    Giving Ukraine everything it needs to win this war and Ukrainian integration into NATO and the EU is the west’s best self defense.Anything less will not bring peace and reconstruction to Ukraine.

    Oil price must be kept low, santions must be effectvely applied and not bypassed by any west country, 300bn frozen assets must be assigned to Ukraine. Only once Russian economy won't be able to sustain the cost of war all this will come to an end. Only a change in government will stop Russia in trying to restore its empire.

    11:14 "the Ukrainian perspective" should be the world perspective. Their perspective is that a nuclear power cannot just steal land, sovereignty, or independence from a non-nuclear country through military force.
    That should be every civilized country's position. Not uniquely Ukraine's. That type of equivocation is corrosive and favors that thing in the Kremlin.

    • @trumpforever6706

      @trumpforever6706 The rule comes with consequences. The rf is yet to face those consequences in a unified way - and they're STILL paying a huge cost.

    • @billy2807
      @billy2807 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      @trumpforever6706 this is why NATO is a good thing.
      If russia is allowed to do what it is trying to do in Ukraine, then every small country near russia will think (or maybe realize) that they need nukes to protect themselves from russia. This accelerates a nuclear arms race.
      In the case of NATO countries, they don't need nukes, because they have nuclear powers protecting them (usually from russia, obviously) which helps to prevent proliferation of nuclear weapons, especially in smaller, less robust countries.
      Make sense?

  • @paulkruse6634
    @paulkruse6634 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +15

    NATO’s rules and regulations are ancient, and need to be updated, ie , for avnew membership like Ukraine into Nato , it shouldn’t be dependent on all members agreeing to this , a very well known concept in the world of democracy is , just hold a vote based on 50% plus 1 and Ukraine would be voted into Nato ,even if it is still at War , in Ukraine’s case Russia should be given notice to stop and withdraw, if they don’t than they would face the wrath of Nato . Keep it simple and with the times .🇨🇦

      For someone as driven by their ego, like Putin or the US First Felon, it’s highly unlikely that they would ever, ever admit to making any mistakes.
      Putin did loose this war long ago. Every objective, especially discouraging NATO’s expansion that now includes Sweden, Norway, Finland and eventually Ukraine, were among his top goals. This war that he continues is meant more to ‘punish’ Ukraine, for making him look this weak and this wrong about his foreign policy for Russian expansion.
      He can not achieve those goals, regardless of how the war itself ends. All he has left is to throw this tantrum, and inflicting as much damage on Ukraine as he possibly can.
      And the Russian Government that has granted him this blank check, as much as it may be regretting all of this, is also trying desperately to find a way to save face!
      Putin will need to be removed as head of state before Russia is able to resolve this dilemma.

And so much talking down of Ukraine's chances against the 'mighty Russian bear'. If you listen to people like Gen (Ret) Ben Hodges, he'd tell you Russia's gains had been relatively minor and had come at enormous cost to Russia in lives and materiel. Renewed gains in Kursk, of which the Russians had so far retaken only around 40% of the territory taken by the Ukranians in August, 2024, and not the 50% stated in this interview, not only force the Russians onto the back foot, while sending a message to the West that Ukraine is still capable of winning the war, but make Putin look increasingly weak among his own people, which, under the right set of circumstances, might lead to his removal from office.

    Estimates of Russian losses in Ukraine vary widely, but recent reports indicate that Russia has suffered over 800,000 casualties (killed and wounded) since the invasion began in February 2022. This includes approximately 198,000 killed according to Ukrainian sources, though other estimates suggest a range of 120,000-208,700 deaths

    I agree with the Major General’s assessment. Neither Ukraine nor Russia seems likely to back down. Ukraine will continue fighting, with or without U.S. weapons-though it would certainly prefer U.S. support, it can still rely on the EU. Similarly, Russia will press on regardless of American involvement in arming Ukraine. A new wave of conscription would be unpopular and the structural damage to the economy due to sanction would worsen, but Putin appears willing to risk those consequences to achieve victory. At this point, the two sides are simply too far apart to negotiate a peace.
