This is one of the *only* videos I could find on YT that allows me to properly test the soundstage and imaging of audiophile-grade headphones. Thank you for making this; that said, if I may make a suggestion: you should put terms like "surround sound test" and "headphone soundstage" into the title and/or description to make the video easier to find.
Or just add the terms to the tags. That way the title can remain unchanged, but the video will still show up in the search results for these terms.

thank you! this was to test the difference between "music mode" and "gaming mode" for my headset, as i couldn't initially tell any if there were any distinctions between the two. turns out there is!
Actually I have a 7.1 Surround sound system and I can hear the sound coming from the rear speakers as I rotate the image. I never thought that (and I was kind of angry about that) surround sound was possible on TH-cam. Thanks for this Video. It just made my day! (night actually)

Works here on iOS and is treated as spatial audio. using Apple headphones such as Beats Fit Pro or AirPods Pro gives you full head tracking capabilities as expected. Interesting!
@͏ That’s actually the interesting part. It doesn’t show up as “spatialized stereo with head tracking”. It’s actually being processed in iOS as true Spatial Audio.

Appreciate the demo, but would love a how-to I am looking at starting to record with a Ambisonic microphone, and would rather offer Spatial Audio to viewers rather than having to downmix to say Binaural, but I do not have nor want to get a 3D video recorder. I figured there has to be a way to take a standard video and "trick it" just as you have done here.
This video is working great with Spatial Audio for the Google Pixel Buds Pro. I can either move my head and the sound move. Or I can move my phone around my head and the sound moves.
I'm hoping TH-cam Music will start to add Spatial Audio music which can also be Dolby Atmos audio or even be 360 Reality Audio.

If you ever remake this video, maybe add some guiding lines into the void, so it would be easier to SEE when the sound source is directly on our side & back.
Working great with Bose soundtouch 10 connected to my laptop. It is still a single speaker surround system but windows sonic spatial enhance helps a little.

FYI, on my PC running Linux with a Soundblaster internal card, which supports Amazon Prime videos with 5.1 surround perfectly, on this same Chrome browser, your test video moves the sound left/right between the front two speakers only when I drag it.
Noop. Do I need special headphones for this demo? Using standard headphones plugged into a computer, clicking and dragging the image has no effect. The circle moves, but the audio does not. Thx!
Works on my Linux Gaming Rig with a sennheiser hd 280 pro, didn't use my htc vive just manually clicked and dragged to pan the audio. I'm glad official spatial audio content is becoming more common. While it was fun to have hrtf for games enabled in openal during the awkward years between Aureal and present, it was always a pain to get them working correctly.

my rear channels are actually working. this is impressive but i thought it wasn't possible to have surround in chrome, everything I've seen about multi channel audio on TH-cam points to tv apps or firesticks

I also saw that the audio format of this video is marked weirdly as Opus(338). I guess that's the quadrophonic version for 360o Videos.
Hello, is the source for this video available? I'm a developer and this would be a great testing video, since I don't know how to create 360 videos myself. I tried downloading the video with external software but the spatial audio doesn't seem to get downloaded correctly.
When I am moving the directional buttons at the top of your video then I hear the audio following me. However, when I click on the audio in my menu bar on my Macbook Pro M1, it says "Spatial Audio Not Available." Yet spatial audio IS working when I watch Apple TV on my Macbook Pro. It is the most buggiest update I have ever seen with Apple. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I noticed that this kind of videos with 360 audio isn't supported on my iPhone using normal headphones just like it works on a computer.
Is that how it is or do I need to enable something somewhere?
I'm using a creative Omni 5.1 soundcard on windows and for me the rear speakers are always silent unless I enable the creative surround upmix of the soundcard. I expected to get the quadraphonic output at least. Could there be anything configured wrong on my side?

This is awesome, I have a PC with Truthear x Crinacle Zero's with Dolby Access and the spatial audio is so cool when I drag it around.

@@shotarcherz1690 today I got the beats studio buds and I tried them on this video and it was horrible with spatial audio when apple marketed it as spaital audio while the crinacle zeros were like 10 times better when they didn't market it. 💀oh yea the audio on the crinacle zeros were better too

Interesting video. I hear voice is coming from front - right - behind - lefp - front continuously when I turn my samsung phone, but only hear horizontal directions not hear distance. And, moving my phone up and down, I hear something different but I can't say it's from up or down clearly.

I will definitely use this vid to try out Spatial sound with the DTSX audio codec I just bought the license for (it's $20 for life time access IIRC). Other than Battlefield 2042 and other games it seems to work. But this will be the actual test for it. Thanks again!
OK, so I just watched your video on TH-cam video app with the same headset. It was a no-go at all.
Your voice was, for a lack of a better term, in mono. Same volume, same quality from all channels. It was the equivalent you talking to me face to face w/o either of us moving.
However, I tried other Spatial sound/sorround sound tests to see if it was my headset, but the others seem to work fine. Except for another 3D video whose audio quality was wonky.

i have this bus type thing and when i plug my headphones in windows thinks i have speakers and will only play through my left ear but i plugged the headphones its self in and now it works

I'm running 7.1.4 through my interface. Watching the video on Brave. I am unable to enable spatial audio in windows due to the way my system is setup around ASIO. When I play the video I'm getting L/R and LRS/RRS working with full 360 rotation of audio. Just wanted to provide to the results pool :) Any tutorial on how you created this?

My results: I have an Adam 5.1 speaker setup and going through my Antelope Discreet 8... I get audio from: Front R and L and Rear R and L, but no Center or Sub channels.

I thought he had it backwards as well. But if I hold the phone in front of me and turn around the sound follows the image. Pretty cool 😎
Idk why but if I point my phone to the left the audio comes out on the right earbud and pointing to right makes the audio point to the left earbud

I did get a prompt but the app noticed my phone and headphones where not compatible for spatial audio.
Hmm left to right works but up and down don't really sound different. So that means it's not working?

Any idea if there's a fix for it being backwards? The spatial audio is working, but when I hold my phone on the right side of my head, all of the sound comes from my left earphone, and vice-versa if I move my phone to the left. I've double checked that my headphones are on right.

For most devices it does work but I have the iPad Air 2 and it does not work but whereas when I try it with my iPhone 7 Plus with my AirPods Pro 2 it does work and is not that much a audio thing it’s that the audio whiff ur hearing can go different places when turning around your body so yeah!

I notice that the narration seemed to deliberately omit any mention of audio sounding like it's coming from the front, and indeed, I could never get it to sound like it was coming from the front. I have actually never run across any "spatial audio" on TH-cam that does this. It's all from the sides or back, and occasionally above, but never front. When I listen to music, I like to feel like I'm facing the performance, not feel like my back is turned to it. Does "coming from the front" even exist?
I didn't deliberately avoid mentioning the front image, but it is a known issue that binaural/spatial audio doesn't produce as strong of a front image as stereo does, although it does improve the side image. If you listen closely, you might notice that TH-cam makes the audio slightly louder when it's in front of you in an attempt to help with this issue, but it's not super effective. There's a lot of research being done to find a solution for this, but for now stereo still has plenty of advantages.
What If it works then my headphones have spatial audio I mean I have beat solo ³ and it is supported but I have and android plus apple music isn't available to me!!

Nothing happening. I am using headphones that do surround sound so idk wat wrong with
testing Windows Sonic with my Corsair Virtuoso SE headset.... sounds like crap. the sound just pans left and right, slightly muffled when "behind". Absolutely nothing for up/down (which is what I want most for gaming).
