I grew up reading Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge (Dagobert Duck) by Carl Barks. The dutch translations that is. I recently picked up a couple of the Fantagrapics edtions. It never looses it’s charm.
Chychooo! Okay based on stuff you've raved about in the past I can assure you...MiracleMan will blow your mind! It's been heavily imitated since it first was published, but it is still an extraordinary deconstruction of the superhero mythos. Marvel has reprinted it since getting the rights so you could easily get those collections rather cheaply I think.
Also that EC 3-D comic is amazing! What a murderer's row of legendary artists. I've acquired some original EC copies recently and consider them the jewels of my modest collection.
Same here, brother, I consider the EC books to be some of the best books I have in my collection, in case of a fire I save the EC's :) ... as for Miracleman, I've been looking forward to reading it for years, think I'll try and get my hands on the Moore and Neil Gaiman run at the same time and give them a read back to back... puts a smile on my face just thinking about it, just need to wait for a 50% off sale at my local comic store :))
Literally just saw that EC 3-D comic listed on Ebay for $110 and a beat up copy, no less. How you got yours for $11 is a mystery (and a real steal). I post a lot of EC stuff (covers and original art) on my Facebook Group. But there's also a fantastic group the EC Fan-Addict FB group which is filled with the most knowledgeable fans anywhere. Someone there is currently curating an EC original art exhibit that just opened in New York. Needless to say the pages are just stunning.
Oh man! I would love to go to an original art EC exhibit. Wish it was in my neck of the woods. Not to mention that I would love to own an original piece. Oh my, one day for sure though.... as for the buy, I'm pretty sure you can tell by the ridiculous grin on my face that I couldn't believe I got it for that price. I had bid higher, but who am i to question the collecting gods, I just take it where I can get it... lol :))

Funny that you posted this today, just checked for new comic content last night and ended up going to the comic store for the first time in a while today. You were right, you can find some good stuff in discount bins, some of it more interesting to me than whats currently on shelves.

Miracleman is such a great series! If you end up liking it, you have to check out Rick Veitch's MAXIMMORTAL series. Great prices on those as well! They don't usually show up around here for that price.
Off topic, finally finished the death gate cycle. Really enjoyed most of it, loved some of the characters, but wasn't thrilled with the ending. Did you have a similar feeling? Maybe there was more to it I didnt fully understand?
omg! I can't believe you brought this up. Awesome!... I got to page 349 of the third book (Seventeen: Withdrawal). That happened to be around the time I started to get into Live Streaming, so I stopped reading, and haven't read anymore sense. I will read the rest for sure, I'll probably start a couple of chapters before where I am now just to remind myself what's going on, but I feel as you do.... I absolutely loved all the parts that dealt with magic. I also loved the first book, the characters development and interaction was beautifully done. But the last book, the last half, it just feels so rushed, way too much going on, way too many characters that we're suppose to feel something about, that I didn't. I wish he had kept the number of players to a manageable level and explored their lives instead of introducing new ones.
The good news is you end up caring more about the important characters but the bad news is you get some, in my opinion, very forgettable ones in book 4. Its nice the way the story comes together in the last 3 books, no more jumping around. Let me know how you end up liking the rest.

Someone after my own heart. I have a lot of math videos lined up to do so there will be many coming, however, I've promised all the comic book lovers here that we're going to get some serious readings done, so for the next couple of month our main focus will be comic books (with some random math videos thrown in). Once we've had a nice fill of comic readings we'll go pretty hardcore with the math.
