Love how Tommy can go from country, to jazz, to gypsy so fluidly.
He approaches jazz from a more bluesy perspective though. That's why he picks standards like these: you can just play the D blues scale and get it away with it. They also play the bridge differently so there is no modulation. Probably because Tommy is more comfortable this way. Don't get me wrong: I like his approach!

I can admit to myself I will never be the musician you are Tommy, but that's ok, at this point my goal is to try to love life as much as you do. Your playing and laughter nurtures the soul. Thanks for sharing your amazing gift.

He's great at everything haha:)
He is so damn inventive. Both these guys are masters, no question, but Tommy has that ever so rare thing in music, a unique voice. Taking nothing away from Martin Taylor, but there are a few other players who could think of what Taylor thinks of and have the technical chops to pull it off. Not many, and not me.
But it's what Tommy HEARS that is so creative. He hears things that no one else ever has, like Django did, and Jimi, and a few more obscure players like George Barnes or Lenny Breau. He does it over and over and over - every clip of him here has that same originality. He really is a once in a lifetime player.
And also... don't you love that his ax is such a mess?!
earlier he started playing rhythm for a long time and for the most of the gigs i guess .
Imagine all the practice and dedication it takes to make artists like them. They are like one in billions. Speechless! They make it look so easy but in reality it would take weeks for a 'normal' guitar player to play even just a short part of some of their compositions. I can only imagine, only imagine to play so fluid! They are some blessed souls. I feel so inspired to see such great people play. It makes me wanna improve not just my guitar playing abilities but also everything that I do.

Every few years I discover a new musician. It's not like i haven't heard their music before, it's that at some point I really listen to what they have to say with their instrument. It began with a guitarist named Travis Womack, then Rory Gallagher, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page, Clapton, Gatemoth Brown, Phil Keaggey, SRV, David Gilmour, Beck, Joe Bonamassa. All are such excellent players
And now Tommy Emmanuel! Well what can you say! He is totally unique in the way that he approaches the guitar. I play rhythm guitar so when I hear what he does it makes me want to be better at what I do. Thank you Mr. Emmanuel for sharing Gods gift with the world!
I'm a huge fan of Tommy's music. I've been watchin' this video (and the others too) a lot of times, almost everyday, and I was wondering how someone can dislike it. I mean, if you don't like this, you have a very bad taste of music and moreover why do you dislike the video ? TH-cam vote system should be "Like or leave"
Couldn't agree more with you both. I really think the people who 'dislike' these videos are either trolls with nothing better to do or clueless people who probably have no videos up because they can't play shit! How can you criticise something you don't get?

Music is subjective. I can absolutely guarantee there's music you dislike, and fans of it would think you have a very badtaste of music as well.
