BACKSTAGE 2001 Homecoming taping at Billy Grahams

- Back in 2001 we recorded a Gaither Homecoming video at Billy Graham's retreat center in Asheville, NC. I took my video camera and got some backstage video footage of the different artists that were there.

I always loved seeing you and Mr. Jake together, especially when you would put on a hair piece and mock him singing.

I love the backstage videos. Everyone is so happy and full of energy. I miss a lot of the people in this video that are no longer with us.

Oh Mark! Thank you for posting this video. So many here I miss so much. Love when Jake Hess says Love you! He was such a nice person. I met him in Huntington, West Virginia at a Christmas Homecoming. I had a picture of me, my 13 month old daughter, and Jake. It was such a special picture to me. Squire Parsons is a fine fellow too. So nice. My dad and mom lived in Roane county in Amma and Squire was from Newton. Love, love, loved George Younce. Oh to many gone but can't wait to hear them, wait? What am I saying? Join them all in the Heavenly choir. I sing too and always wanted to be on a homecoming video. Share more you haven't before, Mark. I love watching all the ones who have gone on. The Speer family was always my favorite. My dad and mom had all the Homecoming videos from the beginning and I watched them and got them after mom passed but someone broke in and stole the container they were in and other things we got from her place. They stole my dad's rocker he sat in too. Just the few things I kept they owned. I will know those old videos when I see them!

I heard on one of the many Gaither programs that Ruth Graham always wanted you to sit near her because you made her laugh. Your parents probably never imagined your childhood acting up would get you a seat next to Ruth Graham!
Wish I would have been old enough to experience these Gaither homecomings. I watched them as a kid but just didn’t really appreciate all the wonderful talent until I got older. Thanks Mark

Aww...Jake Hess looked so sad, not knowing if he'd be able to sing. Bless him. He had one of the most brilliant smiles. That 93-year-old woman looked stunning! Such a lovely surprise to see Evie too.

It's funny how people react, when someone's wandering around with a camera. Some are not too happy, many role their eyes - but wait a little. I bet you had a ball every day. I think God's decision to choose you as a messenger for Him was a gift to everyone you know, who watches your videos, meets you in person, just every body. I see God in you. Thank you for being such an amazing messenger for God! You have reached/touched the hearts of LOTS of people in your life. You probably don't even know it! Thank you Mark, you are a blessing. Maybe one day God will make it possible for me to go to one of your concerts or whatever it is you call them. I can't really travel far due to medical issues, but if you were in North Carolina, I would do my best to get there and see you!

“Starkle starkle little twink.” Oh how I miss George.
I think this was filmed a day after the tapings for Hymns and Church in the Wildwood, and on the same day as the tapings for the Billy Graham Music Vol 1 and 2 videos. The reasons why I think that is because of what everyone is wearing, and also because Jake said he wasnt feeling well the night before, and if you notice in Hymns and Church in the Wildwood, he look fatigued, didn't sing much and left towards the end of the taping.

I love watching the Billy Graham ones via gaithertv but some of these folks don't look too pleased with you, Mark.....I wonder why? LOL Nah, great footage and Miss Ruth there too, what great memories you have:-)
You need to read what I wrote..they don't look pleased because it exposes who they really are ..you know like us..normal with no microphone or raw..it goes to show that you think you know how some of these singers act but in situations like where Mark is just trying to have fun..a few of them acted stuck up and smug.
