hello love your videos. I just started metal detecting just over a year ago and i really like it. But I am going to germany next March for a wedding( I lived there for over 20 years) but moved back in april 2020. when I was in the army I was stationed at Darmstadt in the airvac unit 159th med. but that was in 1987-1992. One of the soldiers in the unit had a metal detector at the airfiled and found many anti air shells. And outside Cambrai-Fritsch kaserne some kids found some old rifle grenades. What permits do I need if I want to go metal detecting in Germany?

Might be already. Around Leningrad they found so many already and were shipped back to Germany or the soldiers homeland.
Yer my grandads cousins died in Russia ww2 hope they find them Helmut Kaiser and Wilhelm Kaiser. Hopefully they find your family member

At some point that soldier was probably relaxing in France enjoying the wine and women then he got a notice he was being transferred to the Eastern front

Can the living relatives of these soldiers be found, do they have tags?
German tags are very hard to decipher, records office was bombed at end of war.
Thx for haring the good work. Question: what is happening with the found tags and remains.
The remains would be sent for DNA testing then reburied. The tags will be recorded and crossed checked with any person listed in Military records. Also the tags would most likely to to any living relatives of the soldier. In general not sure how they do it in Europe.
