Is there a video that explains installing the casters? What is the difference between the Q16 and Q16 Plus?

Hi QuiltyJill, the casters are very easy to install, as they are simply screwed in, replacing the original foot of the Studio Frame and re-using the counter-nut. The packaging of the casters contains a small leaflet with detailed pictures how to screw them in. The Q 16 PLUS can be used on a frame whereas the Q 16 is a table-only machine.

It comes with the 10 ft leaders that can be cut down for the 5 ft frame option. Once they are cut, does that mean they can no longer be reused /joined as 10 ft leaders? Also, what item number is the 5 ft leader pkg for the studio frame?

Hi Keri, yes, you are right. Should you decide to cut the 10ft leaders it will be difficult to sew them together again, as it will result in a rather strong seam. Preferably you should get the 5 ft leaders (item number 105 505 50 01) and save the 10ft as a spare for when you decide to use the full 10ft frame length.

Can I still quilt a larger than 5ft quilt on the smaller frame by folding ends over before clasping?

Hi Fay, thanks for asking. The Studio Frame has a 4-rail system (take-up rail, idler bar, back and top rail) for direct placement of the quilt parts. We would suggest to visit one of our BERNINA dealers and try folding the edges under on 5ft frame to see whether you like the handling and quilting space.

I love this frame. Does everything you show in this video come with the frame (the carriage, the handles, etc.)? I have the Q20 on a Koala Table and I really think I would use it more on this frame.

Hi Susan, thanks for asking. Everything you need to operate your BERNINA Q 20 on a frame comes with the Studio Frame. Handles and carriage are included in the scope of delivery. The Pantograph Kit and the Ruler Kit are optional accessories you might want to look at as well. So almost everything we show in the video comes with the frame. The sofa and quilt stay with us though 😉.

@@BerninaInternational I have spoken to a local dealer and he says that I cannot use the frame without purchasing an upgrade kit. I have to have "the cross track with wheels that the machine sits on then it sits on the frame tracks, a vibration kit, and the handles" for my machine to work. This is an additional charge that is over and above the price of the frame. I just need clarification whether I need these extra items to get started. This is a big purchase for me and I want to be sure I get everything I need to get started.

@@susanwolfe3139 Dear Susan, our concept definitely is that carriage, handles etc. are included with the frames. This applies to the BERNINA Studio Frame and to the PRO frames. The latter used to be handled differently - but we changed that two years ago. Please ask your local dealer to double-check with the central BERNINA organization in your country. If you live in the US, the dealer should contact BERNINA of America.
