They actually did it - they found a way to make a fresh, new visual style that actually looks like it evolved from the original game's lo-fi visuals. Like, they maintained that charm. This is WAY better than when they were making Mabinogi 2 Arena, which looked more like a sequel to Vindictus than it did resemble Mabinogi... that was weird :P

The graphics are much smoother and improved than the original, but I'm glad they kept the style. I do hope the skills will be improved and balance. I been getting into these mobile games (Summoners Wars and Monster Super League), I can't wait to try this out too!

Interesting that they went for that classic windwaker sort of vibe. It's great to see that the phone game is going for a more simplistic style as it kind of still plays homage to the original Mabinogi but also allows it to age better.
Yeah. I somehow doubt Mabinogi or Nexon in general have the funds for such an undertaking. It's not like WoW where they will just revamp the world every few expansions and also update models. I also doubt they want to try what FFXIV did and remake a game from the ground up! The servers are barely holding up as it is
Because they couldn't fix the old one, it's made on a 14year old engine, they should remake the whole game on a new engine and that would be a lot of work, best thing would have been to make a Mabinogi 2 (not the arena shit) updating the graphics, but they did understand that they will get more money with mobile..

Common sense also says Peria Chronicles lore also is *two universes mixing. For all you know mabi could be a third mixed since they had mabi animations and concept* Doesn't matter. Peria Chronicles couldn't get their combat fast pace and was rumored to scrap world building.

Hold up, how do you even transfer the combat system to mobile? Unlike other mmos, this game isn't about cooldown rotations, but strategically choosing one of the dozen of skills that you can use for your current weapon. That being said, I look forward to screaming at Ferghus again.
For those who are confused with the recent Mabinogi Mobile closed, it has nothing to do with this one. The one we played was the Taiwan version that the game company officially bought the IP from Nexon Korea and develop the non-related nexon game. Also named as "Taiwan-nogi" from users. Taiwan-nogi got shutdown last year. While the global server is still open. Just we cannot officially download anymore due to the 3rd party contract was expired. I can tell because the global server got merged recently. But there are lack of ppl. I can assume that only the server remains for while. Overall: Taiwan-nogi is a direct version of PC Mabinogi. The one that is still in development and expect to be release in 2021 is the parallel world of PC Mabinogi. Unless they change that part later.
I wonder if they'll still focus the story around the white knight quests. That was the lifeblood for me. Other than that, I am excited to see how much of the original gets copied over.
