It explains so much about why she was like she was in the first season. She had so much loyalty to Mike and the Beef. One of my favorite episodes this season.
Not to mention all Tina wanted was a routine so she could help feed her family. Carmy and Syd coming in and changing things up probably reminded her of how she lost her last job.
Sydney (Ayo Edeberi) directed this episode and she did amazing!! 🥺👏🏽 also I like to think the name of the episode “Napkins” is a call back to season 1 episode 8 when Tina is speaking to Carm about how Mikey wasn’t the same because he didn’t order napkins and that it wasn’t his usual attitude. ❤️🩹
Everyone talks about the stress of the kitchen from this show. Nope, this episode makes my skin crawl: the stress of having to find a new job after being let go of my current job. Job hunting’s a nightmare.
Christopher Zucchero, who plays Chi-Chi (the front-counter server who gives Tina the sandwich) is also a production adviser, similar to Matty Matheson, and the real-life owner of Mr. Beef in Chicago, the inspiration for the show. This episode cemented for me how much Liza deserved her Emmy for this show, she plays Tina so wonderfully and is neck-and-neck with Richie for my favorite arc on the show.
this is one of my favorite episodes of this season! Ayo did a fantastic job directing, and honestly, she hit the jackpot getting to work with Liza Colon-Zayas in this role. having to essentially carry an entire episode is not easy, but she did it with ease, and I was transfixed the entire time. I loved Tina's first interaction with Richie, and her entire first conversation with Mikey warmed my heart. looking forward to the next one! 🥰
9:45 That one dude is the actual former owner of the original The Beef restaurant the entire show is based off of. He is also the friend/advisor of the The Bear showrunner.
It's crazy Omn1 was an art major. Always thought you were business/economics/analyst related, if not a scholar/teaching position based on your oral abilities.
13:15 I know, I loved that call back Oh, I didn’t interpret carmie sharing the picture was to show him up. I thought because he was excited to share it .
Yeah but in the one episode where we see Carmy in group therapy he shares that part of the reason he got so into cooking and being a chef was because he wanted to prove something to Mikey as a fuck you for not letting him work at the Beef with him.
I’ve read a lot of negative comments about season 3 but honestly, I love the variety of themes and backstories in this season. Enjoy learning more about various characters and the storytelling has been so interesting for me. Yeah, the frantic pace of the restaurant from Season 1 isn’t present, but that’s ok! The show is maturing and the quality of every facet of production is increasing too. ❤
23:15 i understand your story. I got a B.A. in Music, but have worked in the banking / credit card processing / tech support industry with high school graduate age people for over 20 years! Luckily I'm coming up on 18 years at my current job next month so I'm maxed on PTO. Finally made it to the next level of pay grade a few years ago. It takes awhile, but my salary there hasn't quite doubled since Ive started, but it's getting there. Maybe at year 20, LOL.
OMG man, preach! So much of the troubleshooting aspect is so lost in the big-scale ISPs these days. As someone out of that world for a while, as you, it's really disappointing.

Tina and her husband are also a couple in real life and you can tell. Such a sweet and heartfelt chemistry between them. 🥰
Detective Batista FTW! 😉

That whole scene between Mike and Tina, Beautiful ❤ Great episode

What's more is this episode is Ayo's directorial debut, meaning her first time directing for any tv/film?

Easily a top 3 episode of the whole show.
The fkn DOPAMINE that shot up to my brain when they showed THE BEEF

Angel from Dexter.
I think her first name is pronounced as 👁️ o.
This show man…
4:02 As someone who was in a similar situation as Tina’s and sat in rooms like those, my reaction was just the same. Walk out. Walk the hell out.
✨🐻✨😔✨❤️🩹
