      @@CruisingSonchaser Wow!! That’s fantastic. Small world. Love Buzzard Rock, Hu B’s, Thirsty Turtle, etc. I just built a new home on the lake about 1.5 years ago(from Columbus Ohio). Such a beautiful area. I just found your channel/videos and absolutely love them. Binge watched a few now. And will likely rewatch as well. 🙂 Maybe we’ll run into each other !

    What an incredible trip! Thanks for the ride along. Didn't know one could travel that much thru our rivers in the US.

      We are so blessed to have the river system and the locks and dams operating for "free" all day every day.

    We will be doing the Loop next year. Pretty sure we will be doing this side trip. Thx for the videos. Yeah my wife gave me a haircut once. That’s all I’ll say bout that. 😂

      We have since done the TN River from Green Turtle to the end in Knoxville. Put that on your list for sure as well, especially if you can do it in the fall.

    Once you came up through McAlpine Lock, you are in my old cruising grounds from Louisville to Cincinnati. I had a 70 foot Monticello River Yacht. When we bought it back in 2010, Kentuckiana Yacht Sales had it docked at Captains Cove Marina off Harrad's Creek. We docked it at Four Seasons in Cincinnati. When I sold it in 2015, I ran her down to River Walk Marina to be listed by Paradigm Yacht Sales that was located there at the time. I think they are out of business. The boat sold again last year and I don't know where she is now. The people who bought it from us, docked it at River Walk the whole time they owned it. Safe travels this summer. Jeffersons are great boats too. Too bad they are no longer in production just like Monticello's are also no longer in production. I do love Louisville. Not too far from this marina, is one of my favorite close by places to eat and drink at The Silver Dollar Saloon located in one of Louisville's oldest former fire stations.

      When I post the next video, it has us at Four Seasons for two nights and then we head to Ripley Ohio, then Ironton, OH at Holiday Point and then Huntington, WV.

    When are you going to post Demopolis to Mobile?
    I'm wondering if you noticed my 40 foot sailboat anchored in the Jackson, Alabama barge port? I had engine failure headed up river in April 2023.

      I will look through the footage and see! We are now in The Bahamas waiting for a weather window to cruise some more. We are behind ever since we left Demopolis. I hope to get something out this coming Friday.

    Do you cook on board?
    How do you manage a low balist like that?
    What's been the most challenging part so far?

    • @CruisingSonchaser
      @CruisingSonchaser  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do cook on board. There's a full galley with a stove, three refrigerators overall, oven, but we mostly use the microwave to make simple dishes, lots of pasta, quinoa, salads, soup, sandwiches and then we also use the grill on the stern often as well. Lisa handles all of the lines in the locks really well. The bollards (she mistakenly said ballast) are different in every lock. The low ones are tough for her to lasso, due to the height of our boat, but she has gotten so used to it at all levels, she's a real champ. We are now cruising toward Florida on the Tombigbee and several of the 12 locks we have to to there are perfectly at chest level, which she is loving! I'd say the most challenging things we run into are big summer storms. We have had some big scary ones in Mississippi and Alabama the last few weeks and we just need to stay tied up and wait them out (and pray a lot). We have four daughters from age 33 to 20, so this one on one time with Lisa and I has been really special and unusual for us. It's great working on things together, even if it is scrubbing the decks! Thanks so much for watching!

    Does anyone cruise to Pittsburgh, PA on the Ohio?

    • @CruisingSonchaser
      @CruisingSonchaser  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. We planned to go from Nashville all the way to Pittsburgh to complete the entire Ohio River. We ran out of time though. We spent so much time at fun places along the way. We will complete it someday after Americas Great Loop which we are on right now. In Florida at the moment.
