn be rewarded for it! I'm lvl 50 with CP 400 and never made a "raid" or something! I'm still doing the quests, wich most of them are so interesting and fun!
Yep, the best content in ESO is its quests. There's no other MMO with such a that good questing. WoW, GW2, FF14, and any Free2Play MMO out there - they really lose the battle when it comes to quests.
this is how I kinda play ESO too .. Basically the same way I play any other elder scrolls game I run around and explore and do quests and read the books and shit like that. I hardly do any of the actual multiplayer content lol although I'm getting more into that part of the game recently.,
Good review, pretty fair. Levelling is a grind but there are so many ways to speed it up. Training armour, Xp scrolls, Xp potions. Events that give doubt xp though out the year. As you get more and more experienced you will find yourself getting more and more buffed etc as end game content is really challenging, but the rewards are very rare/special such as silver skins, exclusive titles etc. While having you fun builds ie my ice wizards not as high damage as some build but great at surviving and good area damage. While my crafter is a thief that can go round stealing all day as well.
been thinking about picking it up again, please more videos this was great :) maybe a video explaining the crafting as i cannot get my head round it, thanks xD
Your first pro for this game, IMO, should of been the combat system. No other top level MMORPG does combat as well as ESO. It's literally the only MMORPG I can play for more than a week without getting bored. Stamina management, roll dodges, blocks, no tab targeting. It's like WoW with better graphics and fun.
The most important thing about an MMO to me is that it feels rewarding to play with other people. That the PvE isn't exactly hard, but still offers enough of a challenge that you're encouraged to group up with other people, without that in turn making everything so easy that the biggest difficulty becomes making sure you have a reason to not disband the party and go do separate zones in less time than it takes to customize a new character. And that the game actually acknowledges the existence of other players to some extent. I don't like it when the narrative treat me like I singlehandedly did everything that require at least 20 people to accomplish and that all the other players might as well not exist at all (which has been my biggest gripe with WoW for the last 2-3 expansions before BfA). I don't need the game to mention everyone else by name, but when a narrative treats me like I alone entered a dragon's lair and I alone challenged the fearsome beast and I alone bested it in heroic combat and I alone am worthy of the unique title given only to the one and only person worthy of recognition, it ends up feeling like the game is telling me that I am alone, that I have no friends and the 5 to 19 other people are just figments of my imagination. It's not a problem in Morrowind or Oblivion or Skyrim, because there it makes sense for me to be a hero of prophecy, but doesn't feel right in an MMO. How's ESO on that part?
From what I remember of the instanced main story line, you are part of a band of legends. It doesn't reference other players really, just you and the main npc characters. The overworld is a different story though as it's setup so that your meant to roam around and find groups. Some of the activities can only be done by groups. If you manage to make it to level cap you get access to another zone called Craglorn which seems to offer much more public group content. The lore related bits don't seem to reference other player characters though.
world pve is real ez u can solo world bosses with a competently made character not even an op one and u will be the lone hero of legend nothing can be done unless ur greatness is around and everyone will hail ur name to no end with u feeling like u havnt really earned it but the pvp is really fun but u will see the same builds over and over again
Dungeons aknowledge that you're grouping with people most of times. Like, dungeons are almost considered to be "group missions", not "personal quests".
Thanks! I just started...I have a Mag DragonKnight and a Mag Sorcerer and I'm trying to figure out which I like better to continue with. DK gives me that "Battlemage" feel but Sorc has such cool lightning and pets. I'm really enjoying the lore and quests, though, as someone who doesn't normally play MMOs. :)
Back on release, there was a legendary vampire build that with Emperor buff, becoming Emperor essentially led to said PC becoming near immortal, taking entire PVP trains to even come close to taking down.
so you are telling me that in order to get champion points i need to play the game! Thats cool. Also sometimes the grind helps you discover more quest's tho.
Thoroughly disappointed that he didn't cover how much control you have over crafting armor/weapons. Nothing about style, traits, enchants, set bonuses. This is still one of the draws for the game to me.
I was going to quit this game after playing it for one day (today) but your video popped up in my feed and convinced me to give it more of a try. The pvp and higher level content looks interesting, and you helped me put the fact that any class can fill any role into perspective. I kinda want to be a 2H sword heavy armor summoning mage :P; I'll see what's what with that. Thanks Nixxiom.
Wonderful video Nixx. The only inaccuracy I noticed was the part about leveling CP on alts though. I don't believe this is possible...? You can spend your CP for use on low-level alts, correct, but your alts do NOT start gaining CP for use until they also hit level 50. Just a quick tid bit I wanted to point out.
AnT 6 it's good, but that's debatable. The game balance is atrocious, and the community is one of the worst in MMORPGs. New players asking questions get straight up trolled, and sometimes bullied. If you call out people doing it you get a coms ban. Literally stood up for a new player had a 48 hour coms ban the next day.
Meh, if you want to matter on endgame runs you choose either a max magicka or stamina build coupled with a very limited selection of armor sets to choose. The only thing that makes this game interesting are the cp points and pvp, they need more armor sets to really take full advantage of the CP system. Unfortunately unless you are running the latest meta build then your class is obsolete in most end game content, this strategy is done on purpose to force players to buy the latest expansions if they want to stay relevant. I played for a while because I wanted to like this game, but hardly seems fun when it takes %1000 more effort to use a fully specced lightning sorc build compared to a poorly optimized and lazy pet build in endgame PVE. PVP is pretty fun though since you don't need to sustain maximum damage for minutes at a time to be useful, combat is fast paced and can favour situational skill builds.
They need more armour sets? So far by my counting u have 50+ light 50+ med and 50+ heavy armour sets, then u have monster sets, and certain weapons like master vma or asylum weapons
@@HiHelloHi so, like in other mmo's? for example, wow have 1-2 end game set for each role, teso have at least 5-10 meta sets, exclusive of 50-70 sets for each role.
@@HiHelloHi It's always going to be like that, though. Meta is dictated by what is the most effective it what it intends on doing, so the only way to have many meta sets is to water everything down and have everything be as effective as everything else. Doing so would definitely allow players to choose any set and be great at their role, but at best it severely diminishes gear progression, and at worst completely removes it. If you want gear progression, you will need a handful of sets that are more effective than the other sets, which brings us right back to the meta being only a handful of sets. The current approach ESO takes to sets works pretty damn well, in my opinion. Yep, there's a lot of sets that are pretty much useless, but there's also a lot of underrated sets that actually work pretty damn well if you build around them and use them correctly, especially in PVP. A lot of the better working PVP builds, the builds you wouldn't hear about because they work so damn well, are pretty unique in the sets they use.
@@McYeroc that is divided between several classes. only 2 or 3 builds per class are any good for late game content. just because you can equip stuff from another class doesn't mean you should. the monster armor is so unbalanced that everyone runs almost the same thing or else they would barely contribute end game. I had just started playing late game content and was being kicked because I wasn't running the best armor setup, even though I had almost perfect rotation control. the meta builds in that game are some of the only viable sets. I have also been kicked because I ran a lightning sorc and not a pet sorc.
So glad to see you playing ESO! I left wow just weeks before the launch of BfA to give ESO another chance and am so glad I did. ESO is by FAR the vastly superior game. You might want to add more about the perks for casual, like the daily reward system and things like the experience scrolls or how little is character bound allowing you to save old gear in your bank for alts or such. You might also want to do a video dedicated just to the crafting... things like the set tables found in the world, how you can upgrade anything all the way up to legendary, the different traits and how you research them. If you really want to power level, make all your gear with the training trait and then use experience scrolls and then keep that gear set in your bank for alts. If you really like crafting, you might want to check out the addon "Craftstore" as it's really handy for keeping track of your research timers and what triats you have researched on what characters or what you have in the bank that can be researched etc.

Thank you Nixxiom! I purchased ESO when it first came out played it a fair amount and just wasn't feeling it. I've gotten burnt out on WOW lately and was already considering giving ESO another whirl. Now I definitely will!
Such a great game! i personally love it so much, PvE is more my thing, with dungeons and trials. if you get into the game and feel confused you can look up builds, popular ones being by Alcast. That can help you start creating the character you want to play class/abilities wise. and then customize with your own decisions.

Do you even play ESO? Cause the time line where you said the golden age haha geez man you really are wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can anyone call those "Expansions". They're way too small for that.

Wows animations are less impactful than esos, again I don’t know how you can play the game and think the animations are not impactful and the animations have been reworked years ago, it’s almost as if you played the game for a week in 2014
There is many of us old wow players feeling the collective funk.. I started today on eso being a noob that's excited is great.
XBOX is alone, PS is alone, and PC is alone.
agreed! ended wow sub 8 month ago, plying since 2006
Love to see the lively world. Not something you see in wow these days. Ran around gathering materials, felt like vanilla wow, you actully met and interracted with people!

FYI, grinding CP is not that painful as it is said in the video. Because:
1- There is a curve mechanic that allows low CP level players to gain CPs much faster than a high CP level player. And it's a big fat boost. It starts diminishing at around 400 cp.
2- There is the Enlightment system (rested exp mechanic) that basicly gives extra boost based on how many days you didn't log in to your account. (up to 12 days)
3- On top of these, there are many ways one can add extra % bonus to exp gained from all actions.
a) Such as Training gear (8% per gear piece, and there are 8 gear slots so you basically get 64% bonus exp if you craft full training gear).
b) Exp Scrolls (50%, 100%, 150% doesnt stack with one another), Eso Plus subscription (10%), Being in a group (10%), Marriage (10%).
c) Events in special days (free-play weeks, anniversaries, new year/halloween/easter etc..) 200%.
Upgraded to legendary its 11% per piece for 77% total
Cookie Holic yea but usually with each new dlc update the gear you had previous might not be as good compared to new gear sets... and to do trials or actually be able to fight against other players you need at least 400-500 cp

I like the first person mode since I’m originally from the Skyrim pack
Dammit Nix! You're making me want to get in on this! Lol

Hey, just wanted to say thank you!
because of your "Review" i finnaly decided to buy the game, and im having so much fun :D

@@Verienn Yeah and the amount of furniture i got through fishing is INSANE! i got like 3 purple things!!!
There is a montage of players in cyrodiil after they got crowned emperor taking on 30+ players and it's pretty fun to watch.
I love this game personally. So I hope you keep playing.
Squidiot lmfao
Another thing, for the most part everyone in the eso community is very nice and welcoming and always happy to help. Especially towards new players, there was a period of time where there wasn't many people coming and staying in the world of Tamriel and this is changing and its so nice for vet players to see new people joining the journey and experiencing it for what it really is :)
Great video, the information you presented was helpful. I’ve decided to pick up ESO on Steam which is currently having a sale, after watching your video.
its downloading right now on my pc, so excited to play!!

Straw man comment really
Its so funny to See that. Im Playing Eso for two Years…and im often really pissed Off because there are so many bugs. Bugs Players who are new to the Game won t notice. Stuff like getting you re Tank stuck in a Wall trying a Speed run.
And than i See this Video an im like: Oh oh you don t have this in other mmos? Oh are there really no…? Oh thats only a elder scroll Thing?
It really gets you down to earth again.
You should mention how awesome the community is in ESO as well. I see that as a major plus.
Yes, most ESO players help each other. Last week I wanted to run a vet dungeon for a monster set head piece I needed and I typed it in the zone chat and within 10 minutes a guy helped me set up a group and we ran it!
Yeah when I first started playing, someone gave me enough money to buy a horse and they invited me to their guild
I am new in ESO and I was looking for positive and honest reviews about ESO and if it worth it for me buying it and playing and your TH-cam video was the first one I watch and It was really helpful.
Thanks for the video mate! Really informative, gave me a lot of insight since I’ve been on the edge for a long time.
Just got it and love it but I wish it was a bit more accessible and it’s a bit confusing for someone new
I have never played online before but I am considering it after watching this also I am a huge skyrim fan
@@VeraTheTabbynx thanks for the information I will keep what you have told me in mind 👍
its prolly gonna get buried in the comment section and someone prolly did say it already, but nixxiom, that tankiness issue in pvp stops being as annoying when you play no cp pvp zones(which is very accesible if any non eso players wonder, every pvp content has a no cp version that has a healthy population). champion points really make a noticable power gap between you and the people who maxed it.
oh and, to explain the champion point system, it would be a lot easier if you just said that champion points are account wide, not character wide.
That is true. I do prefer Sotha Sil campaign over Vivec. Sure I don't get infinite sprint on my horse but the fights are more realistic.
Zecleria healthy population lol no it doesn’t I rarely see any faction even have 1 bar on PS4
@@NFLBlitz214 guess ps4 players need to git gud then. it is very much healthy on pc.
I almost didn’t read your comment because I thought you were going to say you’re selling potatoes.
No cp battlegrounds and main pvp map is where it's at. Really separates the boys from the men in terms of resource management.
Thanks for the good video Nixxiom!
another Pro (and the big one for me) is:
this game is great for an mmo, but it looks fantastic for single player content!
most of mmos has a grindy and unrewarded leveling, but in ESO you can live the world as you please adn be rewarded for it!
Stamblade is the real way to go
My girlfriend is playing mag sorc she loves it the most its the easiest class and pets help out alot
Yes! More ESO vids please!
For the ebonheart pact!
Wrong, for the covenant!
Blood for the pact!
Just pointing out that your new harcut looks pretty good man, suits you well
I hope Classic wow inspires you to create more machinimas.

Love. I played a lot but haven’t been back since like September. This is bringing me back.
Thank you for this video! I have been on hiatus long enough and am back playing ESO! Memories defeating Molag and venturing around Tamriel are gold.
ESO is simply the best MMORPG. That’s all 🤷🏻♂️
Western* MMORPG. Maybe. Far from the best MMO overall, though.
skyesfury what would you consider to be the best mmo? I would love to try it out
@@eshock753 I would rank FFXIV far above ESO.
I play ESO but I would say Black Desert and maybe Blade & Soul is better
@@McYeroc that's not what he means. The Meta sets for endgame dps/healing/tanking is limited to a few sets for Stam/mag.

Was thinking about picking up ESO for the first time. Shared your video on my discord.
