So I was watching Amazing Spiderman 2 the other day with my 8 year old cousin Jack. When the movie ended, I noticed Jack was teary eyed. Assuming he was sad that Gwen died, I reassured him that it was ok, since the actress playing Gwen was ok in real life. It turns out, he wasn't crying about Gwen, but Electro. I was kind of surprised. He kept reapeating "Why did Max die?", "He didn't want to be mean, mean stuff had to him", and "It was his birthday." Personally, Electro isn't the strongest, per say, of movie villains, but if he can get that kind of a reaction out of someone, I'll say someone in SONY did something right.

*5:39** That beat is what makes the soundtrack so badass. It's as if Electro is at the height of his rage and brutally attacks everyone around him out of pure rage.*
reychew energy cant and so does electricity as it's form of energy.I also think that electro will be part of an upcoming movie called the insidious six.
Han zimmer is amazing, and so was the movie. But when he said his name for the first time it was incredibly cheesy... "Don't you know who I am!" "No" "I'm electro!!"
Honestly I found this film very enjoyable. As a person who did not like the last one at all, this new one fixed all the problems I had with its predecessor. Spider-man is actually spider-man. He’s talking smack to bad guys, he’s being funny, he is very likable, and for the majority of time while he’s in the Spider suit he keeps the MASK ON!! I have to say that Garfield gives a great performance this time around and to me he really felt like he was channeling the 1994 and spectacular spider-man cartoon interpretations of the web head. Also for the fellow spider-man comic book readers, there is a scene in here taken straight from the comic books and MY GOD it is so powerful and nerve-racking, you’ll know when you get to it if you’ve read em. The soundtrack for this film was also great. My only gripes with the film are its runtime and the addition of Rhino. Some parts could really be shaved down and Rhino really could have been left out or just added as a stinger. Speaking of Stingers this one was just…..I really felt the projectionist was having a giggle while showing it cause me and my friends just gave the biggest WTF. If this film was a bit shorter I’d give it a full price but right now I have to say I give it a solid Matinee.
The movie was weak in a lot of areas, but I liked Electro's scenes, the way he would appear was nicely done and his theme was pretty much the best music in the whole film since it fit quite well to how paranoid Max was due to being so undervalued and looked down on by so many in his life. The movie as a whole though could have been a lot better, the same mistakes from Spider Man 3 were made all over again with having far too many villains and little development time for them with only Electro really having the most development time.
The problem was that other villains were shoe horned in with little to no development, Venom/Brock for example was pretty sudden, Harry becoming the new Goblin was almost a 'Blink and you miss it' part of the film due to how quickly it happened. If they had just had the Sandman in the third movie and Electro in this movie then there would have been less of a feeling of things being stuffed into the movie just for the sake of it.
Too many villains in this one?? what are you talking about it was electro the whole movie except for when harry gets pissy and becomes a new villain keyword new so yeah thats why he had very little time fighting spidey at the end. and dont even say rihno...cuz well if you saw the movie you'd know.
I saw the movie a couple of days ago, it was alright but it suffered from the same mistakes as the third Spider Man movie, too much going on with little time for full development in areas. The only real development given to a character in both movies were Sandman, who's background was built on and his connection to Parker's past, and Electro's development. Everything else felt like it was just added in for the sake of filler with rushed plot points
It suffered from SOME of the mistakes, but wasn't nearly as bad with them. At least Electro got to be the A villain, while Spider-Man 3 barely let Sandman have a damn scene. The biggest problem with TASM2 is that the guy they cast as Harry is neither likable nor intimidating, so he's not tragic and he's not scary, he's just kind of shitty and annoying. Then they shoehorned him into as many scenes as they could, bogging the movie down, making it too long, distracting from the much better Electro plot, and making the ending go on FOREVER. It tried to be Spider-Man 2, and partially succeeded: you have some of the same themes of Peter trying to make this whole Spider-Man thing work with his normal life, asking whether he really wants this, and then you have Electro as the new really cool tragic villain (much like Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2), but it all broke down with the involvement of Harry Osborn. In Spider-Man 2, Harry's way better because A) he's played as a decent guy struggling through hard times, by the eminently likable James Franco, and B) his involvement in the story feels much more natural because he's directly involved with everything from the beginning. TASM2's Harry just seems like he's going to turn out to be a douchenozzle from the moment we meet him, kind of like Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Now, like Hayden Christensen, this may not actually be the actor's fault; Harry's part is poorly written, and the actor seemed like he was misdirected, which are also what made Anakin such a douche in Star Wars.
"I will cut the light and soon, everyone in this city will know how it feels to live in my world...A world without power...a world without mercy...a world without Spider-Man. They will see me for who I truly am...I'm Electro"
@SharkTank By following your logic, you should "stfu" too, since no one asked about your comment either. Seriously, by following your logic, this whole comment section shouldn't exist, since nobody asked it. Sorry dude, but your logic is a little flawed :/
Neither... Spider-man overloads him resulting in Electro dispersing. He's been shown to be able to reform so he easily will have been able to survive that.
Scarilianvids Plus the next film is supposed to be The Sinister Six, and Electro is pretty much always one of the Six in the group's many incarnations. Though, I'd rather believe this Electro is dead, it just wouldn't work having somebody that powerful running amock along with everybody else.
Kimberley Watson They made Max such a tragic figure in this, and I love that. I was so sad that they wound up killing him, but honestly, how do you imprison a guy who can literally zap his way through power lines? A rubber room's not gonna cut it.

I love how that was handled, you can see Max clearly frightened by what's happening to him & by the people of the city. He's finally being seen by others, all he's ever wanted was to be seen & wanted, but it takes a turn for the worst when everybody is hating him, Max is horrified. Things are made worse when Spider-Man arrives, Max's idol, Spidey doesn't seem to remember him very well but Max is still willing to trust him until an officer interrupts the two and Spider-Man is forced to attack an enraged Max. His sanity has reached it's breaking point, Max is universally hated but Spider-Man is seen as a hero. Then this song shows the shattering of his mind, the whispers of rage & hate warping an already fragile psyche, and just tearing them down piece by piece. Max Dillion is dead but Electro is born. Amazing and I do mean AMAZING execution.
I love how this piece of music represents every emotion that Electro is feeling. The song is so amazing and deep and gives me the shivers! When I saw this scene it nearly made me cry when he knows that Spiderman doesn't remember him and he misunderstands what he is trying to do for him! It's so sad! :(
I was sadder here than when Gwen died. D: I mean he was a nobody, an when he finally became a somebody- his wish over all else- he is hated by the entire city, and his idol attacks him. If that sniper hadn't shot him things might have been so much different. :/ I felt like crying when he finally fell to pieces.
This scene really hit me deep because I, like many others probably, have felt all alone and like I had no one who was on my side and I don't like attention, but sometimes it'd be cool to just be appreciated or seen as a hero for once. I mean Max was all alone in the world and just when he thinks he has someone or something on his side, it's taken from him and he must figure "Hey if I can't get even a little love in the world, I might as well get all the hate. They've hurt me all my life, and now all the pain i've felt is gonna be taken out on everyone but 1,000 times worse." (Not saying I want hate, but this is what I figure that's how most people who are alone and end up shooting and bombing places feel.)
Am i the only person who gets more sad for the villains than the hero? I mean, i can't get that sad for spiderman when gwen died, but i can get easliy sad when i see the whole backstory to electro. It just puts me into a short state of depression because AL OF THE FEELS and ALL OF THE EMPATHY.
Electro is not my favourite villain but he undergoes my favourite villain transformation which is extremely believable with great character development. Also, the schizophrenic villain was quite fresh compared to the sociopathic villain we see quite a lot of. Wonderfully done Marvel! Another amazing villain you've pulled off.
He wasn't exactly like the Electro from the comics. The Electro from the comics was a lineman struck by lightning. But pertaining to he movie, yeah, one of the best transformations. He's a also a villain you can't hate.
Marvel didn't do anything, Sony did - with decades old Marvel comics. I agree the transformation itself is believable with the unknown, intangible powers of electricity but he was way too on the nose. Singing happy birthday to himself in his origin scene? Pretty silly!
Yep. The makeup effects were done by Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger of KNB effects. He's known best for doing zombie work and does all the zombies for Walking Dead.
Did anyone else come to TH-cam looking for the music that would play while Max went about his business? the little jingle that can be heard starting at 1:50 and goes to about 2:25? Really good theme.
So many critics make fun of the rhythmical whispering, but I honestly think it adds so much to the score. It shows Max’s paranoia and confusion over his new powers, and how he’s getting in his own head. It’s great imo
anyone else loved those voices in the background as the scene builds? 'he lied to me, he shot at me, he hate's me, he's using me, afraid of me, he's dead to me, AND NOW HE IS MY ENEMY!'
I loved that. So awesome. At first I was pissed cause I thought someone was playing music. Didn't even occur to me it was the movie. The sound in the theatre was so good I thought the devil was whispering in my ear. Sent goosebumps down my spine. Great soundtrack.
I love all the little subtle elements that combine to make this song fit perfectly. The electric-sounding synth noises, the upbeat and harmless-sounding tune that plays between the whispering-heavy parts, the whispering that describes the dark feelings and paranoid thoughts. It all combines to make the perfect theme for a normal person turned into a paranoid electrically-charged madman.
I haven't seen "Chronicle" where Dane DeHaan also starred, but if he's as convincing as a crazy superpowered young man as he is in "TASM 2," I might have to rent "Chronicle" soon.
The lyrics are: Self destroyer Can't ignore the Paranoia Suffering Suffering Lightning striking Agony inside of me My pulse is racing Mental torture Repeat many times. There you go.
I've got to be the only person who likes the whispering. To me its Electro's auditory hallucinations as his mind breaks and he falls into a state of delirium, especially at 5:00 That's what this entire song is for me, insight into Electro's insanity.
It wasn't a bad movie. It wasn't perfect either. It simply didn't live up to its full potential. To suggest that no thought was put into the plot and characters is a simple fallacy. Newsflash a movie doesn't have to be completely perfect to be good.
Kira Suzuki No, but it should at least seem like it wasn't written by a 12 year old if it wants to be considered good. The movie was so vapid I was rolling my eyes the entire time.
So many things could have been handled better I agree. But I enjoyed Electro's character development. Let us not forget that it was Hans Zimmer who wrote the soundtrack. This song is really ideal for representing the state of Electro's mind (which is a nice subtle change from the usual villain schizophrenia associated with all Spider-Man villains). So if anything this song is one thing done right.
Okay, why is everyone saying they're sad Electro died? Energy can't die. His receptor died, but Electro can always reconstitute himself. Unfortunately for Parker, his energy is still in the power plant's system. In the comics, his rebirth took forever. He'll be back. Edit: lmaoooooooooooooooo
This movie and the previous one were so much better than I expected. They stuck mostly true to the comics and the action was great. And of course, the OST
JohnyTwoTimeable TASM 1 sucks, TASM 2 was alot better but the Spiderman 2 Train scene with doctor octopus is on Par with Electro & Goblin battle, but nothing can beat that Time square event where Electro wreck havoc on everything. also inaccuracy can sometime be better, for example Man of steel, instead of ultra humanite we got General Zod as first enemy & was able to give justice to Zod's characeter
aizenps3 But there are many of us that want to know the true story and the original was good in it's own way but didnt follow the comic's story while TASM did and did a very good job doing so
He lied to me......... He shot at me............... He hates on me................ He lied to me, he shot at me, he hates on me, he's using me, agility, electricity, afraid of me! He's dead to me, he lied to me, he shot at me, he hates on me! He's using me! He's dead to me! That Spider-Man, HE IS MY ENEMY!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.Very fun and exciting to watch! I loved all the characters performances, the soundtrack, and the action scenes were pretty intense. Not the best spider man movie. I could notice some flaws in character development and so on, but if you look past them, it was a great movie. Definitely worth the money.
MegaGrunty FlipYap The anti-climatic ending isn't the thing that disappointed me. It was the overall fight scene between Spidey and Electro in that part where it felt short, they barely touched other just like the first encounter of Spidey and Lizard in the bridge scene of the first one. But boy, Time Square scene was still one of the most epic scene of the film. Electro felt like a god!
I liked it when Electro played Itsey Bitsy Spider for Pete when they were fighting in the coils, but Yeah, this was the best music for the scene... It fit like a glo... actually, it fit like a condom.. ahahahha.. But yeah, when Max was turning this music had you on the edge..
i21meerkat I think so too. Actually, when watching the movie one of the lyrics I could make out was " he lied to me" and "spider-man's my enemy" which came on when electro decided to attack Spidy. So it's not crazy to think the lyrics are his train of thought.
This is what happens when the greatest composer of all time meets the greatest music producer of all time. Even the best composer can get even better by collaborating with Pharrell
@SpooderMan Fragility • The act of being fragile or easily broken. It makes more sense seeing as, in the state Max was in, especially before he became Electro, he was very emotionally fragile and wanted to snap at every chance he got. And also, virginity just, sorta kills the mood.
vGWanteDz Someone didn't bother watching captain america last month huh? ASM2 was... Okay. not as bad as reviewers and other people say. It definitely isn't good though. It couldn't decide what it was trying to do or what it was trying to say. Though yes: Electro's theme is really good.
Electro was a freakin beast. this dude literallly be came electricity. I saw that movie twice it was so good. i saw it a second time jus for the music.
Many villains aren't villains because they are evil, they are either rejected by society and hold a grudge, or just have different, unpopular views that society doesn't agree with even if they have those views for the right reason, kind of like an end justifies the mean kind of mentality.
Havoc101c I don't know what you're talking about the beast for, but if it references the bad ending, it won't happen. The good ending is the only cannon one.
pillowsack powerranger Yes it's a thing, it's not been officially announced yet but it's on Avi Arad's list of productions, including Uncharted and the Metal Gear Solid movie which was officially announced.
These were my favorite parts of the movie. I loved all of Electros schizophrenia scenes. I love how they incorporate the voices in his head with the score.
Electro was, arguably, the best thing about this movie. He, above all others (with the exception of Gwen), had the most character-development and sympathetic background. I was surprised, because Electro's not one of my favorite villains and Jamie Foxx not one of my favorite actors, but I was completely blown away by his portrayal. I actually felt more sad with his death (maybe he didn't die, but Spider-Man still meant to kill him) than Gwen's.
Legendary Spider-Man I do, but Jamie Foxx was the only one that actually gave a shit about what he was doing. When I say Electro was the best, I'm not saying much.
Frankly I thought that Electro was the biggest problem in the movie.. Having a sympathetic background and being a very effective nemesis for the hero are 2 very different things.. And Electro completely lacked the latter.. I've seen villains that can be very sympathetic and quite effective both at the same time, and trust me, Electro is nowhere close to that description
Tom Portengen Nah, Garfield and Stone felt like they were just reading off the script (honestly, some of their dialogue feels really forced), and DeHaan went over the top with his role, and he came across as a whiny slur-machine.
Unimaginative film executives keep hiring him and the many composers who trained under him, which is why we get so many scores that have a similar basic sound. He's worked on a lot of hits, able to add propulsion to scenes where none exists, so producers want to emulate that success. They especially like to be associated with Nolan's favoured composer. Thematic, melodic scores are unfashionable now and have been for ten or fifteen years. Not a surprise that James Horner was booted off this franchise to be replaced by Zimmer and cohorts. Fortunately, we have a new John Williams score to look forward to with the next Star Wars movie. Now there's a real legend of film music!
I'll be cheering up like a happy kid if that happens, I swear I would recognise this theme immediately if it played there, fingers crossed it will be the case X ) ...

Best theme song for a villain ever, so intense.
Han zimmer is amazing, and so was the movie. But when he said his name for the first time it was incredibly cheesy... "Don't you know who I am!" "No" "I'm electro!!"
thoughts on the movie?
THIS HAS TO PLAY if he hits the screen in No Way Home 🙌⚡⚡⚡
IF he hits the screen? there’s no way he’s not
It better
hope you saw the trailer that released today :D
I wished it happened, unfortunately I doubt it since this is very underrated
@@blue1133 And so was the character. Don't remember many people liking this version of Electro for a while
The movie was weak in a lot of areas, but I liked Electro's scenes, the way he would appear was nicely done and his theme was pretty much the best music in the whole film since it fit quite well to how paranoid Max was due to being so undervalued and looked down on by so many in his life.
Stewart Haggin OY! i like the actor they got for harry i liked him in that super heroy turned bad guy movie with telkinesis

Admit it, you felt sorry for Max.
I thought I was the only one. It honestly broke my heart when Max had said: "I just wanted people to see me".
jamie fox acted at the best of his ability to make it legit in the cinema or home tv screens!
Kimberley Watson They made Max such a tragic figure in this, and I love that. I was so sad that they wound up killing him, but honestly, how do you imprison a guy who can literally zap his way through power lines? A rubber room's not gonna cut it.

Laura Bowden Yea it was not max' fault that he became evil.
Let's be honest. Crying for Max is a bit excessive.
TheDihan8 Sexist.
It is the truth lady.
TheDihan8 Stereotypical AND sexist; this just keeps getting worse and worse.
6:56 is what you came for
I love how that was handled, you can see Max clearly frightened by what's happening to him & by the people of the city.
And reading this has made me fall in love with electro even more and sad that this scene wasn't built up to this turning point in his character.
5:39 used for Electro's in NWH
The relationship with Spidey and Electro reminds me of "Stan" by Eminem
That's a really good comparison when you think about it
Parasocial relationship
2:44 this scream is freaking sick !! I wish they put more of this in the track
Ikr! I wonder who’s voice that was
I really like that part too, but I think that was an electric guitar wailing rather than a scream, but I'm not too sure lol
ColdRetain I hate Electro in the comcis, a glorified bank robber. He needed a rewrite, just like in "The Spectacular Spiderman" Cartoon
Marvel didn't do anything, Sony did - with decades old Marvel comics. I agree the transformation itself is believable with the unknown, intangible powers of electricity but he was way too on the nose. Singing happy birthday to himself in his origin scene? Pretty silly!
rstarr14 Well I liked it
rstarr14 I think the happy birthday part illustrated how lonely he really was
What is amazing is that Electro's looks are NOT CGI. But entirely make-up, with CGI to give it the glowing "electric" look.
Actually some parts of the movie they added cgi to electro
kevin alviar That's what he just said....
That flute part is soooooo funny
RaveAramashi I think it's a clarinet.
Bradley Wilder Ahh I see, I didn't even know that. Thanks XD
It's in the beginning of the Electro Suite.
Oh I see
So many critics make fun of the rhythmical whispering, but I honestly think it adds so much to the score. It shows Max’s paranoia and confusion over his new powers, and how he’s getting in his own head. It’s great imo
Jamie foxx should get an Oscar for his role as electro, and that white dude who played green goblin, they did a damn good job.
you should watch Chronicle if you liked the goblin

I love all the little subtle elements that combine to make this song fit perfectly. The electric-sounding synth noises, the upbeat and harmless-sounding tune that plays between the whispering-heavy parts, the whispering that describes the dark feelings and paranoid thoughts.
It all combines to make the perfect theme for a normal person turned into a paranoid electrically-charged madman.

it's actually something slipping. not suffering suffering
I've got to be the only person who likes the whispering. To me its Electro's auditory hallucinations as his mind breaks and he falls into a state of delirium, especially at 5:00
That's what this entire song is for me, insight into Electro's insanity.
Your not the only one
it was a bad movie. You're over thinking it.
7:19 is such an awesome part. when Electro uses his powers to free himself fro his prison and Harry just had that evil smile. I thought it was great.

Okay, why is everyone saying they're sad Electro died? Energy can't die. His receptor died, but Electro can always reconstitute himself. Unfortunately for Parker, his energy is still in the power plant's system. In the comics, his rebirth took forever. He'll be back.

TASM 1 was alright. TASM 2 was such a disappointment and disgrace to Spider-Man and all of his characters.
This movie and the previous one were so much better than I expected. They stuck mostly true to the comics and the action was great. And of course, the OST
TASM sucked horribly. This one was pretty good. These 2 still don't hold a candle to Spider-Man 2.
yamisupersaiyan Did we watch the same movie? The Amazing spiderman was awesome! Definitely better than the original trilogy.
AstoundingChaotix Absolutely right. The original trilogy was way too inaccurate for me.

Many villains aren't villains because they are evil, they are either rejected by society and hold a grudge, or just have different, unpopular views that society doesn't agree with even if they have those views for the right reason, kind of like an end justifies the mean kind of mentality.
***** Me too
Dude the movies soundtrack gave me an eargasm
This soundtrack
I love this track!!! This is the shiznit!
For those who have NOT seen this movie yet, believe me, it's a very SHOCKING experience.
Ok, I'm sorry, I just had to do that. :)
I love you. :D
***** Okaaaaaaaaay?
From what I saw of Electro's special effects makes me excited for the InFamous movie that Avi Arad has planned.
Havoc101c I don't know what you're talking about the beast for, but if it references the bad ending, it won't happen. The good ending is the only cannon one.
pillowsack powerranger
Yes it's a thing, it's not been officially announced yet but it's on Avi Arad's list of productions, including Uncharted and the Metal Gear Solid movie which was officially announced.
amazing soundtrack
Im speechless!
lol no
It is
***** omfg your picture is so hilarious
Mordor6121512 I know what you mean, and my opinion has sort of changed with time. TASM 2 really did suffer for that and pretty much everything else.
Spent Lizard I don't know. I felt that Garfield, Stone and Dehaan took there roles serious.
Tom Portengen Nah, Garfield and Stone felt like they were just reading off the script (honestly, some of their dialogue feels really forced), and DeHaan went over the top with his role, and he came across as a whiny slur-machine.
This Just. Fits Electro so Much Hans Zimmer Is the Best
I just love the vocals in this, even though there isn't much, it just really adds to how awesome this song is, fitting the character really well.
Electro was so friggin awesome in this movie!
A fraction of this was played when Tom confronted Electro in No Way Home.
I got so excited when i heard this
I’m happy they at least acknowledged it.
.....yep. Ugh.
I lost my sh*t
Hans Zimmer has this weird monopoly on the music for superhero films.
Firestorm6651 not one bit! He's insane!
Firestorm6651
He is a decent composer, but, like, all the films have a similar taste in music now. It's nice to have some variety!
Hans Zimmer had been killing since the late 80s, he is the king of soundtracks!
forzacavaliere Hans Zimmer had been killing since the late 80s, he is the king of soundtracks!
Love how this played whenever electro was in the scene, got me really into the movie :D
Hans Zimmer. I knew it. Always him
Yo imagine they play this theme when Electro shows up in Spider-Man No Way Home 😳
I'll be cheering up like a happy kid if that happens, I swear I would recognise this theme immediately if it played there, fingers crossed it will be the case X ) ...
It shows up for only a second, but they did use it!
@@SithDestroyerVideoProductions yeah I know and it was nice hearing it again
@@SithDestroyerVideoProductions Yeah, only 3 seconds but it was actually "I'm Electro" from the same movie and not "My Enemy", they share that same electroshock-like part. A nice touch though, I was expecting more but it was ok X ) ...
