My son was a teenager when he brought this movie to my attention. He told me it was one of the greatest movies he had ever seen. I watched it and did not understand the depth that he understood at that time. Sadly he passed away in 2011 from a drug overdose. I feel he could not handle all of the worlds issues and possibly his trajectory was unacceptable in his mind. He saw the suffering of the world and carried the weight of their pain on his shoulders. He was only 24. Hearing your analysis of this movie helped me understand him and where he was coming from a little better, and brought me closer to his spirit. Thank you so much!

I've carried more people to their graves then I can count on both hands due to fatal drug overdoses, friends and family. The only comfort I take in it is that that's about the easiest way to go. Also that there's a possibility we choose our time and manner to die before we get here, so it may not be as tragic as we think. It's still tough to go on without them though. I haven't lost a child thankfully. I can't imagine how incredibly painful that must have been.

Your analysis of Donnie Darko and the tie to the Bhagavad Gita is very enlightening, Howdie. Many of us have been poking holes in this reality for ten years, not yet ready to give up the concept of free will. All of this makes more sense now what is "happening" to us, though the analogy is that we're just the needle playing in the record.

Finally watched it again after about 13 years and its much better now that I have more knowledge. Just wanted to potentially mention that in the movie Donnie wears the long sleeve shirt "Hobie" and is pronounced backwards as Eiboh (eye-bo) which in Japanese translates as Aibo and Aibou which is (Aibo) love; attachment; adoration and (Aibou) partner; pal; accomplice.
It perfectly sums up the entirety of the movie with that one shirt if taken into this context. Great truth in this movie.
Feels as if the manipulated living are the people who wear masks outside in the hot sun and the living receivers are those who sense something is wrong.

Or is just one of the most popular sporting, surfing and clothing brands of the 80s, so named for the creator Hobart Alter, who changed surfing for generations with her love of woodworking and later developed the note popular foam and fiberglass boards. Everything isn't a path to something else, if you keep that mindset you'll never see things for what they are, you'll just keep looking for something you won't find.

I’ve been studying the nature of reality since my early 20’s. 30 years later it’s become clear to me that I am in some sort of story or script. Once I started studying my astrological chart my inclinations that my life has a certain trajectory to it became very clear; undeniable actually. I’ve said for many years that one choice I can always make is to learn from my experience and expand my awareness around this existence. That being said I know many people that can’t seem to make the same choice but are able to direct their lives in ways I can not. So I wonder if my choice to learn and be self aware is actually “My” choice as well. I suspect it’s also an act of karma and chaos that I am able to make the choice of self awareness and learning. Whatever the case I desire to be more in contact with my essential flow rather than my conditioned self’s idea of what should be. So I pay attention to the guidebook that has been presented to me. As I work to attune myself to the story I was actually born into I get a more clear sense of freedom. It’s the freedom to be in the flow or the channel of the truth I was born into. I think if we learn enough about that journey and it’s needs we get closer to creating our own story. For now we appear to be caught in a trap of sorts. It seems we are supposed to learn what needs to be done to get out of that trap. Very similar to the movie Jumanji where they realize they are in a game and have to follow the rules of the game and pay attention to their own strengths and weaknesses to win the game and GET OUT of it. An interesting part of that story is after they win the game they have to call out Jumanji’s name before being released. Maybe calling out The Deceiver is an important part of releasing it’s control over us. I’m guessing that’s probably right to some extent. My journey is to know release from fear and to support others in the journey towards Grace. That’s very clear to me. Blessings on the path.

You make some great points about the movie, I enjoyed that movie when it came out and even to this day. Thanks for relating its message. One thing I would say is one can neither prove nor disprove the existence of free will. It is an individual decision. Perhaps it is free will but with guidelines? Age old question why am I here, or is it be open search for truth ask and receive, and just go with it? Great points Hawdie, I started following your work recently and really love the approach. Also loved the point about people being awake just trying to help and tend to just sit there and don't do much, really hit a point with me. One thing I think we can all agree on is we are each on an individual journey, all of us, and we all have a role. All the best.

I saw Donnie Dario once, several years ago, and I couldn't explain why, but it's always been deeply unsettling to me. Looking back now, and with this interpretation in mind, I have to conclude that it was a concept I was simply not prepared to understand, let alone appreciate. Reflecting on the film from this perspective, a lot of things suddenly start to click into place, and within that wider frame of view, singular aspects of the story begin to make much more sense.

That captures how reality as we know it exists...ripples through time connect moments that have yet come to pass can be identified with double numbers 88, 33, etc...These moments exist everywhere. Call them god wink's or synchronicities...I think the people that run this reality certainly have this knowledge and harness it to steer reality to suit their own needs...hence why this movie has some sort of esoteric association with Donald Trump's presidency coming to fruition in 2016... and quite possibly his death 33 years later from 1988 to 2021...Donnie Trump and Donnie Darko follow the same path

Thank you so much for your insights! I never really 'got' this movie until now. I always felt there were significant gaps in my comprehension with previous viewings, so your spiritual compass bearings were massively helpful. Regarding the waves between Gretchen and Donnie's mother, and then the kid: my take is the kid's wave is a purely banal counterpoint to the poignancy of Gretchen's gesture. The neighbourhood kid probably saw the mother wave and mistakenly assumed she was waving at him.

Found it quite interesting that you mentioned American Beauty here. I know that movie has some sprinkles of spirituality in there but the storyline is so straightforward that many completely ignore that element and disregard those little spiritual and religious overtones it has, at least on the first viewing. And I suppose it's not really worth a full esoteric analysis, but it's still a nice little film I'd recommend for people who haven't watched it. I have a very jaded view of Hollywood, especially having become aware of the ritualistic nature of that industry and its energetic effect on mass consciousness, but I found some level of sincerity in that movie at least. Maybe because of how you put it, "the universe made it".
I have the director's cut of Donnie Darko on my PC. I've had it downloaded for a while, but I just never got around to watching it. But I will now, and the perspective I have of the movie from you and its symbolism with the Bhagavad Gita will allow me to enjoy it further than I would going in blind. Cheers.

I believe the universe is stepping in to help establish parity within our predicament. As the individual's perception of his plight becomes more focused, of course it translates out into the aether and the collective. The universe, along with this new age, Aquarius (transparency) is settling the lopsided score, not necessarily in our favor as much as it's showing us what it's here for. When we recognize we can make a difference in our own lives by simply willing it so, that participation can literally move mountains.

Interesting. 88 is like two infinity symbols turned upright. I have always thought that in time travel, to avoid paradoxes, you would have to actually go to the past of a parallel universe that was nearly identical to the one you left. Hence the side by side “Morbius strips” or “infinity symbols” to indicate a separate reality that you had moved to.

Hi Howdie, thank you for your remarkable review. High quality videos I learn from enormously every time.
I recently re-watched the film and was stuck by an idea I had about 15 years ago when I first saw the film. At the end during the spanning to the various characters I always had the thought that the main character women in the film were all variations of Roberta Sparrow that push Donnie to have the conditions in reality needed to execute his script. Forgive me I don't recall the adult women character names: Donnie's mother, his English teacher Drew Barrymore, the teacher/dance instructor, his therapist, and Roberta herself. I view them as the same character, perhaps operating in different channels, that create the opportunities that enable Donnie to do what he needs to do.
Consider a small quick example of Donnie's mother crying on his bed with him, he asks, "how does it feel to have a wacko for a son", and she replies, "it feels wonderful" through great grief. He realizes in that moment he has the ability to impact her.
I would love to hear your comments to this idea of the women being part of Donnie's script.

DD=44, the music also seems encoded, Tears for Fears Head Over Heels HH 88, and the songs Under the Milky Way, The Killing Moon suggest astrology and fate vs freewill. Our current controllers with their dna modifying medication and restrictive measures seem to be drastically 'correcting' what they perceive to be the flaws in the human being and thus correcting/challenging God.

Donnie Darko is a great awakening movie but I also think the directors other film The Box 2009 has similar themes with Archon's and light's etc in it. I recommend you check it out 🤔

I watched this movie many times. Don't have a theory about WHY it all happens. Don't like the science explanations the movie makers gave. I do like that one of them said that characters/everybody? in the movie was being manipulated. I thought the (silly) bit about the Smurfs had to be the clue - the goodness of the Smurfs' way of life changed the heart of the person trying to destroy them. It seemed to me when Donnie tells Gretchen he burned down a house and has emotional problems, this is a warning to her. If she sticks around with him, she is going to end up dead. Which is what happens. (I also thought maybe Donnie had something to do with the disappearance of Gretchen's mother, though I don't like to make up extra scenes for movies). I thought when Gretchen waved to Donnie's mother at the end, the mother was like a vampire, picking her next victim. (Just my feeling). Like others who commented here, I thought Jim Cunningham (J.C., Jesus Christ) might have been innocent. Despite the complete idiocy of the school lesson about finding the wallet, there IS duality, there is attraction and repulsion/ Love and Hate/ Love and Fear. "We all die alone" is in many movies, I think Hemingway used it, or said it. I took it as an anti-Christ message, as is "You can do whatever you want ".

I didn't know that about the number 8. I've always been fascinated with that number. I used to write it over and over on everything. I remember being 12 years old and couldnt stop writing it on the shower wall while I was taking a shower. Weird memory to have but I remember it well for some reason. I just considered it my lucky number.

I'm still a bit confused on the connection to the Gita. In my understanding, Krsna's sermon is basically an expounding of the way to erase karma by being in sync with the universal flow, and by not acting based on personal feelings or rationalizations. A true Karmic Yoga.

Maybe I have an explanation why the kid waves at the end of the movie. Each hand has 5 fingers. So Gretchen waves, mother too and then the kid. So we have 5+3=8. Number 5 is also very often in the movie and triple 5's.

i did that a few years ago with a group for Pleasantville. Group of like 5 or 6. They watched the movie, and discussed it first without me. I just listened to their own insights. Then I added my own on top of it. Then we watched the movie together, and then had a 1 hour discussion of it after. It turned out to be so much of a learning experience for everyone.

I keep thinking this movie is also subconsciously about Danny's own abuse bubbling to the surface inside his mind when Jim Cunningham arrives at school.
Donny doesn't want his little sister to get harmed so he does what he's lead to do to expose and stop it from happening this time.

Can the main reality death dissolve all other realities?
If the main character, main reality is dead, will the others exist?
Is that a possible scenario when a soul becomes trapped?

    • @howdiemickoskitalks

I can honestly say I know of at least 1 reality where I died in 1999. How many times I died in 1999 in other realites I have no idea for sure, but my guess just in that one car accident more than that one. So I know there are many me's dead, and many me's (like this one typing to you) still going on. I know it is really head warping stuff...I wonder since my stuff here can be so mind bending maybe I should do a live show one of these days, so everyone can ask questions and get clairifications directly rather than just as a comment or two here in videos. Just a thought.
