Listened to this song probably at least 50 times the first week after it came out. Its my favorite epic that released in 2023. Not a single flaw in the songwriting at all
I think why this album is hitting the right spot for me is it is much lighter and more harmonic that what i really am Listening to right now! I too as you know have similar taste to you as far prog metal goes! Most everything I love right now is in the prog metal Vain! This is a really nice uplifting record to sprinkle in. And the production is so good. These musicians are very talentef! Polished as you said. Maybe too polished! But I am digging it!!
As for other projects from these guys, Simon Åkesson is in a vocal jazz group called Accent and Sebastian Åkesson sings in a pop vocal group called Dad Harmony.
Yes isn't dark at all. In fact Bill Bruford said one of the reasons he left was that everything was too happy. If you've never heard it, try _Awaken_ from _Going for the One_ by Yes.
I'm not always in the mood to listen to these guys, but i will say that if you are having a crappy day its hard to find something that works better than Moon Safari for putting a smile on your face. I really enjoyed this track though its not my favourite long form of theirs. I dont think anything has bettered the combination of the first two tracks on Blomjud for me.
I love The Flower Kings as much as Opeth, so this really is the perfect mix of fire and tenderness. Many people don't like symphonic prog, and Moon Safari could fit under that label. It almost sounds as if Aladdin's score was written by prog metal band in the beginning, haha! I noticed Simon Åkesson really starting toying with gritty vocals, such as Daniel Gildenlöw from Pain of Salvation. He's an incredible arranger and vocalist. His vocal jazz group "Accent" was incredible to see live.
I know what you mean about this band,Jim. I like them alot/don't love them if only for occasional listens. This sems their best album yet,tho (IMO)..great comeback! THey can't all be Neal Morse and his various projects now,can they? That's cream of the crop stuff,eh? Cheers, T PS: would love to see you react to any of the four NMB albums in full. ;-)
Good afternoon again Jim, I didn’t really like the first two sides although the second side was better than the first. I totally agree with your comments at the start; too nice, I need more than this light pop rock. The start if the first song is good and has a bit more edge. Yngwie Malmsteen sounds here and there; yes. Well, it didn’t take long and we’re back into the swamp of niceness. Oh wait, a bit more roughness coming up. Many songs on this album could need a bit of this. It’s still the best song of the album so far. Not enough to compensate for the first record of this album.
Plainly better but marred by the 'pretty' song after the interesting intro and the arty pop at the 15 minute mark on your video. I agree with palantir. 70% of this track is excellent, 30% not good at all.

Pretty cool, I’m hearing lots of different similarities with other groups I know - thanks for sharing! I think I’ll go download the album.

Not all prog has to be dark and heavy all the time...this is happy prog!

this is the best song of the album.... great music ... the vocals are good, but none of the voices really touches me ... will listen to it again

Something different soon!
@@JimNewstead no problem Jim,
This way I learn also about bands I will never like so in a shop I can skip them. If I can remember them of course 😅
@@palantir135glad I could help you avoid this band!😂
