It matters not where I am in body and or spirit, when I listen too this it takes me to the same place. A place of colours and movement, stirring life on a forest floor of a billion galaxies weaving a soft tapestry of the world's most comfortable and finest tastes, down through the ages, watching the rise and fall off many different forms of us, to the gnarled oldies, lichen covered and moaning in the warm breeze tending gently to their mossy beards. With a most beautiful and safe landing on a firm mat at my doorstep, the volume knob awaits patiently for all time.
I just love the chords of this song... it's like this is a pop song with lyrics, but you can still see the ambient part of Brian Eno in the middle! Great stuff!
Thinking of a world and the light of the sun And all the many lives that were ever begun Ever begun Our little world turning in the blue As each day goes there's another one new Another one new How many people will we feed today How many lips will we kiss today If we wake up? How many worlds will we ever see And how people can we ever be If we wake up? Thinking of a world in the light of the sun And all the many lives that were ever begun Ever begun
Listen this in your normal room, or place, or home with your normal company. It wil be very different, more poetic, poignant nostalgy, nothing is banal. Try...
Eno is as sublime as usual in the instrumental parts. IMHO the same can't be said when he sings. This album could have been another impressive work otherwise...
Well Gio, from what I understand, Eno himself is not enamored with his own voice or singing ability, which may explain why so much of his music has oriented to the ambient variety. If that's an accurate self-assessment I would offer a polite rebuttal were I to speak directly to him. However, in your case, I believe you're simply missing the boat. Eno's rich, layered voice here is as strong as on "Before and after science" and "Another Green world," two absolute masterpieces. Another day on Earth doesn't reach those heights, but it is cohesive and substantive. Hearing his voice is a joy and very satisfying. I long for him to give us more.
Sublime, understated perfection, as always, from the genius that is Brian Eno.
A universal artist and great song. He changed the face of music in so many ways. Love him
Never the greatest of vocalists, but for sure an absolute genius. The world would be a duller place without Eno
*"IF we wake up"* 🎶
