Hey, Im making a comment because I found something that finally helped!!! I have a little burrow that gets these kind of sores under her eyes. (From flies) I mixed !1 horse wormer tube with about a heaping spoon of lotion ( I would recommend skin so soft- because bugs don't like it) mix it together and apply it as a lotion. I also wormed the donkey but it didn't help the sores until I did this. Good luck!

Summer sores are caused by an intestinal worm. Are all the horses at the barn wormed? Ivermectin should treat the parasite that is causing the initial problem. So sorry your horses are going through this.

Yep they are all wormed. I even did a Power pack on Zeke in may when we were having trouble putting weight on him.

I feel like the ivermectin horse wormer is as potent as saline water. Our poor donkey has been double wormed for a much heavier horse than she is and I am still struggling with this issue!!!

Is this common in the US? Never known a horse in the UK to have this.

It depends. Certain areas they get them more than others. None of my other horses had them, but for some reason at that barn they all got them. Could just be something about that particular barn even though it was clean and well taken care of 🤷🏻‍♀️
