I’m originally from Chicago and even in the suburbs of Chicago, mainly south suburbs there are neighborhoods of middle class, upper middle class and upper class that are predominantly Black. Um, native Atlantan here. Some of these suburbs are farther away from Atlanta than you'd like to be. The northern suburbs have bad traffic; ones along 85 are the worst for traffic (Chamblee, Doraville, Dunwoody, Norcross, etc). If you're not going to leave your burb, it's no big deal, but if you have to go into and out of Atlanta everyday, it will grind on you. Traffic isn't Los Angeles bad, but it's enough to make up go "ugh".
Outside of Smyrna (SMUR-nuh), I would stay away from Cobb County (even including Vinings). They have quite a racist history and the cops who were accusing people of driving under the influence of marijuana when they were stone cold sober were from Cobb County. Blacks are the second largest group there at 31% (Smyrna, not Cobb County).
Gwinnett County is on LivePD *often*. It's wild up there.
Fayette County is *far* from Atlanta proper and has lots of older white people; Peachtree City is 7% black. Sandy Springs (19%) is starting to get really expensive now. They are trying to figure out how to not kick out the less wealthy people. Dunwoody (12%) isn't too bad as it has freeway and train access to Atlanta. Roswell (11%) has a bunch of Mexicans. Milton (8%) is *very* far away; they built that to get away from black people. Suwanee (SWAN-ee) (10%) is where the Falcons train, it's a good ways up 85 also. Alpharetta (10%) is interesting; it used to be populated by middle to upper class whites. Then they let Asians in. Now the Asians have made the schools so competitive and the prices so high that the whites are moving to Forsyth County. Alpharetta is closer than Milton, but it's still far away. John's Creek (9%) is basically the same as Milton.
Vinings and Sandy Springs both abut Buckhead in Atlanta.

kaizersolze I live in Gwinnett county, yes it was on live PD but the city you commonly saw on live PD was Norcross which is quite industrial for being in a suburban area. Gwinnett county is so large and extremely diverse. Also Gwinett county is quite nice traffic is horrible but regardless it is not “wild” up here. Suwanee, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Buford, etc... are all developing into becoming more modern and upscale towns.

Upper Westside, Chamblee, Brookhaven, Doraville, Smyrna,Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Roswell, Milton, Johns Creek, Duluth, Suwanee) is now White and wealthy. After the 2008 real estate crash, blacks who where doing great in real estate had to pick up the pieces. South Dekalb,College Park, Riverdale, Stock Bridge (Eagles Landing is great), Fairburn, South Fulton and the City of Atlanta have a lot of poor schools, crime and section 8 housing.I live north of the city and when you see the listing of the best schools in metro Atlanta, the majority are north of the city. Currently Bellwood Quarry park is under construction in Bankhead, so by 2030 Bankhead will look like the Old 4th ward today. I have the following rule, I have to live in a 5 mile radius of Trader Joe's, Whole Food or Spouts, which are either in town and north of the city. I miss the old Atlanta, GA from the 90's.

To make my comment a little short, first off,
City of Atlanta only sits in Fulton County, not DeKalb County, Cobb, Gwinnett. Although 10 percent of Atlanta is DeKalb County to the East, but the majority City of Atlanta is in Fulton County, not Gwinnett or Cobb County cus those counties are not in Fulton county. From the Decatur sits 10 percent in Fulton county, and 10 percent of Atlanta in DeKalb County. This video is very misinformed about ATLANTA.
Too many places mentioned in this video is wrong and that’s most of the places not even in Atlanta or City of Atlanta. To the South, only East Point is Fulton County and College Park has parts just 3 percent in Fulton County so they call it South Atlanta. But 97 percent of College Park really sits in Clayton County.
To the East, Atlanta barely blends in with some parts of Decatur. Sometimes people from Decatur may claim Zone 6, because it’s somewhat closer to City of Atlanta, but that’s really just few. True Decatur natives know not to claim Zone 6 cus you can be both Decatur and Atlanta even though, but that’s just a hood thing. You lost me when you mention Peachtree City being in Atlanta, which is all the way on the Southside in Fayette County. Duluth and Suwanee is not Northeast of Atlanta, but simply in Gwinnett County and that’s it. Most places in Vinings is in Cobb County but has Atlanta zip code. Smyrna and Vinings are kind of same but have parts in Fulton County, but the majority parts is in Cobb county, so you have to be specific.
I understand you want to show love to Atlanta, but let’s be real about what’s really in City of Atlanta. Atlanta only consists of 6 zones, which is Zone 1 to Zone 6. Same way as if you call the 911 and the police car doesn’t say Atlanta Police. That means you’re not in the City of Atlanta. Sometimes some areas may say Fulton County Police, that’s because you’re in Fulton County, but as far as City of Atlanta, it’s always going say Atlanta Police.
I could go on and on, but I think this is the best shorter way I can describe so people understand not every where in Fulton County is Atlanta and definitely not Gwinnett County or Cobb County. Only closer county DeKalb, which shares 10 percent with Fulton and that’s Southwest Decatur and North Decatur. Alpharetta is in North Fulton County so that’s also considered Atlanta. Long story short, Atlanta only sits within the the Perimeter and anything outside of the perimeter is not Atlanta. That’s why the Marta trains doesn’t go anywhere outside of Atlanta. I hope I explained this well to people that doesn’t understand what Atlanta really is.

Very professional high quality video, however it's a little misleading, especially when it mentions Duluth, Smyrna and Avondale Estates. There ISN'T much affordable housing in Smyrna or Avondale, and the more moderately affordable housing as it pertains to Duluth and other areas are not shown in the video. Additionally condos are mentioned multiples times with no examples shown. I think it's bad practice to show a $7 million mansion and discuss reasonably priced housing simultaneously. Also, the Peachtree Overpass is not in Peachtree City, it's in Midtown Atlanta. Let's do a better job at not misleading people. As a former 30+ year resident of Atlanta, daily I would meet people who were so let down and frustrated because they had one perception only to move to learn what it's truly like. People who transfer with great incomes, or come work with certified IT skills can live very well. If you have more than one child and make less than $60k a year then you are going to get your feelings hurt living in Atlanta. And it's very tough to get a job because they are still on the "who you know" system. They don't care about your qualifications. I ended up having to relocate to the Carolinas to find work after 4 layoffs.

@@karoberts2198 That's the issue. I didn't know people and after multiple layoffs, I ran out of companies willing to take a chance on me based on my resume, professional references and interviewing skills. So many times I've come across hiring managers asking employees handing them resumes how well they know the candidate and where from, etc. Also Atlanta is being marketed for the fresh out of college, childless and educated crowd. If you have children you probably don't want to live in the inner city with less than stellar schools nor would you want to live in those small expensive condos with large families. So those companies trying to get all you super young folks in position. So people coming there thinking they just going to apply to a few places and immediately land a job are in for a rude awakening. You better know someone with the power to hire. And the uneducated or the people who don't have IT or forklift certifications should hang it up as well unless they want to be poor and disappointed. Plenty of warehouse positions for the hard labor folks but you better work OT a lot to afford rent in a safe area. The final layoff was the last straw and I moved to Charlotte to avoid becoming homeless in Atlanta. I have 2 college degrees with years of experience!
I no longer attend church. Had a few rude awakenings while living in Atlanta and realized a physical building was not meant for me on Sundays.

Good video....informative, visually tasteful, overall good production (even though their was no South of Atlanta suburbs mentioned). The pronunciation of some these suburbs are hilarious to me. Smyrna and Suwanee in particular, 40 year resident, it's always been "SMURN NA" and 'SWAN NEE"...LOL!

MICHAEL SHIELDS Thx for taking time to give us your feedback. But we put a lot of due diligence into our Research but we gotta give our VO lady more more money to learn Atlantan. 😂✊🏽

I'd love more of south western Georgia. I'm looking for homesteading land there

Nice video. Glad to see my town of Suwanee made it to #3 (Su-wah-knee). Your pronunciations are off, you should get a local to assist with the proper pronunciations.
