Sir you are absolutely right about post harvest management. I have read about this in several journal research papers too.
People have made it a trend of applying fertilisers post harvest, without even knowing why they are doing so.

@hathi k I second that! Can we have basic level of soil test (N, P, H, pH) in our orchards so that we don't rely too much on the horticulture lab testing? Also a similar basic setup for leaf testing where leaf diseases can be identified with a cheap microscope. The young farmers know basic science in my humble opinion, although I am not sure whether such a basic setup would be any beneficial for the apple farmers here. Any thoughts/suggestions here?

Thanks 🙏 You have very precisely brought out the basic requirement of maintaining moisture throughout the year.
You may also consider covering importance of leaf testing
to identify precise deficiencies of minerals ( minerals in soluble form ) present in soil
& soil testing particularly the ph level , moisture & carbon level &
there effect on nutritional up take which effects overall health of plants.
Kindly consider bringing out that the soil testing is only limited / restrict upto analysing soluble mineral in the soil , which is limited upto testing 1% of the soil being tested ,
balance 99% of the soil is not tested in soil tests, as these mineral are not available in soluble form , which can only be tested in by doing minerals testing ( non soluble minerals) by laboratory who carry out soil testing of soil for the purpose of mining of minerals from earth .
Moisture & microbial activity slowly converted non-soluble minerals ( constituting 99 % of the soil ) into soluble mineral for utilisation by the plants.
Application of of chemical fertiliser on soil kills microbes etc & hence soil becomes dead ( we call such land Jad in Hindi )
Yes very well said.But we need to consider the present mindset of the end grower also, grower may not be able to understand such advance concepts at this time.With time we'll also try to upgrade our seminars.

We have to consider the fact that maximum of the growers are layman in this field and we have to use their terms to make them understand some basics.Tha's why the title is 'basics of apple cultivation' .

Kindly 🙏consider bringing out truth regarding Soil testing that it only tests less than 1 % of the soil being tested and coming from you shall have tremendously effect on Young Farmers including even on the so called progressive famers and help in breaking the Mind Set 🙏🙏🙏

Namaskar, PH is so important and you have hit the nail, PH in short is like plant is not hunger and will not eat anything. once the right PH is hit it is ready to eat.

सर् नमस्ते🙏 मैं प्रेम वर्मा आनी (विश्लाधार) से हूं ,हमारा एरिया ड्राई जॉन में आता है ।मुझे एक कन्फ्यूजन है ,- तोलिया नहीं खोदना तो ठीक है पर यदि हम गोबर ऐसे ही डाले तो धूप से वो सुख जाएगा तो ऐसे में क्या गोबर डालते समय खोदना जरूरी है या ऐसे ही ऊपर से डाल दें ।
