    We did this to our asphalt shingle roof. There was a huge difference in temperature, temps taken same conditions, time of day etc. Our roof went from 160 degrees to ambient temperature, or about 86 degrees. The inside of the house was then between 2 and 8 degrees cooler than ambient temperature 24/7 with no A/C, just cross-breeze. It used to get hotter than outdoors and stay that way all night prior to the SuperTherm. We live in South Texas. Whereas our temp was unbearable in other summers, this summer was much better after the SuperTherm. Michael Polanco from San Antonio, TX can do this for you.

      160°F = 71°C
      86°F = 30°C

      @@fbottone We applied SuperTherm to the TOP of our shingled roof. First, we sprayed on one layer of a basecoat/primer they sell for non-metal substrates, and then 10 mm of SuperTherm. Update: we were able to do the Gulf coast summer without air conditioning. The house stayed 1-11 degrees cooler than outside, with the 11 degree difference being during the hottest part of the day. This was with screen doors and windows open, three ceiling fans running in an uninsulated house. SuperTherm is amazing and really does work. We plan to put it on a quonset hut and a motorhome next.

      We took the temperature of the roof in the sun before applying it (10 AM) and then took the temperature in the same spot, in the sun, at 10 AM another day after applying. The difference was staggering. The low temp on the roof can be detected every single day with a laser tool. We also put some SuperTherm on a metal sheet and applied a blowtorch. It was unaffected and didn't retain heat. If you have thick trees, then you have natural protection from UV, but not infrared. The SuperTherm reflects both. Here on the Gulf Coast, we can't have our waterfront houses surrounded by thick trees because they will fall on our house in a windstorm. Our roofs bake in the sun all day.

    • @Daveinet
      @Daveinet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't believe it is questionable, but rather question if it is practical. The trick is that it is a metal roof, which radiates heat. Thermal paint is a radiant barrier ONLY. It is NOT a substitute for insulation. The sun's heat is radiant, so it blocks the direct effect of the sun. But it does nothing for preventing the transfer of ambient heat energy, which will go right through it.

    • @NEOtechCoatings
      @NEOtechCoatings ปีที่แล้ว

      @Daveinet that's right, Super Therm does insulate. The definition of insulate is: Insulation is material designed to prevent heat or sound from being transmitted from one area to another. So if the radiant heat is being blocked it's insulating...you're left with ambient. Bulk insulation does the same except it slowly allows the full heat to transfer. Using air pockets to slowly allow the heat through. Once the material insulation is full, or heat flux it all flows through. Then it's no longer ambient. The goal is to work with both. Block the heat load then the material insulation works to regulate the ambient better inside the home. Super Therm is 100% true. Tested by the Department of Energy in Texas, Florida and Denver along with NASA for fire protection. It's designed as a closed film multi ceramics insulation coating that blocks UV, Infrared and Visual heat. Results are exactly as they are because they are true!

      It is possible that I wasn't clear. We live on the hot, mosquito coast of South Texas, near Mexico. It is hot for five months a year, with heat indexes stretching from 105 to 122 degrees F during the hottest months. The acidic air from the hypersaline Laguna Madre (back yard) was corroding our new air conditioners within months of installation. We couldn't afford to keep replacing them, so we decided to SuperTherm the roof and just acclimate to the base air temps. We were pleased that the inside stayed at 82 to 84 degrees even when outside base temps were near 100 - basically the day temp indoors was similar to the lowest temp during the night. If we were in a cold climate, I would paint the roof dark. However, in a climate like ours, we want to reflect all possible UV and infrared (heat) away from the house. The entire process, including labor, cost way less than one central A/C replacement.

      It is been 84 degrees F inside when the heat index is 115 outside, combo of air temp near 97+ and humidity. We use security screen doors (open) and windows open. We are on the coast and have a cross-breeze. We acclimated to the average warm season temps of 77-84 degrees F. Our roof registers the outside temperature, while nearby concrete garden structures register in the 149 degrees F. We are a family of engineering and IT backgrounds, and enjoy the process of testing. We expect the roof to last an extra 10 or more years (if no hurricanes) due to the effect of the SuperTherm bonding the shingles together as well as bonding to the shingles. We also expect for the performance to continue to be about the same. We spent $2200 or so on base, paint, and labor to do our roof, for perspective.

      The SuperThermed top of the roof is as cool as ambient temperature, or even cooler. The inside of the house has the same results. It is not hotter in the house, but cooler in the house than it is outdoors.The exception is nighttime, when the house temp reaches the night low outdoors. Keep in mind that we are applying living techniques we learned in Central America, which means taking advantage of windows, security screen doors, etc. for cross-breeze.

    • @wendycastellanos4044
      @wendycastellanos4044 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If we had our house all closed in, like most Americans, and put SuperTherm on the roof, we would have huge savings on air conditiong bills, similar to lining the inside of the roof with 6" of styrofoam (we did this in Central America - blocked all heat from the metal roof there).
